So frustrating to see ships B and C waiting to trade at Pier 2, which is a regular Pier, instead of going to the other side of the island to Docklands Piers / Main Trading Post. Pier 2 is busy with Captain Tobias, who will spend 8-9 minutes loading/unloading.
Pier 1 is upgraded and only accepts Coconut, which ships B and C don't carry.
I even tried to force the route:
Ship A goes to the X location, then, instead of approaching the Pier, circles around the island and still comes to wait to Pier 1. This time, ship A does carry Coconut.
Ship B is also set to go to X location, but then comes around too, in order to wait for Pier 2. Ship B does not carry Coconut.
Moreover, when Pier 1 was set to accept only routes transporting something that ship A doesn't carry, ship A would indeed go to Piers 3, 4 etc. of the Docklands. As soon as I set up Pier 1 with an item that ship A transports, ship A would not go to Docklands anymore.as if it was forced to only trade at Pier 1, even though it's a longer route.
