Screenshots would help. Ideally from multiple angles. It's most likely though that there's a very thin pole somewhere holding it up though.

Now that's certainly odd. There's definitely no thin pole or anything supporting it from the ground...That means one of the objects in the interior has infinite stability for some reason, and is supporting the rest of the structure. You can stop breaking blocks at this point, and start examining the interior and exterior of it for non-block objects like metal poles and such, and remove those.

I'd suggest taking a screenie before each one you destroy until you find the one that was supporting everything so we can all know exactly which thing it was. :P
