[2022] Anno 1800 crashes my whole PC when I switch from "new world" to "old world"

I have hundreds of hours in this game on my old PC but now I have an updated PC with much better specs, and I can't even play the game anymore because it literally turns my computer off any time I switch from "New World" to "Old World" in the bottom left "World Map" drop down selector. It happened in a multi player game and then again in a solo sandbox game.

I switched from DX11 to 12 to see if that would fix it but with DX12 the game looks terrible...shadows are flickering and the water is all pixelated even on very high graphics.

It's a fresh game install. My Windows and graphics drivers are up to date. I can't get screen shots or videos because it literally turns my computer off.

Now I'm scared to keep playing or test fixes because I'm worried it may harm my PC.
