On the one hand I kinda see what you mean. On the other, When the 70,000th person asks nearly the exact same question for the 70,000th time, When the previous 69,999 posts are still on the forum, easily searchable by searching almost the exact text they put into their post, It becomes a bit questionable.
At that point, whoever the user is, they are, frankly, being rude and wasting everyone's time for the umpteenth time asking something that has been answered so many times you could almost literally fill a small novel with responses.
Rudeness begets rudeness. If the user cant be bothered to search around a bit and find one of the many numerous answers that have come before, Why then should anyone, devs or otherwise, be anything but rude or dismissive in response?
Lotta people like to think customer service should be done with a smile and without ever talking back to the customer, but, frankly, All that leads to is people walking all over the employee because noone has any respect someone who won't snap back once in awhile- And they have even less respect for people they KNOW can't snap back without getting in serious trouble and losing their job.
