So it's clear from this thread that there are a few takeaways:
It's rougher for solo players because they are at a huge disadvantage against Divs.
It sucks for brawl teams made up of randoms to run into Brawl teams made up of competitive clans.
Duly noted!
A few things to reply:
By today, the teams made up of the same clans are going to be facing teams made up of randoms less and less. As they win, their MM will face them against other teams that are mostly clans by virtue of the way this MM works. This is how it works at the very beginning of a clan battle season, BTW. A Gale team CAN run into the O7's, KSC's, BONKS of the server - just not often. As those teams win more and pull away, the teams that are not specialized will see them basically never.
This brawl is the same as other brawls, only the size is different. In the 3v3 Brawls you could and would run into teams made up of only clanmates. This is by design. It's a step away from Randoms and towards more constructed play, albeit a small step.
"Stats" in this game refer to many things including your average damage, your average kills, your winrate, and on and on and on. Sometimes this gets translated to "skill" when discussing "skill-based matchmaker". This brawl matchmaker is factoring in WR of each player only. It will attempt to even out the Win-rates of each team IN THE BRAWL. Not the overall account winrates of each player, but the number of times that player has won in the brawl. There seem to be some folks thinking otherwise.
Brawls are for fun, folks! If you are one of the lucky ones to run into a team made up of a Hurricane clan - watch what they do! See where they deploy their ships.
Trust me when I say that I hear the grievance of a solo player in brawls. The number of times a person queuing into a random team faces a clan team will continue to shrink as the brawl goes on.
