List of current known issues with Nitrogen. You may or may not experience these. Some of them will appear immediately, and some only appear after you have played the map for a bit.

  • Missing traders / broken starter quest
  • Container lag or inability to open containers
  • chunk data errors causing chunks to reset, or prevents loading
  • Inability for POI's or biomes to spawn zeds
  • Corruption of the storage files for electricity and vehicles
That's just off the top of my head. I've been awake about 5 minutes, and haven't had coffee yet. There are probably a couple more.

A couple of these can happen in the Vanilla game as well, but the chances of them happening in Vanilla is significantly smaller than it is when using Nitrogen.

Nitrogen takes a lot of shortcuts to make maps as fast as it does. It's not as granular as the actual client when drawing the maps so you will get rougher terrain with less detail.
Add to this the fact that the RWG mixer it uses was rendered obsolete by major optimization changes in experimental build 173, and it's a wonder that it is still functional. There have been a minimum of three similar updates to the stock RWG mixer since then as well.

That said though, it still has good support from the modding community. We will help you get it set up and running, and will help you try to work around some of the issues. They are some pretty big issues though and more often than not, you basically have to trash a world save and start a new one.
Be aware though that the next update will very likely render the mod completely useless, and it will not be getting any updates to make it even partially functional again.

Sylen, come on... what is this? Those are vanilla bugs. One sure ng bug is collapsing POIs

Sylen... why? Uh... A20, can't wait.
It does not work 'Better', It works 'Differently'. Better is subjective to the individual. What you consider to be 'better', I consider to be 'broken' because Nitrogen is riddled with issues from RWG's past like sudden terrain dropoffs and POI's on 40 block tall plateaus for no reason.

And yes; Some of the things Sylen listed are Vanilla bugs...He even stated as much. He also further elaborated that using Nitrogen exacerbates those issues on top of adding it's own issues to the mix; So just using Nitrogen can lead to someone experiencing a bug they otherwise would not have.

Not in all cases. It can make it so that they do not exist. They will even appear to exist for the quest, but when you go to the location, they are not actually there. Or maybe they are there, but spawned underneath the map so you can't get to them anyway.
