As a new AC player, I started with AC4 Black Flag back in June of this year. At first, I purchased just the base game. Then, I found out about all of the DLC, so I purchased the Season Pass, but no Aveline pack was included. After purchasing the Deluxe Edition (DE) that contains the Freedom Cry and Aveline packs (but do not seem to be accessible at this point), I attempted to transfer my save games over to the DE to continue playing there. I get the "Damaged Save Game" message with an option to delete the save game.

I have tried many ways to get it to work using the options provided online by players, but I still get the same result each time. I contacted Ubisoft support and was told that I should be able to just copy the saves over into the DE installation and it should work. Both versions are Ubisoft Connect, and both games seems to have installed into the same directory. I can see all the DLC folders whenever I check the properties of either installation, which I guess is technically the same, only with the added content. If I try to play the DE, I am prompted to update it. It goes through the process of discovering files and then downloading 1GB+ of files before I am able to play it. When available to play, my only option is to start a new game at zero because of the "Damaged Save Game".

So, I go back to the base version where the save files work to continue playing at my current 27% and get the same prompt to update, discovering files, same 1GB+ download, before it will work. I can start either version without having to update as long as I stay with whichever one I happen to be in at the time. It seems as if they are two completely separate games fighting to occupy the same space on the drive, and neither is compatible with the other. And now, the desktop shortcut asks for an activation code when it used to give me the option of choosing which version to play. Is it even possible to copy the base version save games over to the DE and continue my game progress?
