I know Anno 1800 is more about the Sandbox experience, but I did like the campaign, and have played it several times in between Sandboxes.

The Goode siblings have cleared their father's name, but the Pyrphorian threat is still out there, along with their mysterious Leader (whom we all suspect we know who it already is).

Are there plans to ever continue this along, or was the campaign really nothing more than an extended tutorial with a slapped on story and will never be expanded upon?

I'd like to see more, honestly. With the Empire of the Skies DLC, could be a great way to bring the Pyrphorians back! The enemy returning with a fleet of flame-throwing airships, which is the driving force in the campaign to get you building your air fleet? Sign me up for that story!

At least right now there are no plans to add another campaign, or a follow-up the main campaign, to Anno 1800.
We might explore some aspects of the existing lore and stories in scenarios (like we did in "Eden Burning" last year), however.
