Welcome back, Freelancers,

They say these long dark nights bring us together during this season. It’s not just about needing the light anymore—anyone can set up a torch or turn on a light. No, it’s about the people, Freelancer. The people you fight for, and the people we live with every day.

Stories get shared around the fires of Fort Tarsis during this time. One of them was shared last week. This week’s story isn’t really a happy tale—most aren’t even sure how it ends—but it’s a reminder:

Freelancers are heroes to the people of Bastion, but when a hero doesn’t come to save you, you have to save yourself.

Lighter is the story of one man, by no means a fighter, facing off against the terrors of the long night by himself. More than anything, he wanted to be saved, but he knew that wasn’t going to happen unless he tried to save himself first. After all, bravery isn’t simply the strength to stand up to something. Bravery is the strength to stand up to something, even when you’re afraid.

It’s a story worth learning about, so be sure to take some time out of your busy schedule saving everyone to read it if you can.

With that, let’s jump into what you can expect from this coming week.

This looks like it's leftover from last week, when sniper and precision rifles were buffed with the inversion.

Really been enjoying the Season of Skulls, so far. The Freeplay portion is a lot more fun than just the conjunction stuff from the Cataclysm, although the occasional bugs that keep you from being able to complete one of the three pre-events required to access the final event can be really annoying.

I like the tweaks that have been made to the actual event, along with the scoring changes. It feels like a much more level playing field, as there aren't as many game mechanics available to increase score. Everyone can do everything, the top teams just do it faster. No trying to figure out how many waves you can get Vara to spawn without crashing the server. Just run everything as clean as you can. Everything seems tied to DPS and team coordination, as it should be.

Also, gotta give a shout out to the ghost spiders/scorpions. They just look super cool.

Haven't played around with the chests very much, as I'm saving up to go on a binge, but the increase in legendary rate seems to have gone over well.

All in all, it's been better than I expected it to be, and it arrived sooner that anyone thought.

Looking forward to hearing more about the PTS.

Good catch. I've fixed that.
