Alpha 21 provided a lot of polish and definitely new content. As for the twitch integration, my hope is that it will translate into a random event system if they can hook up a manager to it. Many of the events that viewers can trigger are silly and not really appropriate for the main game but there are quite a few that are and TFP (and modders once the system was implemented) could come up with many more that could really increase the illusion of a living world. They have talked casually about adding a random event manager to the code but there is no guarantee that they will. If they do and if it comes out of the work they did for Twitch integration then it will definitely be something that everyone cares about.

No promises about anything happening within the next ten years. ;-)

Except that it is a game still being developed, where core features are still being worked on, tested, and changed. That is the nature of Alpha/Early Access.

For a large part, the point of updates is not to give you new content. If that is all you consider an update to be, then you have horrible misconceptions about how software development works.

This was originally a feature that was removed because of problems that it caused with stability, and did not function in an overall pleasing way. It was removed as a result of that, and brought back once the AI and other system mechanics were updated to support it properly.

This is why the developers have supported modding since day 1. The base Vanilla game is being designed to support the developers vision of how they want the game to be, not yours.
