Did you two have a mine underneath the affected area? Even if you build a light building, making a mine under something is a quick way to cause collapses.

Also I'd never call a game ended until it was unrecoverable- You could recover the situation. It'd be rough, but you could.

But, the direct answer to your question is 'yes'; But it would honestly be a lot simpler to just enable creative mode and re-build the lost structure, and spawn in whatever missing items before turning creative mode back off. You can do this by pressing F1 to open the console and entering 'cm'; repeat to disable.

Thank you for the response. No there was no mine under it - unfortunately I didn't have instant record on GeForce but i only removed a bar on an existing window i installed then the whole thing came down.

If I enable creative mode and rebuild, will it prevent me getting achievements and progressing the game naturally turning it off after? Your solution sounds ideal because I can rebuild a similar structure and be ready for the 2nd horde night. My wife and I were gutted when it collapsed, more so its the first game we've played together in a year or so. It was pretty spectacular having it come down around us though :rcry:
For the duration that creative mode is enabled, and afterwards until the server/save is reloaded, achievements will be disabled. But once creative mode is off and the save has been reloaded, achievements should function properly. The same is true for debug mode, actually.

So, Load in, enable creative, Do the creative stuff, turn off creative, exit back to the main menu, then load back in and you should be good.

One thing to note is that in some cases the devs either purposefully or unintentionally built past the SI limit in order to make things look good. And so in order to prevent these structures from just collapsing instantly upon game start, the game actually intentionally avoids checking the SI of POI structures added during map generation until the player themselves causes the SI function to be called upon the structure; At which point it will calculate the SI of the affected block and any blocks relevant to that specific blocks location.

So yeah, Until you know -exactly- what you're doing with the structural integrity system, and how to recognize weak points in existing structures to prevent collapses, Yes, it'd be best to build new so that you know roughly where your weakpoints are instead of finding out the hard way that it was somewhere you never expected.

This video is from an older alpha, so some of the numerical values of the building materials listed inside are a bit off- But the functional mechanics of it all is still essentially the same as it was back then, so it's still a great, if lengthy, watch to learn about the SI mechanics, and what you can get away with using them,
