Most, indeed pretty much all, AAA games are no voxel, nor are they in early access where the primary focus has yet to shift to optimization. So diving right into a super HD mod prior to even testing how it performed in vanilla was kinda silly.

A laptop further causes issues, as to get the parts crammed into such a small space, they have to make sacrifices in performance (But I'm sure someone else will elaborate on this, probably Sylen)

Dropping through the ground is not normal, but, Basically what's happening is you're overwhelming your CPU/ram/harddrive to the point that it just can't keep up, Somtimes if you take it a step too far the result is just a failstate where the currently loaded game map remains, but, nothing new is loaded.. And you as the player only notice it's not loading new terrain until you walk off into the empty space which is smoothed over by long distance terrain that is visible but not actually present.

The console opens when it hits a fatal error that doesn't crash the game, reporting it to the player- sometimes it gets stuck in a fail loop, but this feature of the console opening like that IS a normal thing, just not something that should typically be seen during play.

Overall, I'd say you likely improperly installed one or both mods, and/or installed out of date versions of one or both of them.
