It wasn't deleted, It was moved to the relevant forum; The General Questions subforum. You can view your posts location by looking to the right side of the forum and finding the 'Your forum account' bit, and selecting 'Post History'.

So what is the determining factor between "General Discussions" and "General Questions"?
Ming more or less covered it. Essentially we try to use the General Questions subforum as a repository of easily searchable information- More specifically, Of topics with questions that have concrete and factual answers to them as yours does.

Was fertilizer and the hoe removed? Yes. Why was it removed? Because they implemented a new farm plot block that serves the same purpose and costs roughly the same in materials, and considered retaining the hoe and fertilizer to now be superfluous.

To explain it another way, This kind of topic typically dies out after the first person responds with an answer to the question posed by the opening post- So it's not really a discussion; But rather a question and answer, and so, it's moved to the Questions subforum.

Hope that makes sense.

Alright, that makes much more sense. I wish Steam would be more transparent with the forum notifications rather than vaguely stating "This item has been deleted or removed."

This has been a long-standing gripe of ours as moderators, since it leads to confusion and extra threads like this. I’ve also requested to rename the sub-forum to “Questions and Answers,” which I think will make the distinction clearer.
