Hey everyone,

I have played Anno for a few months a while back (I'd say 6 months ago). Haven't touched the game since.

Today, I wanted to get back to playing but all of the sudden the game is unplayable. As soon as I load the game everything stutters, freezes and occasionally crushes.

Menu is ok, no issues there, the problem happens as soon as I load a save.

I tried:

  • Creating a new save from scratch
  • Playing around with graphics settings, switched from Custom to high, then to low.
  • DX11 stutters even in the menu, so I reverted back to the original setting which was set to DX12
  • Verified game files
  • Updates drivers for my GPU
  • Updated Chipset
  • Updated BIOS
  • Reinstalled the game

I have a Ryzen 3600 and an RTX 2070 Super. I'm not sure what to do anymore.

Here's an example of how it looks in my game.

The only thing I can think of that was changed since I last played the game is that I upgraded to Windows 11, but surely a company like Ubisoft already optimized the game to run on practically the same OS?

Any help would be great 🙂

Edit
Found a weird thing. When I focus on my other screen, or practically anything else than Anno, the game works smoothly in the background.

Hello @beinish thank you for getting in touch and sorry to hear about the crashes you have experienced coming back to the game.

This game is one of our games that should work with Windows 11 as well as 10.

This guide contains some of the most common fixes for the issue you are having and covers permissions, hardware, software, and corrupt files, that could potentially cause crashes. Would you be able to look through the remaining steps you have yet to try and go through them? > https://www.ubisoft.com/help?article=000061047

Should these steps not resolve this issue for you, it will at least rule out a few things that may be causing these crashes. Please let us know how you get on afterward?
