I'm moving this to Off Topic because it's not about the game.
The more threads that are kept in a catch-all, default section, the less organized the forum is and the more threads users have to skim over to find the content that interests them. That's why we have sub-forums in general. We have Survivor Stories for threads where the emphasis is on the experience of particular players for its own sake, using the game only as a medium, as opposed to most threads that focus on the state of the game. It's a distinctly different format, especially when people want to post links to their streaming channels, long videos, or other forms of media.
A fair number of people would consider these posts advertising/spammy if posted to General Discussions alongside other threads. At the same time, they help promote the game and some people seek out such content.
Other moderators and I have asked for organizational changes for years. For example, changing General Questions to Questions & Answers could better reflect how the section is to be used. But so far, no such luck.
