I'm getting this D3DDRED2 error frequently with Anno 1800. The problem has been much worse since I installed their new "city lights" DLC. I'm a professional software engineer (30+ years) so I'm very confident this is a coding issue. The fact the error is being "trapped" by Anno's exception processing code that brings up a dialog to send error report, means it's not a hardware issue nor an OS issue.
BUT, I've open support tickets with UbiSoft regarding this and their "answer" was very scripted and NOT helpful at all. They didn't even acknowledge the error, let alone my question regarding what they do with the error reports that I send them??? I talked to Erica and Gabriel G and Shane K ... they immediate suggest I had a "RAM" problem, then moved onto suggesting something else was causing it as I had many drivers installed, then they wanted me to uninstall all my C++ redistributables and use ONLY the specific linked one, then it was because I have the game on different drive than default ... the suggestions were just getting more and more ridiculous so I eventually just stopped responding and 4 days later they closed the support ticket out.
Why do they have an Error Reporting feature if they don't use the data the feature provides them to make appropriate fixes? I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix, this problem has been on going with UbiSoft since I purchased many months ago.
I've gone thru the driver route (DDU, manual install, etc.) ... still doesn't help. I have many other games/applications running on this PC without any issues, MSFS, P3D, Adobe Suite, 3DSMax, Visual Studio, Blender, Office suite, CIV VI, and more. 7900X + Titan X (pascal) + 35TB of M.2 and HDD space + 128GB RAM ... all work flawlessly without issue, ONLY Anno 1800 produces these D3DDRED2 CTDs.
