I've read multiple folks that are concerned about the New Year Fleet mission chain which requires the Repulse to pass the first part of the mission chain. If you play fully Free-to-Play, you'll have about 9 Days to work your way through the whole thing, and folks are worried that's not enough time.

So, I did it in Co-Op only with no special flags.

Chain #1:

This took 3 Co-Op Battles as you need 1,000 Base XP over any number of battles. It could have taken 4-5 if we averaged 200 or 250 Base XP, howoever.

Chain #2:

So, I got to learn that you only need to complete 4 out of 5 of the missions to advance. Since I was playing Co-Op only, the 75,000 XP Mission looked rather unpleasant... So I skipped that one!

The four I did are above.

I got 900 Ribbons though shooting fast cycling guns

I got the Aircraft through 2 CV Games. The first was with a Midway, then second was with a Bearn. Bearn killed almost 40 planes in a single match since her Fighters have so much health. I dropped Fighters over enemy ships and they lived to intercept and kill planes~ While I only had about 62 Aircraft kills from those two games, the Kill ribbons supplied the rest.

4,000 FreeXP looked intimidating, but it went faster than I expected. I used some King of the Seas camos at +100% XP, +200% FreeXP. The "Red, White, and Black" German event camos provide the same.

The Spotting Damage mission... This was it's own beast.

So, I tried a CV (the Midway) and found bots just spot themselves. I got VERY little damage this way.

I tried a US DD and laid a smoke line across my teammates on a flank so I'd be the only spotting there. This worked... but not well.

I think had the idea to do the Div with a Friend strategy!

I played a Tier 8 CV, and a friend brought a Battleship. I flew over and spotted the enemy CV, and my Div-mate sniped them down. As I was the only one spotting the CV, I'd get 50k damage a mission to close this out quickly!

This took me about an hour. The first 3 missions went quite quick, but I had to come up with a strategy for the Spotting Damage.

Chain #3:

So, while these all show as completed, I only aimed for 4 of them to pass the Chain.

Get 300 Ribbons? No problem~ I just did 900, so this wasn't a concern at all.

In 4 Battles, be on the top half of the team? Sure. I'll just yolo with a DD and torp some stuff. I'm sure that'll get me on the top half or so.

19 Caps/Assisted Caps/Kills - 19 kills it's small, but I'll sure I'll get these while I'm getting through...

Earning 3,900,000 Credits. Yeah... this was a Gate.

So I looked at Potential Damage, but 12 million seemed worse then Credits, so I opted for them. (Turns out they finished at around the same rate naturally, though Credits completed first)

I decided to just hard Grind credits over a lot of fast battles.

I used a Paolo Emilio and a Le Terrible. Both are Tier 8-9 Premium DDs and they are FAST. I could charge in, torp a thing or two and then ram something to get started on the next match.

I used "Dazzling" camos I had left over from the British event a while back, so that was +30% Credits. I also used the basic +20% Credit even flag.

Each Battle was ~150-250k Credits, so it was just a matter of grinding it out.

This section took me about an hour and a half or so. I misplayed some battles, and had an issue getting through the enemy DD in the Paolo, so maybe it could've gone faster?

Chain #4:

So, as you can see... just say no to 95k Commander XP. I didn't finish that even after finishing the mission chain AND playing some battles with Hapa_Fodder on stream.

4 million Potential Damage really wasn't bad. I'd gotten like 9 million just from charging with DDs, so I didn't worry about this and just played.

24 Fires/Floods/Kills. I wasn't worried about this either. I ended up bringing a Des Moines and just lighting stuff on Fire a lot.

225k more Spotting Damage? Back to the skies with a Div-Mate volunteer to snipe down the bot CV a few times. Took about 4 battles since the Team got spotting damage on some backline BBs as well during my lighting the CV.

690k damage. This could've gone faster, but I didn't take the Des Moines until halfway through.

Once having the Des Moines, the terrible bot accuracy meant I could just run around lighting everything on fire and beating up ships.

This was very doable with 50-80k damage a match, some up around 150k.

This took around an hour, I think? Since I had my Spotting Damage strategy, the rest was just doing the thing. Also, chat was engaging me so my sense of time was hazy.

Chain #5:

Again we see a "Nope!"-style mission. 22k Base XP? Nah~

Top 3 on the Team? Taking the Des Moines and murdering bots while taking little damage gave me more than enough high-end finishes.

MOAR FIRES? Sure, no problem~ Popped the DCP then lit 4 fires a bunch of times.

18 Kill Ribbons? Sure, no problem~ I'll be shootering ships anyway, so it'll be ok!

720k damage? Well, the 690k was a bit of a grind, but I was in my routine now~

Turns out, I got the damage faster then the kills. I was done with everything except needing 5 kills, which I finished out in two more battles.

This was hazy too, so I don't have time figures. Probably about an hour-ish just like Chain #4. Ultimately though, I clocked in the entire mission set in Five Hours and Fifteen Minutes~

So please! if you want to wait for the Repulse, wait for the Repulse. The New Year Mission chain is super doable across 9 days~

You need me to do this for the Dockyard missions as well?

The purpose of this was to show the concerns were overblown about the 5 stage New Year Fleet thing being delayed redemption. While yes, you are correct that you'd need to be doing the Dockyard as well to get the Repulse in the first place, that's a given. It's a ship that has to be either bought or earned.

Excuse me, but this was done on my personal account.

I ran the Midway once, which did use a permacamo I payed for years ago.

The Des Moines has no perma-camo, so I ran it naked without any camo because finishing the mission mattered more to me than losing credits or not.

The Tier 8 French DD was aquired years ago when I dived way too deep in Santa Crates for an Enterprise I didn't find ($1,400 if you're curious, because I kept going back. It sucked.)

The Paolo Emilio was earned through the RB from doing line regrinds.

5 x British CV Line

3 x US CV Line

1 x German CV Line

3 x Japanese CV Line

I did this because it's easier to show something and so that I could represent the issues my Community members are going to deal with. I didn't math this out beforehand, and I did it on my day off, so I wasn't sure if this was a 5 hour grind or a 15 hour grind. I CHOSE to do this in Co-Op Only and without cool camos/signals so that I'm going through the experience PvE Mains will.

The Dazzling camo was given out en mass during a British event. I believe it was the British Heavy Cruisers. Even still, as the only part of it that mattered was +30% Credits I could have just done the Potential Damage part of the Chain. That went up at nearly the same rate as the Credits, and would have been the easier option I suppose?

I don't believe this is fair.

The Dockyard is either an investment of Time or Money, which is the exact same thing for our Artists, Game Designers, and entire company in general. These things are offered under a Grind path, because that's part of a very common exchange. We want you to play our game, and we'll even give you things for playing it.

As some folks will tell you, Time = Money. Regardless of the path you choose, there IS an investment. Actual money spent will always outperform "Grind Time Spent".

The screenshot of the conversation above seems like it's arguing that because a pre-conditional Grind exists, my post is in bad faith. I took as a given that people would know you'd have to acquire the ship if you wanted to do the event. This is the very normal course of things. How a player chooses to acquire (or not acquire) is completely up to them, as there is no requirement to do anything at all other than just play the game for personal enjoyment.

If I do this in the future, I will constrain myself to camo-less, flag-less Tech Tree ships of Tier 8 or lower.
