Community Cortex | Week 2 update
A cold wind blows across the jungles of Bastion. In the wake of the Season of Skulls, bonfires may once again be lit—this time to fight the cold.
Season’s greetings, Freelancers, and welcome to the Icetide season! But don’t go thinking the frosty landscape has made your foes any less determined. While you’ll find fewer Scar and Dominion enemies out in the wilderness this time of year, outlaws are seizing the opportunity presented by the “hibernation” to come in greater force. The cold never bothered them, anyway.
With Icetide, dozens of new challenges have been added for you to complete, including ones that are added each week and three that are secret and hidden from view. Good luck with those. Let us know if you’ve completed one of them! Be sure to also keep an eye out for new world activities found in Freeplay.
Of course, many of you have likely already discovered some of the other new activities and features added to the game. To start, Strongholds now have a competitive element to them, featuring an updated scoring system for this season. Use the multipliers to get the highest score you can, which gives you better rewards—though be mindful of the timer.
And of course, there’s also the new racing activity found in Freeplay! In the chilly air, javelins can fly longer than usual since their thrusters are kept cool. Naturally, Freelancers take this opportunity to race one another. Priorities!
Building out the world more, we were thrilled that many of you enjoyed the Season of Skull lore stories, so our wonderful writing team will continue to provide eager lorekeepers with new tales to read this season. The first one will come next week. No doubt they’re using Edmonton’s “charming” winters as inspiration!
Week Two
With the first week already coming and going, the Heart of Rage opened to Freelancers with its Icetide theme. The Heart of Ice challenge also went live.
This week, the The Sunken enters the fray along with two new challenges: Thin Ice (Daily) and Cracked Ice (Weekly).
Store Refreshes
The stores are going to refresh in a few hours at the time of this being posted, so you still have some time to get what’s currently available. Crystals are a seasonal-specific currency that is earned by completing a variety of activities.
