It's been one year and the bug is still there. You can't turn in the antlers after either you go to England or Hunt the Great Elk. This feels like a joke seriously. So far, I can contribute with the following information:
The Woman that gives you the Quest is, I think, blonde. When you "trigger the bug" and return and try to talk to her to turn in the antlers, it gets replaced by a dark haired woman with the same outfit. ¿Can anyone confirm this? I am telling you this because I remember that she was blonde and I have just seen a video of a player that did the quest from start to finish and he received and ended the quest with a blonde woman. If there's anyone out there that can help:
- Can you confirm that your quest giver (at the start) is blonde?
- Can you confirm that when you trigger the bug she becomes dark haired?
This can lead to two consequences. One is the best case scenario and the second is the worst:
- If we all have the same symptoms and same looking woman(s) both before and after the bug, that NPC is "unique" and must have an ID. The devs are just spawning the wrong NPC with a wrong ID and if they replace that with the right one could fix the bug (since that "unique" NPC is the one programmed to finish your quest). Even better, spawn her next to the Hunter's Hut when you go to England.
- This second option is dreadful: It is a randomly generated NPC with a random look for everyone and therefore it has no "ID" with which the devs can identify and fix and this quest is a "radiant" quest but that only gets done once. The temporary identifier and functions related to that random and temporary NPC probably get deleted once you "trigger" the bug and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Either way, Ubisoft, can you please tell us which one it is (if one of the options are even the issue) and therefore tell us if this will ever get fixed? I would like to have closure on this topic/issue/bug and see if the info provided could produce a patch or this is indeed unfixable unless you restart the game from 0.
