Depends entirely on your viewer count, tbh...You get something like 1 point per 10 seconds for 5 minutes after a message is sent, ish.

So 30~ points per 5 minutes. Plus there's the cooldown on the spawning functions so the viewers can't just harass you 24/7 with enemies- there's always downtime. And that there are positive functions too mean you get helped as much as you get harassed, if your viewers aren't totally evil.

....You can absolutely get overwhelmed though.

You shouldn't be afraid to criticize. That said, Criticism in an open forum is a two way street- So even if you keep within the rules, You will get people who disagree with you and who will do so publicly and vehemently if you don't present yourself well- This is one of the major issues many so-called critics of the game have...

They seem to think (based on observation, anyway) that they're gonna drop a truth bomb and be awash in glorious worship; And so are not at all prepared to have a discussion on the topic they started- So, instead of discussing the issue, they instead stonewall and plant their feet refusing to consider any viewpoint but their own. Many more still are literally just trolls who throw the OP and then laugh as everyone else argues till they're blue in the face.

Iuno, overall just a mixed bag... Basically, Keep it civil and you can criticize till the cows come home- Just understand that in any public social environment of significant size, there will be both people that agree, and those that do not, and that humans in general are rather polarizing creatures.

Originally posted by Seftak: I'm generally not one to complain about game developpement but serioulsy the coding team put time to code useless twitch stuff for the 50 to 100 max people who steam their game? And they say the PVP playerbase is too small to worry about?
This is a bit off-topic, but, The people that say the PVP playerbase is 'too small to worry about' is primarily defenders of the decision; And yes, I'm included in that. I've never personally seen the dev's themselves use that as a reason.

It's a reason cited as a defense for why it's just not worth the time and effort..But the primary reason they don't make changes or fixes specifically for PVP is that the devs are not really interested in PVP, and they don't really consider it's inclusion to be of major import to their vision of the game.

They added it originally because it was a tiny expenditure of time as an extension of the friendly fire system that would please the community and could be used as a facet of Cooperative play known as coopetition, like team vs team survival.

And they've done a couple other very minor things as well.. But all of those additional things also impacted the rest of the game in some way either past current or future. EG: The Hunter Mod, applies when hunting but is largely overkill, applies in pvp, and will certainly apply vs bandits when they come out.

But when something pretty much exclusively effects PVP, it's just not what the devs want to do. EG: The persistent clipping bug people use to spot underground bases- It has no real effect on SP, it has no real effect on cooperative play, it only has a significant effect for PVP. So, this particular bug sits unfixed while they focus on other aspects of the game.

I don't think it's that they'll never correct the issue in the example- It's just that, because it only affects an aspect of the game that they aren't particularly interested in, it's going to end up waiting on the back burner until they've finished every other aspect of the game. I also don't think it's that they will never make any addition or fix or change for the benefit of pvp...

I just know that everything else will come with a bigger priority than pvp specific things.

To segue back towards the original topic, Yes, Even the streaming integration stuff is a bigger priority.

As for why the twitch integration, Tbh it's to the benefit of not only the 50-100 streamers, But also to every viewer who enjoys watching them. And it considerably impacts the SP game, and the Coop MP game, even to the extent that people who wouldn't normally be streaming the game currently like the OP.

Such integration is the kind of thing that brings new viewers and gets them to stick around long enough to become part of the community- So not only is it beneficial to the current streamership and viewership, but it will aid in the expansion of those things in the longer run.

Also just as a final thought, I think it's pretty likely that it's not the whole team putting time towards this, but rather primarily just one person out of the team, and they may not have had something they considered 'better' for him to do at the time that could be achieved without other things being finished before hand.

EG: Coders tend to be specialized into different facets; You won't find Faatal for example working on non-AI things most of the time. But if he was sitting on his thumbs waiting for someone else to do something before he could continue his work, it's in the companies interest to then give him something else to do in the interim.

Just by nature of how coding works, It's not a great idea generally to have multiple people working with the same file or feature, Wires will quickly get crossed and problems will arise and time gets wasted because of situations where multiple people fixed the same thing or tweaked the same line of code, etc.

Rambling a bit so I'll stop here. Anyway, please either leave the discussion here, Or keep any further discussion relevant to the original topic so that we don't skew wholly offtopic discussing it. If you feel it's the kind of thing that needs a more indepth discussion, by all means make a new topic about it.. But we don't need to hijack this thread further than we have. :winter2019happyyul:

In his time off work, he developed the twitch integration on his own for he and his viewers to have fun with.

It turned out so well and he and his viewers enjoyed it so much, that he pitched to the rest of tfp the idea of adding it to the base game.

There was no paid tfp dev time or money associated with adding twitch integration. There will from now on need to be some time spent maintaining it, but that is all.
Oh, didn't know it was on his own time. As I suspected though, it was basically one person- not the whole team. Good drop of knowledge Teresa :winter2019happyyul:

Originally posted by .♥~*°("_")°*~♥.: Well i just see one streamer what this do & it's true it's depend about viewers but I think it's a little cheat xD Viewers just spawn help-loot & the guys got ammo/weapon/cure/food in "infinity"... & so was to much easy so I spawn zombie to kill him :)))
And that is exaaaaaactly why it's fun. :P It's a bit cheaty, because the viewers can throw boons to the streamer- But there will Always be someone or some group of people in the stream who thinks it's getting too easy, and strives to make it hard to compensate.

So yes, they get lots of free loot- But they also have debuffs thrown at them, and bears spawned right beside them.
