No, Navezgane is not that bad. I think many just get used to the minibikes fuel economy and then are upset when the bigger bulkier counterpart that goes faster and carries more consumes more fuel.
Also possible that they're mentally comparing their own actual vehicle IRL to this backyard built monstrosity that runs on a lawnmower engine that runs on crude homemade gasoline/old siphoned gasoline of questionable quality. "Well my car IRL gets 30-50 mpg, This thing that runs through it's fuel in 10km is ridiculous!"
