Thats the problem most likely, the lack of funding. Only that "one time purchase" and thats it. Nothing more was added that could have made any cash "on the way" so it stopped developing like 24 months ago. That twitch extension, that was aiming for wider audience, had no impact. TFP should just drop that v1.0 and move on doing something fresh.

Except that twitch extension was developed outside work hours as a mod for the game by one of the devs who happens to also be a twitch streamer; Because he thought his community would like it, and they did... And his community included several other streamers who wanted to try it, and he let them try it too and they enjoyed it. This ultimately lead to him proposing it to the team for proper inclusion into the game, again on his own off hours.

It didn't take any working hours to create or introduce to the game; Though it may have introduced some working hours maintaining it after the fact, that is mostly cross-function maintenance since the events system was built based on the twitch extension. But, it was never at any point a primary feature focus intended to draw in a wider audience or generate revenue. It was, quite literally, just a fun addition they thought some of their community would enjoy.
