Or maybe have a dead zone of just one block wide so the gap can still be leaped.

I asked the QA guys about this and they said it has been necessary in order allow the trader compound to be near other POIs. They hope to create a better solution but in the meantime if you use the drop chance for blocks to turn to rubble you might be able to fill the hole that way.

Originally posted by James: I'm just gonna go on record and say that this is a terrible workaround. So what, people are supposed to hang around the 3 wide ditch for hours and hope zombies appear and then hope they drop a loot bag (with very little chance) and then wait even longer for the bag to turn and create rubble block. All of this just to be able to get to a trader? Edit: Maybe I'm just understanding this wrong?

I think it is more like you make towers of blocks at the edge and then remove the bottom block so that a bunch of blocks tumble and fall into the pit and turn into rubble. I don't think that loot bags even turn into rubble. I think they just despawn.

This isn't TFP's "official workaround". It's just something that someone said was done on one server to fix it. I think your workaround to have the server owner reset the chunk is probably the best and official workaround but if you don't know the server owner and you want to get into the trader sooner rather than later then this might be something that could work.

Cmon now. I won't pretend to know all of workings of what it takes to create a game. But I gotta believe that they could see this as a big enough problem to put out hotfix update and atleast make it only 2 blocks instead of 4 so that those with L2 parkour skills would be able to make the jump.

I don't really know how big of a problem it is. Its griefing and if you have griefers on your server then this is probably the least of your problems. Password protect the server and play with friends instead of randos and the problem resolves itself. I've never ever had this happen to me and neither has most of the player base who play SP and with friends.

I'm sure they made the zone as unobtrusive as it could be and they did say they are working on a better more permanent solution. A hotfix that you suggest could cause a lot worse problems with city tiles and random generation which would effect everyone rather than the small subset of people who play with random strangers and subject themselves to griefers and don't have an active server admin who can reset stuff that griefers do.

Oh yeah, if you can just toss them one at a time out of your inventory then that would be even faster than hoping a tower topples in. Try both of these OP and see which works well to fill the gaps.
