I’d have to agree with saice. I know everyone wants their ideas in the base game, but taking a game’s setting/atmosphere and enriching it with more novel characters, encounters, etc. that take the game in different directions… what you’re describing is the perfect use case for modding.

Is it bad I want modding that matches the game's theme and scope over a bunch of assets ported from other games and broken balance because someone didn't like way the devs built the game so they took liberties of doing it their way?

Current modding and available mods is quite a mixed bag right now. I'm not looking for any major overhauls or projects that outright change the way 7 Days plays. This would be more lite modding with assets to resemble something close to existing ones. Since I'm impatient when it comes down to it I doubt I could ever produce such a mods myself.

You kind of are looking for outright changes to how it plays, though. You say you want aliens, with ray guns, that act like gremlins and/or Medusa, and provide an alternative to zombies. We can comfortably say that's a departure from the dev's vision. The devs have said zombies are and always will be the primary antagonists in this game, even when bandits are added*. It's okay to not like that vision or want something more, but realistically it's a mod that's going to scratch that itch.

*Bandits will probably be the closest thing to what you're looking for. They're not supernatural but they should provide an alternative enemy type to zombies, that hopefully feel different and require a different approach.
