Hi Mileena,

I think it’s unusual for the tutorial to take a player until nightfall. What part or parts are taking a long time? Perhaps we can help you complete the tutorial faster, so that there’s more time left to prepare for nightfall.

I wouldn’t worry about it. You may have an instinct to always be doing stuff full tilt, for maximum efficiency. But this game scales the enemies based on your personal rate of progression (how fast you level up). For a new player still learning what they can do with what they have, I think it’s perfectly valid to just crouch quietly in a corner all night with the lights off. This can be the scariest time in the game, or the most boring. 🤷‍♂️

With that said, here are some good things to do while waiting for dawn, even with basic resources.
  • Make more arrows for your bow.
  • Repair any weapons/tools whose durability is getting low.
  • Once you finish the tutorial, you have 4 skill points to spend. Read up on the skills screen for what attributes and skills you can buy with your points.
  • Craft and wear more and/or better clothing, like shoes/gloves/hat to supplement the shirt and pants.
  • Craft wood frames. You’ll almost certainly need them sooner or later.
  • Check the map to see what you’ve explored so far, and what’s worth exploring next.
  • Use food and water to get your fullness and hydration back up to full.

Remember, you can always click on an item in your inventory and click recipes if you’re wondering, “What can I do with this?”
