I would personally strongly recommend continuing to play solo until you get into the swing of things. Public multiplayer is a mixed bag that's just as likely to put a bad taste in your mouth as it is to be something enjoyable. (Anything from griefers, to hackers, to abusive server admins, etc; Best to at least be in a place game-knowledge wise to be able to play the game without needing external help before doing MP, imo.)

I second this. Get started with a couple of solo games to learn the mechanics and how things work. Then you can branch out to co-op or joining a dedi.

Guess I’ll offer the unpopular opinion here. Early on I got into the game via a friend, and it was very helpful to have someone that knew what to do and what not to do. Since then, I’ve had coop games with several groups and enjoyed sharing my knowledge with the newbies on the server. Despite the addition of loading tips etc. I find new players have a LOT of questions.

As for not having friends that play the game, we have a Meeting Room sub-forum teeming with people just waiting to team up with someone like you every day. I think we have a strong community in that regard.

You would think. I've seen them stuck like that for a few days recently though. Whole threads hidden. It's annoying for sure, and even as Officers we are not able to adjust that.
