Hello Ubisoft support,

I played yesterday the game, and received an error message, but the game did not crashed, so I continued playing (I think I send a report). When I was finished I saved and quit the game. Today I wanted to continue to play, but the save game is currupted, it is a completely different save file from a different person.

Opening the save brings me to the "Tropical Paradise" I never saw before with an NPC base and a fisherboat belonging to "Human0". In the old world I only see fog of war, rest isn`t settled.

How do I get my 100+ hours save game back?

@sdrgghdsb @ansgo88 Hey there Fabian and Andreas, thanks so much for reaching out about this. I understand you've both found your save files to have become corrupt after an error message, and I'm really sorry to hear about this.

We've got a support article suggesting a couple of ways to recover save files, or in this case restore an earlier version - you'll find it here. However, they both require that you'd taken some steps beforehand to enable you to pursue these options.

As you've both said, it does indeed sound like your save files have become corrupted. We aren't in a position to be able to help recover save files (besides the methods mentioned in the support article I'd linked), so you may unfortunately need to start the game again. However, I did want to point you to our troubleshooting guide, as the steps it contains are designed to make sure the game is running in the way we'd recommend, as stable as it can, and this should prevent any further save file corruption in the future.

Andreas, I understand you've already performed some of these steps, which is great - I'd recommend performing the rest as well. In particular from the guide, please make sure you both are running the game with administrator rights, you've verified the game files, you've got your graphics drivers and Windows install fully updated, and you've (at least temporarily, for testing) deactivated all background programs.

Fabian, it'd be really useful to know what the error message you'd received said, or what it looked like. It'd also be good to know what activity you were performing in-game at the time. While this won't help with recovering the save files, it'd be useful for me to note down in case this comes up again.

My apologies that I'm not able to help more directly with the save files you've got there. Let me know if I can further clarify what I've said.
