I'm sorry you're having some trouble playing with your friend. I know all too well how frustrating such things can be.
I'd like you both to run through the steps in our basic troubleshooting guide and forward these ports.
If you're still not able to play together, could you see if you're able to connect with anyone and whether your friend is able to connect with anyone else?
Yes @l8yoandmercismy, your friend would need to do so as well.
