I'm getting this D3DDRED2 error frequently with Anno 1800. The problem has been much worse since I installed their new "city lights" DLC. I'm a professional software engineer (30+ years) so I'm very confident this is a coding issue. The fact the error is being "trapped" by Anno's exception processing code that brings up a dialog to send error report, means it's not a hardware issue nor an OS issue.

BUT, I've open support tickets with UbiSoft regarding this and their "answer" was very scripted and NOT helpful at all. They didn't even acknowledge the error, let alone my question regarding what they do with the error reports that I send them??? I talked to Erica and Gabriel G and Shane K ... they immediate suggest I had a "RAM" problem, then moved onto suggesting something else was causing it as I had many drivers installed, then they wanted me to uninstall all my C++ redistributables and use ONLY the specific linked one, then it was because I have the game on different drive than default ... the suggestions were just getting more and more ridiculous so I eventually just stopped responding and 4 days later they closed the support ticket out.

Why do they have an Error Reporting feature if they don't use the data the feature provides them to make appropriate fixes? I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix, this problem has been on going with UbiSoft since I purchased many months ago.

I've gone thru the driver route (DDU, manual install, etc.) ... still doesn't help. I have many other games/applications running on this PC without any issues, MSFS, P3D, Adobe Suite, 3DSMax, Visual Studio, Blender, Office suite, CIV VI, and more. 7900X + Titan X (pascal) + 35TB of M.2 and HDD space + 128GB RAM ... all work flawlessly without issue, ONLY Anno 1800 produces these D3DDRED2 CTDs.

Hello robains, sorry to see you are having trouble with these crashes whilst running DirectX12.

I can see from your case files they wanted to confirm what troubleshooting steps you had tried and also asked for an updated msinfo. I could not see any programs that might be affecting this on your old msinfo but would you be able to upload a new msinfo to the case? If you can do that and let us know we can escalate the case for you after confirming you have tried the basic troubleshooting steps too.

It will also be worth uploading your most recent log file to the case too - C:\Documents\Anno 1800\log

A case will automatically close if we don't hear back from a player within 4 days, but you can reopen it at anytime by posting in the case again a new message.

As well as what others might have already suggested, as this is specifically affecting DX12 for you can I suggest the following if you haven't done so already, as another player confirmed this method worked for them and allowed them to play the game today -
- Go to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates
- Next, locate this folder and C:\Anno 1800\Support\DirectX\DXSETUP click on the app and run the DXDiag set up
- After updating your version of DirectX 12 try launching the game.

If you are unable to get the game working with DirectX12 after troubleshooting, the game team will suggest running it in DIrectX11 instead for your system, as only some players have reported being unable to use the game in DirectX12, usually after a previous update, so at the moment I am investigating how many players are affected by this after the LoL update, as other players have reported this fixed simply after updating their DirectX12.

Thanks for letting us know your progress with DX11 robains.

I know some of our players would prefer to run the game in the newer DX12 and this has been fed back to the Anno team for optimization. As it stands, Anno 1800 seems to run better for most players on DX11 without issue.
