You absolutely can. Dedicated servers can put any value between 0 and 24 in the 'daylight hours' field, and pretty much any value from 1 and above in the total day length field. You could absolutely set it to 24 hours realistic time cycle, and tweak the day hours to what matches your time zone.

However, there's a few issues with this.. First, when no user is on, time doesn't pass. Second, Doing this, your first horde night, when you reach it, is going to absolutely stomp your face flat if you don't prepare properly. (Imagine that it's going to be a day 28+ horde night, not a day 7 horde.)

Ah.. Are you relatively new to 7DTD? I'll give a short explanation then. The game, on default settings, has what is called a Blood Moon on every 7th night, in which a great deal of zombies appear and rush your location trying to kill you, forcing you to defend against and outlast them until morning. These 7 day hordes get progressively harder, so day 14's is harder than 7s; 21's is harder than 14s, etc. So a day 28 horde is very difficult in comparison to a 7 day horde.

However, What actually determines the difficulty though is the actual progress of a given player participating in one of these events- Since you can progress a LOT more over the course of the same 7 day time period on a 24 hour realistic time server, that first 7 day horde will be the equivalent of something like 20-24 times as hard as a 7 day horde on default settings.

You could of course just disable horde night though, You do you. :) But it's kinda the namesake of 7 Days to Die.

i dont understand what you mean about the day 28+ horde night, also are you sure its between 1 and 24, the file says its done in minutes so if i want 6 hour daynight cycles i have to put 360 as the value a full 24 hours would be 1,440
To the latter question, I'm sure. I spoke of two different settings there; not just one.

"DayNightLength" is the real time taken per in game day, and is calculated in minutes; This is the time you're referring to and is the second value i referred to which can be anything 1 or above.

"DayLightLength" is the first value I spoke of, and must be a value between 0 and 24 (possibly 1 and 23, i'm not sure what happens if you set it to 0, or to 24.)

If i set the value to 1,440 that would make an in game cycle last 24 real hours ?
Yep!

thanks I understand now, is there any way to adjust the length of the bloodmoon when it happens or the difficulty of the horde apart from adjusting their speed and block damage ?
Technically yes; The "Day Light Length" value determines how long day vs night is. But there is no way of separating the horde night length from normal night length. Horde night, on the nights it happens, is from the moment night starts, till the moment night ends (By default the setting is 18 hours, which is from 22:00/10pm till 04:30am.).

so if it was a real 24 hour cycle with 18 hours of day light that would be 6 and a half hours of blood moon ..... that sounds like a hell of a time
Yeeeeeeeep. In actuality, there is an upper limit on the total number of zombies spawned over the course of the night that is determined by the value of the players Gamestage (which is a value derived from character level and some other stuff- basically overall progress that has been made by the player.); But with a 24 hour time scale, by the time you reach that first horde, you'll be looking at a zombie count numbering 1000+ if not much higher.

Once you DO manage to clear out all the zombies, then no zombies will spawn for the rest of the night (except in POIs that you might visit).

It's possible; don't get me wrong; since you'd have about 160 actual hours to prepare for it (Which in default settings would take you to day 160); but, It would be one hell of a night. :P

Big tip though, AFter completing the night, Do Not Shut Down the Server until morning, Or the next time you boot it up you'll have a renewed horde night to contend with.
