s | thank you |
s | hello and welcome to our glorious ashes |
s | of creation June development update we |
s | hope everyone is well and safe and has |
s | been having a wonderful month on our |
s | front it's been crazy we've got a lot |
s | going on and you better Buckle in strap |
s | up because it's gonna be a long one |
s | today I hope everyone brought their |
s | snacks I was warning people in the chat |
s | so you've been warned it is it is going |
s | to be a long one I mean what are we |
s | thinking here probably at least an hour |
s | and a half if not maybe two oh my God |
s | yeah depending on how many questions we |
s | answer after but so we'll we'll see how |
s | it goes but a lot of good information a |
s | lot of new information and updated |
s | information from old information so keep |
s | that in mind as we're moving forward |
s | today but to cover what we're going to |
s | be covering we're going to go quick |
s | reminders and try to be really quick |
s | about that Freehold update we'll do some |
s | art updates which includes some new Nick |
s | who and awesomeness I know folks have |
s | been asking about more dwarf stuff and a |
s | studio update and Q a so first and |
s | foremost we have our Spotlight for our |
s | YouTube comment which comes from zash |
s | Welsh guy and wants to know with |
s | phishing will we be able to use the fish |
s | we catch with the animal husbandry |
s | profession maybe have a freehold Pond or |
s | a fish tank in the player home |
s | yeah this is something that we have |
s | um uh ideas around and Designs around we |
s | haven't done any implementation or |
s | development for it yet but the idea is |
s | that for certain types of fish or |
s | certain very rare kind of trophy-esque |
s | uh fish you would be able instead of |
s | using the material to go through a |
s | process that might put it into things |
s | that are more cosmetic focused like a |
s | fish tank or a pond on the Freehold or |
s | something in the house we definitely |
s | have some ideas around there I think |
s | it's a super cool thing to kind of see |
s | something you've taken from the world |
s | and now that you've domesticated or put |
s | into uh your customizable space so great |
s | question it's definitely on the top of |
s | our minds it's something that we're |
s | going to be exploring post Alpha 2. |
s | awesome awesome and then we've got |
s | Stephen will be on the Ashen Forge |
s | over on twitch.tv Theory forge on July |
s | 9th I think that they're going to be |
s | putting up a thread over on our forums |
s | as well to gather some questions from |
s | the community after the live stream so |
s | definitely check that out Stephen will |
s | probably answer a lot of questions they |
s | always have a good time and ask a lot of |
s | good good things and of course we also |
s | have our Dev discussion about role |
s | playing up we would love for you to tell |
s | us what systems and features make role |
s | playing fun what features help remove |
s | hurdles and barriers so if you have |
s | thoughts on that please feel free to pop |
s | on over to our forums and give us your |
s | thoughts and of course we also have our |
s | cosmetic swap over happening for the |
s | songs of the sea on July 12th 2023 and I |
s | know that we have previously said that |
s | the packages will be changing coming up |
s | in the future but Steven was giving |
s | y'all a long warning it's going to be a |
s | bit before that changeover happens but |
s | we will give you guys ample notice with |
s | an FAQ on details of what that will |
s | entail and with that we will move on to |
s | Freehold old goodness so if you want to |
s | do any prefaces here Stephen yes let me |
s | give you guys a bit of a preface so |
s | um we decided to take a little bit of a |
s | different approach with this |
s | presentation |
s | um the first half of this is going to be |
s | really focused in on detailing out some |
s | of the mechanics of the Freehold system |
s | um a part of it is going to be |
s | reiterating what you guys have known for |
s | a while but another part of it's going |
s | to be uh giving some updates around |
s | these designs and some changes that have |
s | occurred uh in anticipation of the |
s | rollout for freeholds during Alpha 2. so |
s | give us your feedback on whether or not |
s | you like the style of this approach for |
s | the presentation |
s | um the first like I said half of it is |
s | going to be us kind of going through |
s | slides and showing some of the tech |
s | trees of the buildings and some of the |
s | purposes of these different systems on |
s | the Freehold and then after that we're |
s | going to have a little bit of gameplay |
s | in the world showcasing uh the freeholds |
s | I believe Bucky has a freehold we're |
s | going to be going through doing some |
s | farming on it uh some live interactions |
s | with some of the livestock we're also |
s | going to be showing off as an ancillary |
s | overview some of the changes that we had |
s | talked about previously to the inventory |
s | system we're going to show some of the |
s | storage off we're going to uh um show |
s | off a couple of new mounts and and some |
s | of the mining areas but it's something |
s | that uh really the focus is giving you |
s | guys expectations around how freeholds |
s | have changed uh coming towards Alpha 2. |
s | so hopefully you guys enjoyed this is |
s | going to be a long one it's about an |
s | hour long video yeah over an hour long |
s | so enjoy and we'll see you afterwards |
s | [Music] |
s | hello everyone and welcome to another I |
s | was about to say day in Vera but |
s | actually we are going to be doing |
s | something a little bit different than |
s | what you are accustomed to and the |
s | reason for this is because we are |
s | getting a little bit into the systems |
s | and the mechanics of how freeholds work |
s | and it's going to be a two-part |
s | presentation the first of which you're |
s | seeing now is going to be in the format |
s | of a more PowerPoint oriented kind of |
s | presentation talking about the mechanics |
s | looking at skill trees and then the |
s | second part is going to be in game where |
s | we're going to take a look at some of |
s | the systems like farming |
s | livestock Housing and Storage but |
s | I am joined today by three absolutely |
s | glorious developers on the ashes of |
s | creation Dev team |
s | are designers first of which is |
s | irregular appearing guest Mr Bucky how |
s | you doing Bucky |
s | hey how's it going I'm Bucky uh AKA Dr |
s | Bucky uh game Defender here at Intrepid |
s | uh helping out some of the Arts and ship |
s | designs and also some assistance related |
s | nodes and freeholds and also a little |
s | bit of combat design |
s | yes and we also have with us joining I |
s | believe for the first time one of our |
s | glorious designers Mike |
s | hello uh my name is Mike I'm a senior |
s | assistant designers here at Intrepid uh |
s | it's really nice to be here yeah I deal |
s | with the economy and itemization and |
s | this is the first time on Livestream I'm |
s | really excited yeah yes excited to have |
s | you as well and |
s | Corey also Corey I believe you were on |
s | our December |
s | um live stream that we did yeah I was |
s | there for uh the Gathering and uh yeah |
s | I'm Corey I'm a technical designer and I |
s | focus uh mostly on artisanship and |
s | economy |
s | um kind of jump around to other things |
s | but those are my main things |
s | now we have an exciting uh |
s | uh topic today which is I think near and |
s | dear to a lot of players hearts and that |
s | is freeholds and we're what are we |
s | looking at here tell me a little bit of |
s | what this uh concept art is we've |
s | obviously talked a lot about freeholds |
s | in the past as a system since you know |
s | back in 2017 when we first were |
s | discussing ashes of Creation with the |
s | community during Kickstarter and what |
s | the intent of freeholds are but what are |
s | we looking at and tell me a little bit |
s | about the system overall |
s | so yeah we got a little uh you know |
s | example step of Freehold here right we |
s | got on the left we have some uh farmable |
s | animals some livestock here in pens and |
s | then we have in the middle there's a |
s | bunch of crop rows of farmable crops the |
s | players can have and then there's a |
s | couple different examples of different |
s | kind of free old buildings you could |
s | have on your Freehold one of which is |
s | the house on the right and then some |
s | other uh Freehold buildings as well like |
s | it looks like there's a mill in the back |
s | there as well yeah and for those of you |
s | um you know who who have just been kind |
s | of tuning into ashes of Creations |
s | development or don't follow along in |
s | game development or other projects this |
s | type of concept art is really important |
s | especially for the artists on the team |
s | who are helping develop and create the |
s | world around you it kind of sets the |
s | mood for what we're trying to accomplish |
s | when environment art starts creating |
s | these assets and starts creating these |
s | environments right what's the type of |
s | visuals we're looking to achieve |
s | yeah it really really helps us right |
s | like we can we can only do so much on |
s | paper |
s | um and if we have to start kind of |
s | visualizing uh the ideas right so yeah |
s | kind of coming up with the space and you |
s | know what's going to fit and how's it |
s | going to look and all of these things |
s | that we want to coexist uh in this space |
s | right like concept lets us know whether |
s | or not it's even possible so looking at |
s | stuff like this is super exciting yes |
s | and and as I said we have a few updates |
s | to the system that we're going to go |
s | over in detail uh through this |
s | PowerPoint but to start us off let us |
s | ask a question what exactly are |
s | freeholds |
s | freeholds obviously have a lot of of |
s | different purposes within ashes of |
s | creation however three main purposes |
s | that freeholds provide are allowing |
s | really players an opportunity to kind of |
s | Express themselves in a highly |
s | customizable fashion right so these are |
s | plots of lands that you have access to |
s | you can build different types of |
s | buildings on you can create housing and |
s | place furniture and you can grow |
s | livestock and you can just own this |
s | piece of land and one unique thing about |
s | allowing the players kind of Express |
s | themselves through this manner in ashes |
s | of creation is that it's in the open |
s | world so it's not an instance or a phase |
s | location that you are kind of |
s | customizing you're actually leaving a |
s | mark on the world that's representative |
s | of you as a player as a character |
s | something something you can you can role |
s | play but importantly enough when it |
s | comes to the economy freeholds also |
s | provide the highest level of processing |
s | that's available and processing is one |
s | of three primary branches that exist |
s | within the artisanship system price |
s | processing is kind of the intermediary |
s | step between what you gather in the wild |
s | and what you eventually craft via |
s | recipes the the other primary purpose of |
s | freeholds is that they allow you to |
s | offer certain types of Business Services |
s | right because we don't just want to make |
s | freeholds delegated to the individual |
s | owner we want it to have |
s | capabilities to kind of interact with |
s | other players as they're walking past |
s | your Freehold as they're going to these |
s | hunting grounds and participating in |
s | quests or or |
s | events that might be existing around and |
s | that means that location matters for the |
s | Freehold because it's important to the |
s | business have you guys ever I mean Corey |
s | Bucky Mike have you guys ever played a |
s | game that's had a system as intricate as |
s | freeholds are in an MMO talk to me a |
s | little bit about your experiences |
s | [Music] |
s | um I like there are housing systems in |
s | other MMOs right but like but it's not |
s | as much ambitious of projects that we're |
s | trying to accomplish here there's always |
s | you know like putting some Furnitures |
s | putting some |
s | um |
s | some cosmetic stuff that's on the |
s | Freehold to look nice but like we're |
s | trying to accomplish three major pillars |
s | which is you know looking unique making |
s | uh impact in the economy and I really |
s | love the part that we're trying to make |
s | a footprint onto the real world that you |
s | you are actually owning a piece of land |
s | in an MMO and I think that's really cool |
s | I think it's super cool too I mean I you |
s | know I've played games obviously that |
s | have housing systems and they sometimes |
s | delegate you know those housing |
s | locations to very specific areas that |
s | are off the beaten path and you know |
s | aren't necessarily fully integrated into |
s | the rest of the world or certain |
s | environments and areas that players like |
s | to plan and one thing that I like that |
s | we're achieving with with the Freehold |
s | system is really moving that into the |
s | world that players are a part of and |
s | doing things in |
s | um here we're kind of you know looking |
s | at a layout and talk to me a little bit |
s | Bucky about you know these different |
s | aspects of the types of buildings that |
s | you can place and the things that you |
s | can do on the Freehold that we see here |
s | yeah for sure I mean players will have a |
s | lot of a lot of freedom in in what they |
s | choose to outfit their Freehold with and |
s | kind of like what you were talking about |
s | before and you know in other games we've |
s | seen different housing systems where |
s | it's more kind of like plot based and |
s | you're kind of locked into specific |
s | places for building stuff but |
s | um in ours it's going to be you'll have |
s | a lot more freedom and where those |
s | buildings go which buildings you choose |
s | how many buildings you even want if you |
s | want to just sacrifice maybe some |
s | building space for additional farming |
s | space so players will have a lot of |
s | opportunity |
s | um to customize the way their Freehold |
s | uh looks and operates yeah absolutely |
s | cool I see that there there is a shed |
s | that's listed there is that shed uh do |
s | we talk about the shed a little bit |
s | later in the in the in the presentation |
s | yeah we can touch on that later I think |
s | okay okay cool cool all right so you're |
s | obviously asking yourself how do I own a |
s | freehold |
s | Bucky do you want to talk to us a little |
s | bit about that sure yeah so it's kind of |
s | a multi-step process but the first thing |
s | you'll have to do is you'll have to |
s | complete a quest to unlock the ability |
s | to even uh acquire the Freehold permit |
s | so once you do that quest line you'll be |
s | able to go to the node and bid on an |
s | available Freehold permit if you're able |
s | to win the permit oh sorry and real |
s | quick Bucky so the purpose of that Quest |
s | is you know these nodes aren't just |
s | going to Grant the ability to own land |
s | within their zone of influence to |
s | anybody right and so the quest the quest |
s | is kind of a method by which the node |
s | gets to vet both the intent of the |
s | player who's attempting to own this |
s | parcel of land but also whether or not |
s | they are up to the chops of actually |
s | owning and servicing a freehold because |
s | it takes a lot to to service these |
s | freeholds |
s | yeah exactly |
s | very cool so talk to us a little bit |
s | about these Parcels like how do they |
s | exist around the node Yeah so basically |
s | there'll be a variety of predetermined |
s | Parcels of land in each node zone of |
s | influence |
s | um and once players acquire acquire |
s | their Free Will permit they'll be able |
s | to lay claim to any available parcel in |
s | the issuing nodes region so any and by |
s | region we mean that any any region nodes |
s | region is the total combined territory |
s | of a node in all of its vassal nodes so |
s | if you if you acquire a freehold permit |
s | in the Metropolis of a huge region you |
s | know almost 20 of the map right you'll |
s | be able to lay a claim to an available |
s | parcel anywhere within that region so it |
s | gives you a lot of freedom if you're |
s | able to acquire the permit from a |
s | metropolis yeah now this is this is one |
s | of the first changes for those of you in |
s | our core audience who have been |
s | following development for a period of |
s | time now you will know |
s | that because we are in active |
s | development everything that relates to |
s | the design of the game is available to |
s | be iterated upon and changed and so so |
s | as I said at the start of this you're |
s | going to be seeing a little bit of |
s | changes to the systems and we'll |
s | eventually show you here in game some of |
s | those systems but you're going to see a |
s | little bit of change and this is one of |
s | the first ones that these are |
s | predetermined locations that exist |
s | around the node or under its vassal |
s | structure |
s | that you will have the ability to bid on |
s | and to give you kind of a sense there |
s | this allows us to to customize a bit of |
s | those those |
s | predetermined Parcels like a Sherwood |
s | Forest type of example or you know the |
s | the the hills of of of of of |
s | um verdant Glenn or something thank you |
s | exactly thank you |
s | um essentially letting us kind of |
s | customize that and then when you own |
s | when you've taken the um the permit for |
s | that parcel then you get to go and place |
s | your Freehold uh plot out in that |
s | section of that area of the world right |
s | and nodes have many Parcels by which |
s | they are able to to sell permits to and |
s | it will be on a auction basis so talk to |
s | us a little bit about that permit what |
s | it looks like to lay that down Bucky |
s | sure yeah so it'll basically be an item |
s | in your bag and once you uh you know you |
s | get to your parcel you claim that piece |
s | of land and then once it's claimed |
s | you'll be able to use the item to you |
s | know go into top down View and lay out |
s | actually exactly where your Freehold |
s | will go on that parcel of land you'll |
s | have a lot of freedom so a lot of a lot |
s | of that will be going through looking at |
s | your whole area of land you now own uh |
s | claim to and then deciding where the |
s | best spot to put your Freehold in there |
s | would be awesome and and |
s | having this type of layout uh makes it |
s | so that in the world when we talk about |
s | the visual Fidelity and the kind of you |
s | know Freehold density that might exist |
s | out in these open areas we don't want it |
s | to be where you're running through the |
s | world and at every glance you see |
s | someone's Freehold right and what this |
s | allows us to kind of do is partition |
s | those spaces out so that there's a |
s | minimum distance |
s | essentially between the different |
s | freeholds yeah there'll be places like |
s | where you won't be able to put it |
s | Freehold even right like a point of |
s | Interest or roads or you know a dungeon |
s | area so the parcels will kind of be |
s | mapped around those areas awesome I also |
s | want to point out |
s | um yeah the the concept art of this |
s | piece is vastly different than what we |
s | showed earlier so which kind of gives |
s | you the freedom of the placement of what |
s | you can do this is like way more farming |
s | in District in farming uh Aesthetics |
s | where where the the gatherables are a |
s | whole bunch in the middle and then |
s | there's like a storage Mill kind of |
s | thing in the middle so that's how much |
s | Freedom that we want to offer players |
s | how customizable a freehold can be yeah |
s | I love that it's super super cool it's |
s | uh you know like like we said one of the |
s | first and most important aspects of the |
s | Freehold system is that it's giving the |
s | players that level of customization to |
s | help them represent their identity the |
s | identity of their character right |
s | now obviously the uh Freehold would not |
s | be a freehold without a house that's the |
s | most important aspect of |
s | um the Freehold system it's also what is |
s | the first necessary thing that you must |
s | build talk to us a little bit about |
s | housing |
s | yeah so as you can see here we got some |
s | examples of the different uh sizes of |
s | houses you might be able to have on your |
s | Freehold |
s | um and the fruit first like you said the |
s | first building you need to build on the |
s | field is a house and then once you do |
s | that you're able to you know build other |
s | buildings like the different uh |
s | partisanship buildings or businesses |
s | we'll get to later and now before before |
s | that house is present what's on the |
s | Freehold |
s | it's just an empty plot of land all you |
s | have will be the little storage shed |
s | that gives you the base storage to be |
s | able to bring materials to your Freehold |
s | and then make your Construction |
s | nice awesome so basically as you acquire |
s | um that house uh blueprint you go and |
s | you preview the location of the House |
s | blueprint on the piece of land and when |
s | you lay down the construction site |
s | you're expected to bring materials |
s | through the Caravan system or through |
s | the mule system or even individually if |
s | you want to take many trips to the |
s | location of the shed and then deposit |
s | within that sheds uh storage is that |
s | correct exactly yeah that's how it works |
s | cool and then what happens if I want to |
s | no go ahead sorry I was just going to |
s | say once once you do that you'll be able |
s | to initiate the construction and |
s | complete the house and then proceed with |
s | your other thing very cool and so you |
s | were talking a little bit about |
s | um the housing sizes right small medium |
s | and large these actually have mechanical |
s | influences around the design of the |
s | Freehold system talk to us a little bit |
s | about what that size controls |
s | yeah well one of the main things it'll |
s | control is your furniture allotment so a |
s | small house for example might only be |
s | able to place you know 100 Furniture |
s | items whereas a medium or large house |
s | would be able to place many more and so |
s | that's kind of a balancing factor for |
s | players and determining if they want to |
s | have a larger house or have a smaller |
s | house and have more Farmland whereas |
s | they're sacrificing Furniture then for |
s | that |
s | got it so space actually matters here |
s | and when you talk about you know that |
s | furniture having a functional benefit to |
s | the player Corey what are some examples |
s | of that you know Furniture system I know |
s | we've talked in the past about some of |
s | these but talk to me a little bit about |
s | the importance of having that furniture |
s | and how that furniture kind of gets |
s | placed is it can be placed anywhere it's |
s | going to be placed on top of each other |
s | tell us a little bit about the the |
s | furniture |
s | yeah |
s | um uh you know placing the furniture is |
s | like one of the the most fun at least |
s | for me parts of of customizing you know |
s | your your place or your land right like |
s | that's where you can really kind of |
s | express yourself and you know oh this |
s | looks like a good place to have a dining |
s | room this looks like a good place to put |
s | my bed |
s | um you know maybe uh this is looking |
s | really cozy I'd like to do my cooking in |
s | here I can play place down uh uh cooking |
s | station right so |
s | um the other point too is that like not |
s | all furniture is just cosmetic right |
s | there there could be functional |
s | furniture and we're not talking just a |
s | chair that you can you know interact |
s | with and sit down with but there might |
s | be something along the lines of |
s | furniture that gives you Buffs or um |
s | bolsters up some consumables that you |
s | may have right like so they're there |
s | there is more to the space that the |
s | house gives you to to place the |
s | furniture because that might allow you |
s | to get more function out of uh said |
s | Furniture so there's some thought that |
s | goes into |
s | whether or not you want more furniture |
s | space or Less Furniture space more fun |
s | online less Farmland |
s | it's pretty fun absolutely I love it |
s | when the furniture actually has a |
s | purpose right outside of just the visual |
s | appearance and the aesthetic of the home |
s | but is something that you know players |
s | are called to interact with because it |
s | provides a benefit in the game as well |
s | housing of course wouldn't be housing |
s | without the ability to customize that |
s | appearance and you'll see here a few |
s | different examples of housing that's |
s | representative of |
s | at least eight of the nine different |
s | races that you'll notice that the tone |
s | aren't represented here but the they |
s | will be represented in the future |
s | but the blueprint that we talked about |
s | earlier when you when you acquire this |
s | blueprint |
s | talk to me a little bit Mike about that |
s | process where do you kind of acquire |
s | These Blueprints what are the multiple |
s | ways that you can get them |
s | um |
s | essentially so a blueprint like uh the |
s | basic ones could be sold at a node a |
s | vendor uh something similar to what a |
s | node is racial influences so if it's a |
s | KLR node you should be able to buy a |
s | killer house but uh it's interesting |
s | that we tied this system to a blueprint |
s | because we can do so much more |
s | itemization portion of it so we can drop |
s | it from a boss we can make it from |
s | ascribe can write a blueprint that is |
s | very specific or unique look and and if |
s | you went to a killer node maybe they'll |
s | sell a recipe to write a medium killer |
s | house and if you go to a rent Taiwan |
s | they'll just sell you a blueprint for a |
s | large renkai house right so there is |
s | that acquisition of like blueprint |
s | collecting and then you can sell that to |
s | other players when you acquire unique |
s | housing blueprint from a boss for |
s | example right I like the market |
s | implication that that has where you |
s | essentially can get these uniquely |
s | acquired Blueprints and then you can |
s | trade and sell them to other players who |
s | might not have had the same opportunity |
s | to acquire them that you had |
s | um and in addition to that we have |
s | obviously Cosmetics that we have sold as |
s | part of different packs throughout the |
s | past uh our pre-order system |
s | those Cosmetics are split into three |
s | primary categories |
s | housing artisanship and business and we |
s | will have a breakdown that we're going |
s | to be releasing of the Cosmetics that |
s | have come previously and which |
s | categories they exist in but players |
s | will have the option to override the |
s | appearance of a blueprint that exists |
s | within one of those categories with an |
s | Associated Cosmetic Skin and you know |
s | that is obviously not just something |
s | that can be purchased through the |
s | pre-order system but also can be |
s | achieved in game as well our Cosmetics |
s | that can be applied to specific building |
s | types and we don't get as granular where |
s | let's say you might have a shrine |
s | cosmetic and you have let's say a |
s | blacksmith building that you wouldn't be |
s | able to apply the shrine to the |
s | blacksmith building if the shrine exists |
s | in the artisanship lane you can apply it |
s | to any artisanship type building but not |
s | to a house or business so giving a |
s | little bit of additional context there |
s | thank you |
s | so what are businesses you might ask |
s | after hearing that category businesses |
s | serve a specific function Mike do you |
s | want to talk to us a little bit about |
s | businesses business building is a |
s | category where we wanted to kind of |
s | Branch out of just artisanship buildings |
s | right so things like taverns things like |
s | uh Market kind of things where you can |
s | install a player stall so other people |
s | can come and visit your Freehold and buy |
s | things that that's unique to tie to you |
s | or other services like taverns where you |
s | could sell a food buff that's unique to |
s | your Tavern or something that you can |
s | kind of invest and then build so you can |
s | have a service building that's near to a |
s | POI that's really populated so you can |
s | help players to you know maybe gain more |
s | XP buff things like that and this is the |
s | perfect place where we can express that |
s | and allow players to customize their |
s | Freehold even more we wanted to Branch |
s | out from artisanship just only that and |
s | then have more options for it very cool |
s | I love I love the idea of not just the |
s | business as a whole and how it relates |
s | to kind of other players and their |
s | ability to kind of Traverse the world |
s | and see what you've accomplished but |
s | allowing players to customize the |
s | offerings that the business is capable |
s | of providing based on what they're |
s | creating as an artisanship member or |
s | even what they can acquire from other |
s | players to offer through their business |
s | as well and one one additional note here |
s | is that you know freeholds are meant to |
s | be a part of the family system meaning |
s | that to utilize the benefits the |
s | Freehold and the services and mechanics |
s | that the Freehold provides |
s | it is very conducive to be part of a |
s | family with multiple members who are |
s | capable of interfacing with this and |
s | because of that systems like the |
s | business system allow for certain |
s | permissions to be granted to administer |
s | the business functions and that includes |
s | things like setting prices and setting |
s | types of sellables that are or services |
s | that are capable of being sold through |
s | the business |
s | yeah it's also a great great mention |
s | there too is that the fact that you know |
s | freeholds there's there's not going to |
s | be a ton of ton of parcels all over the |
s | world you know that might not be |
s | feasible for every player to get one but |
s | even if you're a fan if you can be a |
s | family member and you have a whole |
s | family owning a field together it'll |
s | allow many more players to like see the |
s | system and partake in it yeah absolutely |
s | it's a I I love that aspect of the |
s | freeholds |
s | now speaking of a Tavern and |
s | um you know we've obviously talked in |
s | the past about |
s | having upgrades available uh for these |
s | types of of buildings let's use this |
s | tavern as an example |
s | um of the types of upgrades that are |
s | possible talk me through this what we're |
s | looking at here this tree upgrade path |
s | this is this is something I'm super |
s | excited about this is uh you know this |
s | is an idea that surfaced through another |
s | system that I'm sure we'll we'll get to |
s | see in in the future right and it was |
s | one of those like oh well that's fun |
s | like why can't we have that |
s | um and it just sort of played out |
s | perfectly that uh you know buildings |
s | could have upgrade paths um to to make |
s | them better or worse or more specific in |
s | a certain Lane of specialization |
s | um based on like how you're trying to |
s | set up your Freehold right so the idea |
s | is um you you place down uh the building |
s | um and as you become more proficient in |
s | a thing |
s | um in the case of artisanship or |
s | um as you work within the the business |
s | building you could |
s | um you could build up the building to be |
s | better at some things than others so |
s | what we're looking at here is just kind |
s | of an example of that right like we have |
s | this tavern we placed it down and you |
s | know we're really focused on uh wanting |
s | people to come by here and you know gain |
s | extra experience or rested experience |
s | because it's you know maybe our our |
s | Freehold is really really close to a |
s | nice hunting spot so we'll upgrade our |
s | our uh our Tavern to have these upgraded |
s | feather beds |
s | um to to give players that bonus right |
s | and and all of the things that you know |
s | you just went over Stephen about being |
s | able to set the permissions and decide |
s | who you who you want this to apply to |
s | how expensive it should be right |
s | um you could be you know that guy that's |
s | got the The Tavern that's that's helpful |
s | to the guild |
s | um you could be the the person where |
s | people like to stop by and hang out for |
s | a bit get the rest of the experience and |
s | some food Buffs before they go out |
s | hunting right and you know this allows |
s | people to you know have their freeholds |
s | next to each other and have their their |
s | their own uh niches of things that they |
s | offer to themselves to the people that |
s | they play with or you know to the public |
s | so absolutely cool yeah I I love that |
s | and and to give kind of a primer we're |
s | looking at specifically this upgrade to |
s | the tavern type business which includes |
s | the ability to offer beds to weary |
s | Travelers right and beds have a specific |
s | functionality we were talking previously |
s | about Furniture's offering in-game |
s | mechanics one of those functionalities |
s | that beds provide is a rest experience |
s | buff that can be applied this is |
s | obviously going to be kind of at the top |
s | tier of what Travelers can expect to |
s | utilize at taverns when it comes to |
s | these beds that's important because one |
s | other aspect of the freeholds is that |
s | freeholds are a privilege not a right |
s | meaning that there is a limited number |
s | of freeholds that will be available |
s | within the game world and that's a very |
s | important aspect of this particular |
s | feature and remember that housing exists |
s | within three different types freeholds |
s | are just one of those types of housings |
s | housing also exists as static in node |
s | versions as well as instanced and |
s | there's also an additional feature that |
s | we haven't I believe discussed before |
s | which is the in um and the in can |
s | Service as a temporary living space |
s | that doesn't have a restriction on the |
s | quantity but has a soft ceiling when it |
s | comes to the citizenship dues that might |
s | be accrued at a node so if you didn't |
s | own a freehold out in a location or |
s | hunting ground where you would be |
s | participating in some type of |
s | adventuring or Quest and you see a |
s | Tavern with a bed available you may want |
s | to make a stop there and utilize the bed |
s | so that when you go out to the nearby |
s | hunting ground you get that rested |
s | experience and that's an important |
s | aspect of this this is very cool I I |
s | love the aspect of the uh of the upgrade |
s | paths and being able able to specialize |
s | in the specific types of buildings that |
s | you construct now let's say for example |
s | in this situation I've constructed a |
s | Tavern and I have specked into this tier |
s | two branch of the feathered beds if I |
s | wanted to have the uh opposite direction |
s | in the technology Branch here how would |
s | I be able to service that would I have |
s | to stand up another Tavern and then spec |
s | into that Branch there |
s | oh well technically you'd have that |
s | option right you could you could um you |
s | could repurpose the current Tavern that |
s | you have or you could build yourself |
s | another Tavern if you're willing to give |
s | up the space and you know do more |
s | um that's awesome that's awesome and |
s | remember one of the oh go ahead sorry go |
s | ahead Mike I said I just want to say |
s | there's a key point of real estate in |
s | the Freehold there is limited amount of |
s | space right it's really up to the player |
s | to give that choice like is this |
s | additional Buffs on a new Tavern |
s | building worth what I'm giving up for |
s | for another building right like that's a |
s | very interesting uh take that players |
s | needs to make to |
s | make freeholds efficient right exactly |
s | and and just to remind you guys again |
s | these are the systems we will be testing |
s | in Alpha two and it's important that you |
s | guys provide feedback across these types |
s | of systems tell us what you like what |
s | you think could be done better and as |
s | you play test them in Alpha 2 and as you |
s | watch other players play test these |
s | systems |
s | um afterwards that is going to be our |
s | opportunity to take the feedback and |
s | iterate on the system so it's important |
s | to kind of uh you know focus in on these |
s | on these details now outside of |
s | businesses let's talk a little bit a bit |
s | a little bit about artisanship and more |
s | specifically |
s | um processing as it exists within the |
s | freeholds and how the Freehold ties into |
s | the artisanship as a whole Corey |
s | yeah so uh you know we talked about the |
s | the three lanes of the buildings right |
s | and and artisanship is one of them so um |
s | the way that we're sort of tying that in |
s | is that each um crafting and processing |
s | profession will have a building building |
s | associated with it right so uh before |
s | you can place any sort of stations down |
s | that are associated with that crafting |
s | or processing profession you'll have to |
s | uh construct your building and once the |
s | building is constructed right |
s | um uh it has that that similar Tech tree |
s | thing going on right so you can you can |
s | spec it in in the direction you'd like |
s | it to go and maybe that synergizes or |
s | balances out the way that you're you're |
s | expecting your your profession |
s | um and uh yeah it gives you access to |
s | placing uh stations it gives you access |
s | to placing more stations um and then we |
s | also have |
s | um some benefits that are conferred by |
s | the building itself to |
s | um all of the things related on the |
s | Freehold so let's say |
s | um there's some sort of weaponsmithing |
s | bonus given by a weaponsmithing building |
s | that would mean that your weapon |
s | smithing stations on your Freehold would |
s | incur that bonus so very cool yeah I I |
s | really like the aspect of |
s | you know some games take a direction |
s | um that departs a bit from realism and I |
s | think ultimately the end goal of any |
s | system that you implement into a game is |
s | to have fun right is that gameplay Loop |
s | there fun |
s | um and I feel personally and this is |
s | just a completely subjective opinion but |
s | um I feel personally when you can |
s | achieve a high degree of fun and also |
s | achieve a high degree of realism in the |
s | process that's the type of MMO |
s | experience I personally enjoy a lot and |
s | I think that with this Freehold system |
s | and emulating that realistic kind of |
s | process |
s | um of you know what processing looks |
s | like and we're going to get into a |
s | little bit of detail on that about how |
s | these processing stations work that are |
s | afforded through the processing |
s | buildings that you can construct |
s | um I I just think that's that's |
s | something that's really cool it gets me |
s | immersed it gets me kind of my the |
s | suspension of disbelief is really there |
s | um and I'm I'm just enamored by |
s | you know what that play experience is |
s | yeah I totally agree it's a big time |
s | like Factory Sim player you know I I |
s | love setting up these processing chains |
s | of you know raw resources to process to |
s | craft I feel like we're going at a |
s | really fun level for players they're |
s | gonna enjoy like you know going out in |
s | the world Gathering taking those uh raw |
s | resources their free will be process and |
s | then taking that to the node to do the |
s | highest level crafting right that's just |
s | a really like uh fun and engaging loop I |
s | absolutely yeah absolutely I'm very |
s | excited about it as well I'm I'm a |
s | pretty crafting artisanship focused |
s | player myself and um I I appreciate |
s | depth I appreciate |
s | um fun and I appreciate uh you know |
s | complexity to a limit right so this is |
s | stuff for me to think about as a player |
s | I get to I have my own space I get to |
s | manage that space I get to decide you |
s | know what I want to do with it |
s | um I get to decide how I wanted to |
s | synergize with the professions I've |
s | chosen chosen |
s | um I could make a name for myself I can |
s | make social connections by the way that |
s | I express myself as a whatever |
s | profession I'm into |
s | um and and Freehold is sort of sort of a |
s | a mecca for that |
s | um especially in the in the processing |
s | realm right um one of the things that I |
s | didn't quite touch on that's uh that's |
s | up here on the screen right now is that |
s | um the the highest level of processing |
s | happens only in the Freehold so at the |
s | the master and Grand Master Level of |
s | processing you'll need a freehold to to |
s | perform at that level |
s | um and then on the on the crafting side |
s | you know we want the the highest level |
s | of crafting to happen in a node so |
s | players will be able to craft on their |
s | freeholds but uh the max that you'll be |
s | able to progress to is a journeyman |
s | level |
s | awesome very cool |
s | well speaking of processing talk to us a |
s | little bit about the process of |
s | processing |
s | yeah we'll do so um so uh uh processing |
s | each processing profession will have |
s | four stations um and the stations will |
s | come online as you progress through the |
s | profession |
s | um each one of those stations will make |
s | Goods that are immediately useful uh to |
s | to the economy to Crafters to other |
s | processors and each processing station |
s | will build on itself and into the other |
s | stations right so you'll you'll end up |
s | kind of at the end if you if you do end |
s | up you know going all the way to master |
s | or Grand Master being able to kind of |
s | circle between the stations and and make |
s | different stuff depending on what you |
s | want to make |
s | um |
s | uh so in addition to |
s | um |
s | using kind of resources in in your |
s | recipes uh we also want uh we want to |
s | use fuel |
s | um as a way to run your station |
s | yeah that's super cool the fuel is a is |
s | I think an awesome kind of talking a |
s | little bit about again that that that |
s | realistic kind of process I really love |
s | the addition of the fuel and kind of the |
s | complexity as that fuel interacts with |
s | the type of processed good that you're |
s | creating I think that's a really cool |
s | system |
s | yeah it's like players are I feel like |
s | uh players are definitely used to that |
s | with like for example like iron ore for |
s | example you'd expect that to you know |
s | require some coal some wood pellets |
s | right to complete that recipe but even I |
s | think that's just gonna be something |
s | where I'm gonna have core to processing |
s | where uh any recipe you'll do is going |
s | to require some level of fuel so even |
s | like at a sawmill right processing your |
s | Lumber you also require fuel to run and |
s | that's kind of gonna be something |
s | players will learn about learn what are |
s | good fuels what resources can work as a |
s | fuel and what's what's what's uh The |
s | Meta there |
s | yeah definitely getting dialed in with |
s | the economy and understanding you know |
s | what's the price efficiency of using you |
s | know wood trips versus coal for you know |
s | a particular recipe and kind of looking |
s | at uh what your your returns are based |
s | on those decisions is just like that's |
s | so cool that you even get to think about |
s | any of those things right |
s | um and then just within the wheel itself |
s | right um like so the the way that we're |
s | going with the with the fuel is kind of |
s | any any item can have a fuel value on it |
s | right so |
s | um and then when you're when you're |
s | putting together you know your your job |
s | to you know make you know 100 iron |
s | ingots right there'll be some sort of |
s | value that's required to to to process |
s | that job so it'll be up to you to choose |
s | you know the fuel types that you want to |
s | let's say that it costs 100 fuel to to |
s | make those 100 ingots well you can make |
s | whatever fuel combination you you want |
s | um to to fulfill that value so |
s | yeah you might have like you know mostly |
s | amount of cold and you're like I need I |
s | need to throw some extra wood chips in |
s | there right to finish the finish the |
s | recipe off or you might have a really |
s | high quality like refined fuel you've |
s | made and that that'll that one fool will |
s | be able to do many many jobs and before |
s | it depletes itself so there's a lot of a |
s | lot of freedom players have there in |
s | determining how they power their station |
s | love it and obviously I didn't mention |
s | this before but what you guys are seeing |
s | and you know uh this is an important |
s | part to get feedback in you know how do |
s | you like this format of a presentation |
s | when we get into these more systems |
s | heavy kind of uh um designs |
s | um but the art here is as I said the |
s | concept art Ryan Richmond and his team |
s | and Mike Vecchio and |
s | um and Lloyd and Jeff and you know they |
s | all do a great job in providing the rest |
s | of our development team the concepts |
s | that give direction on you know what to |
s | strive for when modeling these assets |
s | and creating these environments uh they |
s | just do a phenomenal job so kudos to |
s | them |
s | I want to point out one thing that |
s | certain stations will have the benefits |
s | in certain buildings will also have a |
s | benefit and that using those benefits |
s | depending on the quality of the station |
s | and the tier of the station like some of |
s | some of these fuel costs could be |
s | reduced right if your station is very |
s | efficient at |
s | um melting iron for example right then |
s | the fuel cost of that recipe might |
s | reduce quite a bit and also I'm coming |
s | back to the real estate thing again |
s | sorry |
s | where if you just because you have an |
s | artisanship building that doesn't |
s | necessarily mean you get to have all the |
s | stations right if you want to be best at |
s | everything that you will require |
s | multiple Artisan ship buildings and if |
s | you want access to every stations that |
s | you also require a lot of artists and |
s | ship buildings and then you can kind of |
s | tech up to be very focused on one or |
s | have all the artists and ship buildings |
s | that you can possibly have want for one |
s | specific processing and be the best at |
s | it right |
s | yeah absolutely |
s | it's a progressive amount of investment |
s | required in order to be the best |
s | um and you know these systems are |
s | designed with progression in mind |
s | because that depth that progression as |
s | as Corey was speaking earlier is what |
s | makes a lot of these systems compelling |
s | right to a degree so let's talk a little |
s | bit about the depth and progression when |
s | it comes to the lumber mill uh this is |
s | an example of an artisanship building |
s | specifically a processing building Corey |
s | talked to me a little bit about what |
s | we're looking at here |
s | yeah so this this is a you know example |
s | similar to what we're looking at with |
s | the tavern |
s | um uh but sort of following uh a lumber |
s | mill right like players will need to |
s | place a lumber mill to uh advance in |
s | their level Lumber Milling profession |
s | um and you'll be able to kind of spec it |
s | um based on what you want to focus on as |
s | as a as a lumber Miller so what we're |
s | looking at here is this you know Arcane |
s | Golem and uh you know it allows you to |
s | process uh let's see process jobs |
s | reducing resource and the fuel and gold |
s | costs of processing is dropped by 20 |
s | right so this one's sort of focusing on |
s | uh cost and efficiency and there might |
s | be other lanes or other other particular |
s | skills that you can pick up that might |
s | focus on more yield |
s | um uh uh maybe Rarity procs stuff like |
s | that right so what's really interesting |
s | is that you can kind of take take these |
s | trees and apply it to your skill tree in |
s | your profession and sort of you know |
s | balance or you know hyper Focus or fill |
s | in uh fill in the gaps that you're |
s | missing as you progress yeah |
s | yeah and as you can see the Arcane Golem |
s | is kind of like the final like ultimate |
s | uh end Talent at this at this uh this |
s | specific skill tree so you can see on |
s | the bottom left there's already you know |
s | a couple different active upgrades that |
s | are already applying bonuses to all the |
s | stations on the Freehold that are |
s | related to the lumber mill so you see we |
s | have double saw improved permit gear |
s | system Station Main and stuff like that |
s | so |
s | it'll be a kind of a culmination once |
s | you fully spec out your building it'll |
s | have a variety of benefits it'll be |
s | adding to those stations |
s | as you kind of spec into these specific |
s | types of of upgrades the building itself |
s | manifests props and attachments to it |
s | that represent these different upgrade |
s | paths |
s | so it's a it's a really kind of cool |
s | thing to see |
s | exist kind of on the Freehold it gives |
s | also indication to the other players as |
s | as to what specializations you focused |
s | on |
s | yeah definitely like that same we're |
s | hoping to get that same feeling where |
s | you know what you walk by that person |
s | and you're like holy that's that |
s | sword |
s | um yes uh you know you could you could |
s | walk by someone's Tavern and be like oh |
s | they got the the bar in the window like |
s | I can just roll up there and get myself |
s | a quick snack and a drink and um you |
s | know head out head on out to the to the |
s | hunting grounds or you know |
s | um that they went down a certain path |
s | for the the lumber will upgrade and they |
s | know that this is probably the processor |
s | that you want to reach out to for your |
s | for all of your uh wood needs |
s | yes absolutely well |
s | so guys as as we said this was a little |
s | bit of an experiment kind of prefacing |
s | uh this particular system the Freehold |
s | system uh before we get in game and and |
s | take a look uh Bucky I think you have a |
s | freehold somewhere in the riverlands |
s | perhaps by some some interesting mining |
s | options uh that we're going to take a |
s | look at now hopefully we don't get |
s | killed on the way |
s | um but give us your feedback on what you |
s | enjoyed or thought could have been done |
s | better about this PowerPoint kind of |
s | presentation of the system so that we |
s | get a little bit more nitty-gritty |
s | details of this and we're going to do |
s | some q a after the gameplay but right |
s | now let's talk a little bit about and go |
s | in game and and take a look at some |
s | farming let's take a look at the |
s | livestock and those interactions because |
s | I know that those two specific |
s | interactions on freeholds is near and |
s | dear to a lot of different players |
s | hearts and then in addition there's |
s | going to be a little bit of discussion |
s | about our inventory management system |
s | we've I've told you a little bit in the |
s | past that we have gone with a kind of |
s | tetra styled inventory when it comes to |
s | materials and raw gatherables so we're |
s | going to take a look the first iteration |
s | of that of course everything here is a |
s | work in progress we are still active in |
s | development towards Alpha 2 |
s | um so take everything you see with a |
s | grain of salt but obviously participate |
s | on our Forums on social media channels |
s | um here in twitch on the things you're |
s | liking and what you've seen and what you |
s | would like to see done differently |
s | um one other thing I think we're going |
s | to take a look at when we get in there |
s | is some of the housing some of the |
s | furniture interacting with uh with some |
s | of that furniture as well you might even |
s | get a look at a new little Mount but |
s | let's switch over to in-game and we will |
s | see you guys in just a second |
s | thank you |
s | [Music] |
s | [Applause] |
s | [Music] |
s | hello everyone and we find ourselves now |
s | in the world of Vera once again and uh |
s | Bucky I think you were talking a little |
s | bit about a freehold that you have |
s | nearby in the riverlands here where |
s | we're gonna perhaps participate in some |
s | of your |
s | what do you got on that Freehold what |
s | are you doing over there |
s | so we got a lot of uh farming stuff |
s | mainly that's what we're focusing on but |
s | we also have a uh Artisan building as |
s | well nice Gorge stationed because we got |
s | some good mining opportunities out here |
s | okay very cool and uh I see you kind of |
s | are close to this |
s | this kind of these ruins |
s | with your Freehold I guess is there any |
s | happening spots around this area for you |
s | guys |
s | yeah for sure I mean we got some we got |
s | some mob packs around here players are |
s | coming through here a lot to you know |
s | obviously get the uh yeah this nice |
s | resource here we got some uh I like a |
s | night is that why you you formed your |
s | Freehold near the these this precious |
s | resource talk to me a little bit about |
s | this this resource uh Corey and and or |
s | Mike |
s | oh yeah that's uh so this is halcyonite |
s | it's a kind of a mid-tier journeyman |
s | um a gem |
s | um and yeah it's just sort of a |
s | something you would use in in weapons |
s | and for decorations jewelry so it's |
s | pretty pretty sought after for a lot of |
s | crafts so that's pretty valuable I love |
s | the uh I love just its look I mean it |
s | adds a really kind of |
s | um magical uh Blues to this area wow |
s | this is a beautiful now Bucky I know why |
s | you made your Freehold here this is a |
s | beautiful view |
s | yep just another beautiful day in Vera |
s | oh my gosh do you ever get like afraid |
s | of heights here I mean this is kind of |
s | crazy |
s | I think actually I might have something |
s | that could help you with this hold on |
s | let me see |
s | I can just to bring it up here and then |
s | if you ever need to use it one day feel |
s | free to you're more than welcome |
s | oh yes beautiful perfect oh it's not |
s | even on theme for the fall weather I |
s | know exactly it's a drink of the canopy |
s | perfect yeah if you ever want to take |
s | him for a spin just let me know okay all |
s | right but uh yeah there you go actually |
s | I'll put him away he's kind of afraid of |
s | heights himself so |
s | I can mine this and so I've maxed out |
s | um my artisanship levels through a |
s | little bit of a cheat but uh |
s | if you have the tools and |
s | oops do I have the tools okay guys |
s | you're seeing a little bit of a preview |
s | of some of the work in progress UI with |
s | the artisanship windows and obviously |
s | you have a number of tools here that are |
s | possible this UI of course is getting |
s | completely revamped this is just kind of |
s | the the um the wireframing for it but |
s | talk to me a little bit about the tool |
s | setup why is it important to have these |
s | kind of tools how do tools Aid you in |
s | your Gathering Adventures |
s | yeah so um so uh each uh Gathering |
s | profession will have three tools um the |
s | tools kind of compliant online as you |
s | progress through the profession uh and |
s | the different uh resource types for each |
s | one of the profession may require |
s | different tools so |
s | um you basically want to carry around |
s | the the right tool for the job |
s | and tools along with artisanship gear |
s | will have stats on it so you can itemize |
s | towards how you want to gather how fast |
s | you want to gather yeah |
s | oh it looks great I love the the uh the |
s | destruction of the actual like |
s | uh is it halcyonite how can I whatever |
s | yeah I'll see you at night yeah I mean |
s | nice we sort of set the precedent with |
s | trees right so um we're trying to get uh |
s | similar feelings uh that the trees bring |
s | with our other uh gatherables yeah it's |
s | looking great now where is where is your |
s | Freehold uh it's just over this hill |
s | here off to the left of the path I think |
s | you might be able to see my uh the house |
s | there with this chimney smoke as well |
s | okay yeah that looks good how do we |
s | let's let's get over there a little bit |
s | faster maybe we can uh oh yeah |
s | what do we got oh I don't think people |
s | have seen the uh |
s | Lightfoot yet |
s | let's bring him out oh look at him how |
s | cool is that |
s | I look so good |
s | I love the eyes |
s | super cool do we know who did this one |
s | was this jincey |
s | I I think I believe there was a ginty |
s | yeah yeah |
s | oh wow this guy's fast it's high speed |
s | is a rabbit after all you know |
s | that's so cool wait we gotta slow it |
s | down a little bit we gotta I can't |
s | Approach at such Fast Pace to your to |
s | your Freehold that would be |
s | disrespectful |
s | don't trample my plants please oh |
s | perfect |
s | this is great it's harder rabbits |
s | so what have you geared it looks like I |
s | mean you don't have a lot of buildings |
s | on the Freehold uh for yours Bucky is |
s | that because you're kind of trying to |
s | utilize the land for farming and and |
s | I know of course you are doctor Bucky so |
s | the animal husbandry system and like |
s | livestock |
s | that's exactly right yeah so I I |
s | sacrificed some of the space I could |
s | have used for buildings to just have |
s | more Farm space basically so as you can |
s | see here we got some you know we got |
s | some sheeps we got some cows and pigs |
s | and we got some chickens back there and |
s | we have a lot of space for different |
s | farmables so |
s | we have a wheat here corn and then the |
s | tomatoes over there as well oh this |
s | looks great so now |
s | Mike when we're talking about you know |
s | these types of farmable spaces obviously |
s | as we discussed previously you know the |
s | customization options for your Freehold |
s | are really kind of up to you and what |
s | you want to delve into on the processing |
s | side of things and how you want to use |
s | the space but players who want to |
s | participate in the farming talk to me a |
s | little bit about that system I mean the |
s | intent excuse me |
s | to provide this open area space for |
s | people to utilize just growing different |
s | crop rotations and the livestock and how |
s | does that feed the the general |
s | processing system yeah so the farming is |
s | kind of generally focused on growing |
s | crops like this and then dealing with |
s | livestocks over there like that |
s | um but generally what you want to do is |
s | get gather some seeds from either vendor |
s | or open in the world you can gather or |
s | find some seeds on the open content and |
s | you're gonna come to your Freehold and |
s | plant them and then depending on what |
s | kind of processing level you have and |
s | what kind of processing stations or |
s | buildings you might have you might grow |
s | crops like a little faster produce like |
s | better crop rotations and just generally |
s | Farm things that's unique to farming |
s | produce like compared to the in the open |
s | world yeah so and I just got a bunch of |
s | Wheat by the way I apologize Bucky on |
s | stealing your weed |
s | I got plenty it's it's harvest season |
s | you know we got a big crop coming I need |
s | some help getting all the Harvest done |
s | yeah it looks super cool |
s | another cool thing about farming too |
s | since it has the the livestock |
s | um is that it kind of feeds directly |
s | into to hunting and synergizes with uh |
s | animal husbandry so if you're interested |
s | in in raising animals taming animals |
s | um you know farmers will have a use for |
s | them |
s | yeah exactly so yeah animal husbandry |
s | has multiple Lanes of ways to breed and |
s | specialize your creatures and |
s | mallets and pets are one of the more |
s | popular ones but then obviously |
s | livestock as well so not only can you |
s | breed your animals for traits such as |
s | like movement speed and health and |
s | different combat stats but you'll also |
s | be able to breed them for desirable |
s | traits like you know fertility increase |
s | harvesting yield and even uh increase |
s | yield from butchering foreign |
s | [Music] |
s | with their |
s | style here very nice very nice oh I just |
s | got some eggs okay now one of the other |
s | things that we wanted to obviously |
s | collect player feedback on and I'm going |
s | to open up the inventory |
s | um just to kind of take a look at the |
s | materials uh resource bag talk to me a |
s | little bit about how we are implementing |
s | resources differently from your general |
s | item inventory |
s | um so we're taking an approach from |
s | other games but the idea of resource is |
s | gonna have someone of a slot base |
s | instead of having a slot base like |
s | traditional MMO we're gonna look for |
s | like a Tetris kind of idea of having |
s | different shapes and different stock |
s | sizes kind of like that to make some |
s | interesting choices out in the world |
s | where you have to do inventory |
s | management and have a pick and choose |
s | depending on like what you have |
s | available what kind of bags you have |
s | now I seem to have kind of run out of |
s | space |
s | um maybe I can grab do you have any oh |
s | yeah if you want you can come uh put |
s | some stuff in the chest in the house or |
s | uh are your bags too small or what's |
s | yeah no I only have one bag it's called |
s | a Sanctus resource oh yeah I got some |
s | extra bags for you actually you could |
s | take some from my chest oh this is |
s | nicely decorated home here |
s | oh you have the uh |
s | you have the |
s | oh man I can't remember what we called |
s | this but this was for the um pandemic |
s | everyone who I think registered prior to |
s | a certain date during the pandemic |
s | Margaret will know |
s | um we granted this item to people or |
s | will be granted to people that's cool |
s | it's modeled look at that I think Ryan |
s | Richmond actually did the modeling for |
s | that and then John uh waynick into the |
s | implementation very cool that looks |
s | awesome where's the chest I can grab uh |
s | right here by the fireplace oh okay |
s | sweet let me see here the materials oh |
s | okay |
s | all right so uh what do I do here just |
s | grab this |
s | they just take them all and swap it out |
s | I think I'll equip them |
s | okay cool I have some now this is |
s | obviously work in progress uh UI this is |
s | not the final UI but this kind of |
s | demonstrates the functionality of the |
s | system |
s | let me go over here what can I do with |
s | these sheep |
s | you can Harvest them for uh we'll shoot |
s | them |
s | all right this this is not going to hurt |
s | them is it no |
s | you do a good job |
s | give me your wool yeah oh it gave me |
s | some wool and now it's naked that's so |
s | sad |
s | it'll grow back |
s | oh how so so talk to you perfect that's |
s | a good point so it'll grow back talk to |
s | me a little bit about kind of you know |
s | the intent behind the the livestock here |
s | and the crops as well like you're |
s | planting and you're placing these |
s | livestock uh on farmable Space within |
s | the within your Freehold and then over |
s | time they mature and become processible |
s | or how does that work |
s | oh yeah that's pretty much exactly it |
s | um certain certain things like for the |
s | crops for example you need to acquire |
s | seeds first which can be acquired |
s | through a number of ways but once you |
s | plant them uh you'll have to water them |
s | and care for them and then after a |
s | certain point depending on the crop |
s | itself uh would be when you can Harvest |
s | them |
s | and then you can replant them at that |
s | point and then for Animals uh different |
s | animals have different you know sort of |
s | byproducts I can get like so for example |
s | from here from the cow you could you |
s | could milk them and get some uh fresh |
s | milk |
s | but the they have horns are these |
s | it's the right cow oh there's no |
s | shutters there's others down there okay |
s | all right let's see |
s | oh I got a lick a little stool |
s | wow that's some rapid paced milking holy |
s | |
s | crazy |
s | hold on let me make sure I got the milk |
s | oh we did get the milk let me pull it |
s | down here |
s | put some corn down as well |
s | do some reorganization there yeah kind |
s | of just reorganizing things |
s | another sort of interesting thing that |
s | you'll see with you know livestock and |
s | other types of things that you can |
s | gather is |
s | um uh you'll be able to kind of choose |
s | the things that you want to gather from |
s | it right um Bucky had mentioned the |
s | animal byproducts right and you know |
s | milk is a byproduct of a cow and you |
s | know so is beef so it's up to you kind |
s | of how and when you want to harvest your |
s | Livestock in certain ways and the you |
s | know same same with plants maybe you |
s | want to you know take take the corn and |
s | maybe you want to cut down the the |
s | entire uh |
s | corn plant to make room for other crops |
s | and you know there's different bread |
s | products depending on how you interact |
s | with that gatherable now this is going |
s | to be |
s | another point of good player feedback so |
s | one we kind of talked to you and showed |
s | you guys a little bit of the systems for |
s | planting crops on your Freehold |
s | for |
s | raising livestock collecting resources |
s | from them |
s | this and then the tetris inventory type |
s | system |
s | but this one is more game philosophy |
s | slash |
s | immersion right and what you're going to |
s | see now |
s | I think for those of you who are a bit |
s | squeamish if you want to turn away |
s | understandable but we're gonna get some |
s | leather |
s | and what else from the side Meat |
s | um yeah some meat kind of whatever you'd |
s | expect from a pig yep bacon all right |
s | well all right I apologize little buddy |
s | you had a good long life you did have a |
s | good long life happy life on the farm |
s | and now oh God go to sleep |
s | now oh we got the hide in the meat but |
s | it's oh that's sad is it it's just |
s | sleeping is it tired that was intense |
s | yeah yeah yeah for sure it's sleepy yeah |
s | don't worry let's go uh yeah nothing to |
s | see here |
s | sorry little piglets |
s | the piglets okay I'll take good care of |
s | you oh let them let them live a little |
s | bit of a life you'll become big and then |
s | we'll uh oh okay |
s | so guys that's a that's a great point of |
s | player feedback talk to us a little bit |
s | about how real slash immersive do you |
s | want it to be or do you prefer that uh |
s | perhaps the pigs don't die but rather |
s | they just go to sleep |
s | um that's that's a good question I think |
s | for for a lot of people to give their |
s | thoughts on okay so now now we have |
s | um I'm seeing over here there's another |
s | building obviously we have the the home |
s | here we went inside a little bit this |
s | other building talked to me a little bit |
s | about that we talked a little bit in the |
s | presentation about |
s | um the profession buildings and them |
s | giving access to workstations what do we |
s | have here |
s | so this is the um Artisan building that |
s | we talked about |
s | um and then these give General benefits |
s | to the Freehold it could be profession |
s | specific it could be just general |
s | specific but it also gives you like |
s | access to putting down stations like |
s | this so this would be the metal working |
s | station oh nice okay and I see this this |
s | station's pretty |
s | pretty intensive and and that's I think |
s | something we're going to be showing in a |
s | future stream which is all about The |
s | Crafting process and the recipe |
s | acquisition and the tools but also |
s | um a little bit of a gameplay layer that |
s | Corey Mike you guys have been working on |
s | with crafting in the future that we're |
s | going to show but this one's all about |
s | processing and tell me talk to me a |
s | little bit about we talked a little bit |
s | about what it takes to go into the fuel |
s | to prep the station to do the processed |
s | goods and then kind of leaving and |
s | letting that you know process over time |
s | um |
s | do you expect that players are going to |
s | want to like fully kit out their |
s | freeholds with the profession building |
s | so they have access to all the stations |
s | what would be the benefit of that |
s | and I I think so right like if players |
s | are really interested in investing in |
s | processing right |
s | um you know the freeholds are supposed |
s | to kind of give the players the the |
s | furthest reach up to the highest tiers |
s | of process processing so if you want to |
s | you know allocate most of your space in |
s | your rehold in your Freehold for um uh |
s | you know processing buildings processing |
s | stations uh you could you could create |
s | like kind of your your own processing |
s | plant or or factory |
s | um and really sort of you know have a |
s | have a Stranglehold on a market or |
s | particular Goods so the Freehold is |
s | supposed to be free space for players to |
s | kind of do whatever they'd like you know |
s | decorate housing have businesses |
s | um or create a you know processing |
s | Empire so cool very cool well I did get |
s | some |
s | some supplies whoops I did get some |
s | supplies uh Bucky do you want me to like |
s | put this in the chest or anything or |
s | yeah yeah you can just empty on the |
s | store here in my chest for now so you |
s | can go out no plants |
s | oh yeah yeah that's right towards these |
s | oh |
s | mother one's here |
s | very nice oh it's a more exploded oh no |
s | oh you got stuff at least right yeah |
s | yeah we did yeah we're good all right |
s | let me go put this inside wait let me |
s | make sure I actually did get the |
s | tomatoes |
s | I got a full bag at this point almost |
s | oh I did get some Tomatoes okay there we |
s | go |
s | now you've obviously done a great job |
s | with the inter with the decorations here |
s | on the furniture |
s | um and you know we don't intend |
s | Furniture to obviously just be visual |
s | aspect of the Interior but functional as |
s | well talk to me a little bit about that |
s | yeah so obviously we've seen here the |
s | chest right the chest is a placeable |
s | Furniture prop that actually increases |
s | the storage capacity of your of your |
s | Freehold property but we're going to |
s | have a variety of you know other |
s | functional Furnitures like besides just |
s | even the artisanship stations so for |
s | example we have a bed over here which |
s | you'll be able to sleep in as well get |
s | some rest experience perhaps also we'll |
s | have chairs those are just like kind of |
s | cosmetic you'll be able to sit in and uh |
s | yeah there'll be a variety of functional |
s | uh prop items as well that'll have |
s | actual gameplay uh uses |
s | nice that's awesome |
s | let's see I'm just putting all this |
s | stuff into the uh into the into your |
s | storage chest so you have it |
s | very nice Free Labor I see you have some |
s | pictures in here as well yep yep that's |
s | the picture I commissioned to myself |
s | oh is this it is that is that you yes it |
s | is actual me and armor it's actual Bucky |
s | that is so great I think this is your |
s | favorite Stephen yes yes sandals oh the |
s | classic awesome that is super cool now |
s | obviously players that we talked a |
s | little bit about businesses and how |
s | players can kind of stand up different |
s | taverns and whatnot and Bucky you had |
s | stated like one of the reasons why you |
s | wanted to have your Freehold here in |
s | this location was because of some of the |
s | access to the rare resources but there's |
s | also some interesting hunting grounds |
s | nearby |
s | um |
s | and |
s | you know one of the things that is |
s | interesting about the Freehold system is |
s | that it's not just architected for |
s | processing but it can also be a |
s | profitable location based on where uh |
s | and what you're providing other players |
s | access to from a like drink and food |
s | Tavern perspective right yeah we |
s | mentioned it before like there's um |
s | business types of buildings that you can |
s | build some of these could be very region |
s | specific like if there was a hunting |
s | ground nearby that is very populated we |
s | could set up a Tavern sell like food |
s | Buffs and drinks that is really good for |
s | XP bonuses or increase to your loot |
s | chance or something like that whatever |
s | that may increase some kind of a benefit |
s | to the player that is |
s | um good business like I said |
s | um if we set up here where you could |
s | just get um |
s | take advantage of the populated player |
s | area that's awesome that's super cool |
s | I love it and you were saying um |
s | you know obviously |
s | having access to |
s | an open world where you're not |
s | necessarily restricted to the locations |
s | that you can place these freeholds but |
s | allowing the players to kind of place |
s | them themselves |
s | obviously we are going to block out |
s | certain areas that can't be placed like |
s | certain Road networks and pois but |
s | generally the intent is to to provide |
s | these freeholds uh as layable plots in |
s | the open world is that right |
s | yeah that's right so as long as you uh |
s | purchase a certificate from the owning |
s | node of the land you'll be able to place |
s | it in many places around the node like |
s | just basically anywhere that's not like |
s | a you know dungeon or a |
s | point of Interest with monsters you'll |
s | be able to place in a lot of areas so |
s | players will have a lot of freedom in |
s | choosing where they want to build build |
s | their Freel and lay down their their |
s | plot so it'll be a big like obviously |
s | here like we you said I was looking at |
s | the you know we got the mines over there |
s | we got the point of interest but we also |
s | have this large flat area for a lot of |
s | farming and so it was kind of a good mix |
s | for this Freehold |
s | yeah |
s | super cool love it Buck you have a very |
s | cool Freehold you know I think I'm |
s | getting a little bit tired can I you |
s | mind if I just take a little nap you |
s | know oh sure yeah I mean it's a great |
s | great bed you'll get some rested |
s | experience it'll be perfect I um I was |
s | concerned a little bit with the nearby |
s | enemy populations perhaps maybe you guys |
s | can keep watch over me as I go to sleep |
s | oh yeah yeah yeah for sure don't worry |
s | you'll be you'll be safe we'll uh |
s | [Music] |
s | well everybody I hope you guys enjoyed |
s | this uh brief look at Bucky's Freehold a |
s | little bit about the um processing for |
s | uh uh livestock as well as crops and |
s | take a look at the new mounts some of |
s | the resources that are placed around the |
s | riverlands area and also a little look |
s | at the housing system with some of the |
s | furniture that you have access to kind |
s | of use |
s | and provide a little bit of benefit |
s | that you have access to |
s | for your game play and with that being |
s | said I think we'll wish you all a do and |
s | a good night and we will see you next |
s | time thank you guys for joining us |
s | later thank you for having us |
s | [Music] |
s | hello everybody I'm gonna be playing the |
s | video in the background while we answer |
s | some preliminary questions because we |
s | know there was a lot of thoughts and |
s | clarifications that we want to make |
s | um you're muted Stephen |
s | uh oh there we go I think I heard |
s | something |
s | yeah yeah you're good okay sorry I said |
s | I feel like after that we all need to |
s | get up and do a little bit of a stretch |
s | just kind of move around a little bit I |
s | know it was a long one that's why I told |
s | everybody bring your snacks strap in uh |
s | we got a lot more to show and of course |
s | we want to do some clarifications |
s | um the first one is that we will have |
s | the gameplay video part of it in 4k up |
s | on YouTube after this live stream and |
s | then the full video will be up the full |
s | Dev update should be up tomorrow pending |
s | technology and YouTube collaborate with |
s | us and twitch |
s | um but you wanted to make some |
s | clarifications on the predetermined |
s | aspects yeah absolutely so um |
s | I want to kind of clarify the way that |
s | the predetermined Parcels work versus |
s | laying down the Freehold where you wish |
s | right so essentially |
s | each zone of influence in the world has |
s | designated large swaths of land that act |
s | sort of as these Parcels that can be |
s | catered to specific like points of |
s | interest or thematically you know |
s | relevant and you might want to bid on |
s | that that kind of almost County size |
s | area where you then get to place your |
s | Freehold right and once you have bid on |
s | those uh that area at the node then you |
s | can acquire the um the Freehold plot and |
s | you go out into that zone that section |
s | that you have bid on and Acquired and |
s | you place your Freehold footprint which |
s | is a previously we had set the Freehold |
s | size to about a half an acre however |
s | recently that's chain well not recently |
s | a while ago that changed to be one and a |
s | half acres or roughly 100 by 60 and of |
s | course we're still in development so |
s | things might change change you know |
s | continually just general disclaimer as |
s | in development these systems are subject |
s | to change so right now they're about one |
s | and a half acres so you go out there and |
s | you go to that predetermined slice of |
s | land that's very large you know it's |
s | many many acres and then you choose |
s | where you want to place your plot for |
s | the Freehold that's about a one and a |
s | half acres and then on that plot you get |
s | blueprints for buildings like your house |
s | and the in the artisanship buildings or |
s | businesses and you place those |
s | blueprints down on the plot that you |
s | placed and you construct them with |
s | materials |
s | I think some people have concerns about |
s | the bidding aspect of freeholds but oh |
s | yeah yeah sure no so so bidding is |
s | essentially once you've completed a |
s | quest uh in order to uh bid right it's |
s | kind of like a little bit of a lordship |
s | quest right where like you know you're |
s | entitled to own this land so to speak |
s | you've proven yourself worthy for the |
s | node to Grant you this Parcels |
s | um uh deed |
s | um then on a regular Cadence especially |
s | at the Inception or the beginning of a |
s | node a number of those Parcels will be |
s | available to bid for and players who Bid |
s | and Win that bid then get to place their |
s | Freehold on that on that section of the |
s | world right |
s | um and the idea is is to remember that |
s | like nodes are built up and nodes can |
s | fall through the destruction of either |
s | um atrophy events or sieges and when |
s | that happens these freeholds can be |
s | subject to destruction uh and if a new |
s | node develops uh then that cyclical kind |
s | of recycling of these locations become |
s | available again |
s | yeah |
s | I think people are like it's too real |
s | for housing |
s | um yes well and remember freeholds are |
s | just one form of three different |
s | technically now four with the ends three |
s | different types of housing so freeholds |
s | are are really the ultimate |
s | um level of you know process oriented or |
s | Artisan artisanship oriented um housing |
s | type |
s | um but there's also static in node |
s | housing and there's uh Apartments as |
s | well yeah and |
s | next up we've got a clarification that |
s | we'll be putting out an article for |
s | Freehold building cosmetic concerns I |
s | know there was a lot of concerns in |
s | regards to that to make things a little |
s | bit more clear and we'll also be |
s | updating to item descriptions as well in |
s | inventory but um one of the main things |
s | that people had noted was if freeholds |
s | are going to be limited what happens if |
s | I bought a freehold of building cosmetic |
s | and I know you wanted to address that |
s | Stephen yeah absolutely |
s | um so in the same sense that we've done |
s | flying mounts types of cosmetics and or |
s | tier two mounts these require you to |
s | acquire them and there are many ways to |
s | acquire a freehold not just through the |
s | quest system first come first serve on a |
s | per node basis but you can also sell and |
s | purchase a freehold as well now again |
s | freeholds are restricted to one per |
s | account so if you're going to acquire |
s | Freehold and then sell it you can only |
s | sell it to an account that doesn't |
s | already own a freehold so because these |
s | are relative one to sell correct that's |
s | correct and because these um these |
s | freeholds are an integral component of |
s | the artisanship system fulfilling kind |
s | of the best processing that's available |
s | within ashes of creation |
s | um these are constantly going to be |
s | coming up for sale we're establishing |
s | kind of a real estate market that |
s | players can invest in and then sell uh |
s | within the in-game economy but also they |
s | are a resource that's subject to removal |
s | through the sieging system as well right |
s | so there's a bit of risk implied there |
s | but the idea is that this is something |
s | for players to strive for and to achieve |
s | those who wish to to achieve this |
s | um and anyone who sets their mind to it |
s | or sets it to their goal to work up |
s | either enough money in game to purchase |
s | a freehold from another player or is is |
s | at a node where a freehold is available |
s | and you've developed your you know |
s | personal Holdings to acquire one through |
s | the bidding system or if you become a |
s | member of a family those are all methods |
s | by which you can have access to the |
s | Freehold and then utilize your Cosmetics |
s | for the uh for the uh the buildings okay |
s | and then and by the way just just as |
s | real quick I just want to State |
s | something we took this different |
s | approach with the presentation and the |
s | PowerPoint side of things because this |
s | is a very in-depth Hefty system and this |
s | is very Hefty when it comes to design |
s | detail and anytime we get into a |
s | discussion about a system this |
s | intricate there's a lot of opportunity |
s | for miscommunication misinformation |
s | misunderstanding in how these systems |
s | work so that's why as Margaret said at |
s | the beginning of the stream I am |
s | scheduled for a live q a uh next week uh |
s | um and then also one another one next |
s | month that we'll be announcing soon |
s | um where I'm going to have an |
s | opportunity to kind of chat with the |
s | community and I'll probably jump on |
s | Discord after stream as well for maybe |
s | an hour or so we'll see how my schedule |
s | looks it's probably a nightmare but um I |
s | know I know I know |
s | um and I'll try to answer some questions |
s | as uh uh in Discord as well so and you |
s | know Roshan and and Cody they'll be |
s | they'll be assisting with that as well |
s | on the community side person and Beckner |
s | have been answering a lot of stuff yes |
s | yeah |
s | um you answered one of them already and |
s | then uh people would like it kind of |
s | goes hand in hand with what you were |
s | just talking about if you could talk a |
s | little bit more about Freehold |
s | permissions uh specifically one of the |
s | questions was can people Harvest from |
s | your Freehold without permissions can |
s | they steal from your Freehold no they |
s | people cannot steal from your Freehold |
s | they cannot Harvest without your |
s | permission you can have uh if you're |
s | unfamiliar with the family system take a |
s | little bit of a look at that of course |
s | the ashes Wiki is a great uh location of |
s | um uh resources I know I know a lot well |
s | a lot has changed remember as we draw |
s | closer to testing dates uh these systems |
s | get iterations that can happen very |
s | rapidly as we're either internally play |
s | testing or as other systems change that |
s | facilitate a need to make changes within |
s | uh other ancillary systems you know |
s | those changes can occur that's that's |
s | part of the |
s | um the player contract so to speak with |
s | a live development is that understanding |
s | must be expressed on kind of the ability |
s | for these things to change over time |
s | because ultimately we're trying to build |
s | the best possible systems the best |
s | possible game for you guys to enjoy and |
s | it all need to make sense together and |
s | MMOs are an accumulation of many |
s | different types of games in one |
s | um and that's what makes them so unique |
s | so yeah all right and then can players |
s | be denied from buying a freehold from |
s | other players or uh by proper property |
s | anonymously |
s | no |
s | okay and then Mega Ballin which I think |
s | is funny name uh well rare blueprints |
s | have benefits Beyond just appearance |
s | um yes absolutely yeah the blueprints |
s | blueprints are the vehicle for which |
s | um unique uh mechanical Properties or |
s | in-game properties |
s | um are uh delivered to the player so |
s | buildings can have certain types of |
s | Buffs and passive benefits that are |
s | conferred based on the quality of the |
s | blueprint that's been acquired so the |
s | rarer the blueprint the the more |
s | powerful its effect |
s | okay and then does Freehold size |
s | determine how much stuff can be put |
s | inside how does a Cosmetics can impact |
s | how many things or the location of where |
s | things can be placed good call so |
s | um Cosmetics that are are very large in |
s | size we will have a system that's not |
s | been developed yet but we've been |
s | planning for this we'll have a system |
s | where multiple buildings can be occupied |
s | space Wise by the larger cosmetic so a |
s | cosmetic might replace the visual |
s | appearance of one particular building |
s | but then you'll be able to have that |
s | footprint occupy multiple buildings to |
s | replace the visual appearance of right |
s | so that way you're you're still |
s | utilizing the similar amount of space |
s | and yes when you talk about the kind of |
s | management system of the Freehold it is |
s | entailed in two parts one is a |
s | permitting system that allows for a |
s | specific number of different types of |
s | buildings that can be allotted on the |
s | Freehold and constructed that needs to |
s | be acquired through the no in which |
s | you've attained the Freehold certificate |
s | and the uh the other side of that is the |
s | space constraint as well because |
s | whatever space you're not using on the |
s | Freehold for a building plot or location |
s | can be utilized for other purposes as |
s | you saw in the in-game presentation uh |
s | such as livestock placement crop |
s | placements and rotations as well as |
s | other types of placeables |
s | all right and then the question here was |
s | are there plans to replace rest XP when |
s | with another benefit as the servers |
s | mature and majority of players are |
s | already max level |
s | um not at the moment no no right now the |
s | the beds are primarily servicing uh rest |
s | experience function |
s | um of course there are obviously |
s | opportunities where additional text tree |
s | structures could be provided or |
s | additional items might get released with |
s | expansions uh that have uh different |
s | types of benefits convert to that |
s | particular type of furniture but at the |
s | moment that's not in the plan |
s | are the upgraded uh are the upgrades |
s | skills sorry my camera is driven out |
s | um |
s | I took the Elgato update and now it's |
s | just broke my camera oh no yeah uh are |
s | the upgrades skill trees tree buildings |
s | or profession specific can you reset the |
s | trees at a cost |
s | uh you you absolutely |
s | um you I believe you can actually change |
s | the tree spec at a cost |
s | um and the upgrades are specific to the |
s | building |
s | um uh the upgrade paths are specific to |
s | the building |
s | all right and then will there be |
s | Furniture loot in drop tables if so will |
s | they be common or rare drops with Unique |
s | Designs there will be components of |
s | unique Furniture recipes |
s | um that are dropped and are rare |
s | um and those again will scale uh based |
s | on the Rarity uh and the power it |
s | confers to the specific type of |
s | furniture constructs |
s | and can married couples co-own a |
s | freehold |
s | uh no the Freehold ownership is |
s | designated by one account only and then |
s | the family system is the system that |
s | facilitates multiple accounts having |
s | permission base uh basis within that |
s | Freehold |
s | and we will have more questions but |
s | they're in the Q a segment from pulled |
s | from our forums but they will be |
s | Freehold specific and I want to go ahead |
s | uh real quick I just want to give one |
s | other uh commentary about an additional |
s | system that you guys got an early |
s | insight and early look uh at which is |
s | the inventory uh system and I want to |
s | give some clarifying commentary on the |
s | purpose and the design for that |
s | inventory system so first of all |
s | inventory is split into two separate |
s | Management Systems the first is your |
s | non-material non-gatherable uh slots |
s | those are your standard single slot non |
s | um |
s | um uh not space constrainted system |
s | right that's a standard inventory you |
s | just have a single slot and you you can |
s | pull completed items and or consumables |
s | and you know Quest items or whatever |
s | into that slot right and then when |
s | you're talking about materials |
s | specifically processed Goods |
s | um and gatherables those exist within |
s | the tetris type uh inventory system and |
s | the purpose for that is there is a and |
s | this is you're seeing a very early |
s | representation of the UI there |
s | um this is not the uh the final UI nor |
s | is it even the um existing kind of ux |
s | design that we want to facilitate with |
s | ease of access into that system this is |
s | just kind of functional currently |
s | um but what we want to achieve with that |
s | is because everything in the world is |
s | generally uh uh harvestable a resource |
s | that that could be harvested we want to |
s | have very unique progression when it |
s | comes to the construction of of resource |
s | bags right and those resource bags will |
s | have certain benefits like increasing |
s | stack size count of particular types of |
s | resources or |
s | um of having a a additional delay time |
s | necessary to interface with with your |
s | core corpse should a player try to take |
s | the resources you might have dropped in |
s | PvP or having passive benefits and |
s | unique structures of spacing that makes |
s | it more a better bag for wood Gathering |
s | because Woods are three by one or a |
s | better bag for mining because you know |
s | mining is always two by two like the |
s | idea is to make your intent as a |
s | gatherer when you go out into the wild |
s | specific right not just that you're |
s | going out into the wild and Gathering |
s | everything you can because it's there |
s | and that's what we don't have like a |
s | labor system that limits it right we |
s | have a space constraint system so when |
s | you leave your node and you go out into |
s | the wild you need to be conscientious of |
s | what you're choosing to interact with |
s | and and take resources for because you |
s | have a limited space constraint to that |
s | degree and we think it's an interesting |
s | system that ties into as you guys will |
s | see later |
s | um uh the Caravans and crates system as |
s | well |
s | all right and do note that anything that |
s | we've talked about today we would love |
s | feedback on we will have a freehold |
s | updates live stream uh thread that will |
s | go up it might be up right now I don't |
s | know how quickly Wagner is working to |
s | push that up |
s | um but definitely go head on over to our |
s | forums give us feedback we'll be |
s | compiling that and sending it Yonder to |
s | our development team they've been loving |
s | all of the reports that we've been |
s | putting together and your guys's |
s | feedback has been super valuable it |
s | makes sure that we're you know on the |
s | right page as far as we move forward a |
s | lot of the things that you guys want are |
s | things we're already planning to do |
s | which is very exciting and it also kind |
s | of makes sure that we're |
s | making the right design choices and if |
s | you guys see any flaws or holes in those |
s | things we'd love to see uh what your |
s | thoughts are and especially as you get |
s | into Alpha 2 that's when you're going to |
s | get your hands on it and you're going to |
s | be able to provide like the juicy |
s | feedback but preliminary we would love |
s | to know what your guys's thoughts are |
s | with that we've got quite a bit of art |
s | updates to Showcase so we'll move on to |
s | that and then |
s | I know that folks are curious about some |
s | studio updates that have happened this |
s | month |
s | so |
s | we'll move on to Art you saw that we had |
s | some Cow Milking setup there that Steven |
s | was I couldn't find the Udders to start |
s | with and what he did eventually |
s | um and some sharing that we did with the |
s | wool and we've shown some of the other |
s | creatures in the past but we did have |
s | some chickens that were added and eggs |
s | and I'm sure you've seen some of our |
s | other we've got like a chicken Pig |
s | creature and some other creatures that |
s | may be coming in the world but we want |
s | to definitely have the the ranch and |
s | creatures you would expect in Game of |
s | course and then we'll have some more |
s | Varan specific ones coming out |
s | the next one the next creature we have |
s | is actually quite |
s | awesome it's the crab fresh cat crab |
s | fish which I love uh Danny did such a |
s | good job with this one |
s | yeah careful what you've what you go out |
s | there fishing for yeah |
s | you might catch one of these bad boys |
s | and then for those of you who got the |
s | falges stalker this is how that's coming |
s | along and we actually have a turntable |
s | for it and don't worry I'll be showing |
s | that costume in a moment here too |
s | um |
s | but it's looking sick looks great yeah I |
s | love it we will be making many variants |
s | of that I'm sure |
s | for creatures in the world you know I |
s | was they had um I can't remember the |
s | name of it is it is it Manticore or what |
s | what is I can't remember the name of the |
s | creature that's similar to this in uh |
s | DND but I was watching that d d movie |
s | and I I thought they did a great job |
s | with that movie and I think they had one |
s | of the uh similar to this in the uh |
s | little maze area yeah I actually like |
s | the d d movie as well yeah normally the |
s | D movies are cheesy but that one was |
s | really good yeah and then this is the |
s | Desolation Outlander armor that you just |
s | saw in that turntable looks |
s | badass ginsy did such a good job |
s | then we have the second sword |
s | and I believe we got a vek donning this |
s | for those of you who maybe haven't seen |
s | uh back in a bit |
s | they're pretty cool looking |
s | great and this one was done by Keith I |
s | think he's one of the |
s | longest running employees here at |
s | Intrepid right he was our first uh ever |
s | hired actually yeah |
s | Keith has made a lot of awesome stuff a |
s | lot of great stuff he's a phenomenal |
s | artist Great modeler Character artist |
s | and then we've got the sons of Fortune |
s | and a couple Soul Seeker variants |
s | and a couple of masks so the first one |
s | is the tormentors Visage oh I was |
s | wearing that but the white version |
s | I just didn't have the cloak on oh for |
s | the soul yeah for the salt Seeker yeah |
s | if you saw Steven's character in game |
s | yeah and then we've got the midnight |
s | mask I think this is still work in |
s | progress but you can see some of it and |
s | then |
s | the fun one |
s | drum roll oh yeah Steven can't hear the |
s | drum roll now he can oh drum roll |
s | we've got |
s | our new nickoon looks oh yeah so um You |
s | probably saw some of the faces that we |
s | had here |
s | um and then we have the bodies and then |
s | I also have some more shots for you guys |
s | to check out as well |
s | yep yep so you saw the concept art |
s | previously now these are the models |
s | um and of course you'll have some |
s | customization for yourself this is just |
s | like you know one that we've generated |
s | somebody said holy mother of forearms |
s | yeah he's beefy |
s | that was great |
s | very nice looks great |
s | and then we've got the female |
s | over to them and I do have a turntable |
s | for the female as well |
s | super cool love it |
s | yeah it looks so good love the body art |
s | the tattoos and stuff yeah |
s | and we will have like a whole tattoo |
s | system in game as well which is really |
s | exciting absolutely |
s | it's the turntable of the female |
s | yeah I love the Polynesian influences |
s | for this race I think they uh |
s | you know it's it's a it's an often |
s | underrepresented uh cultural influence |
s | in a lot of games and I I think that uh |
s | the nakuin |
s | um history and lore tie in nicely to |
s | kind of representing I think that uh |
s | that aspect in ashes yeah I feel like |
s | there's not always a lot of Islander or |
s | Asian specific uh Vibes so I'm usually |
s | misrepresented or underrepresented in |
s | those games sometimes there's not even |
s | female characters so yeah with that |
s | let's talk a little bit about Studio |
s | updates there's one big one that I know |
s | folks have been asking about and they're |
s | like is that person going to be on the |
s | stream no please I'm gonna let you know |
s | as someone who was on a live stream and |
s | did it ama my first week starting that's |
s | wild hey that you're a trooper are you a |
s | trooper I downloaded everything and |
s | every piece of information I possibly |
s | could yeah so Studio update uh some of |
s | you might have seen an announcement we |
s | have brought on uh an absolutely |
s | glorious individual by the name of Bill |
s | trost um funny enough bill was uh the |
s | first person I'd ever interviewed um |
s | John and I were interviewed for Intrepid |
s | Studios but he joins us as of two weeks |
s | ago he has a rich history and a very |
s | tremendous amount of experience having |
s | shipped multiple MMOs and he brings his |
s | wealth of knowledge to the team he's |
s | worked with many of our |
s | um uh many of the people in our studio |
s | over the course of his his long tenure |
s | as a game developer and he is currently |
s | in the process of catching up to speed |
s | as much as possible so it wasn't quite |
s | appropriate for us to invite him on this |
s | stream but I'm sure in a future stream |
s | you guys will have an opportunity uh to |
s | meet and listen to uh Bill and chat with |
s | him so very excited about that yeah and |
s | we've done a few of those where you get |
s | to meet and uh you know learn more about |
s | some of the developers but we usually |
s | like to tie that in with a system that |
s | they're working on or some kind of a |
s | Content piece otherwise uh we also get |
s | people who are mad because they're like |
s | show us game we don't want to hear about |
s | this person so it's finding a balance of |
s | like we are people but we also are |
s | trying to make a product for you and |
s | show progression in that and hopefully |
s | you've been seeing that as we move |
s | forward and next month's live stream is |
s | also going to be a very long one so |
s | prepare yourself for that |
s | goodness that you think this one was uh |
s | we'll go into our q a to wrap things up |
s | because we've been holding you all as |
s | long as we can so far but we do have a |
s | few more questions and some of them are |
s | um specifically Freehold related and |
s | others are not so we'll I will I will |
s | just I will I will just say that many |
s | people are asking for a leak I'm not |
s | going to get the leak but |
s | um |
s | I am just gonna say that next month and |
s | I'm pretty sure it's gonna be next month |
s | there's a slight possibility it might be |
s | about that but next month yeah the the |
s | hint will be |
s | send nodes |
s | Stephen what no no |
s | I know okay well |
s | I'm gonna link something from PI meaning |
s | uh someone might have said the wrong |
s | word at one point during the VIP |
s | is it was so funny we were all laughing |
s | so hard |
s | um anyways moving on we've got our |
s | questions here so these were pulled from |
s | the forums reminder that we do sometimes |
s | do these we might not do one for next |
s | month but we do have a couple q and A's |
s | slotted for Steven |
s | um outside uh we'll see how that goes |
s | but for this one this is from song Rune |
s | which that's such a beautiful name uh |
s | their question is about Freehold plot |
s | placement will it be possible to choose |
s | the direction your Freehold is facing |
s | and buildings are facing on your plot |
s | particularly when using Cosmetics from |
s | pre-order packs or will this already be |
s | determined by the plot you choose |
s | um the answer to those questions are yes |
s | yes and yes so you can uh manipulate the |
s | orientation of the Freehold plot you can |
s | manipulate the orientation of the |
s | particular buildings and items and items |
s | correct yep |
s | um and then heavy heavy degree of |
s | customization and by the way those |
s | systems are in place for the furniture |
s | placements and the props |
s | um it's just pending kind of UI |
s | treatments because right now it's all |
s | program art and you know for those of |
s | you who are unfamiliar with game |
s | development UI is and visual effects and |
s | uh audio are off exactly are often the |
s | most taxed teams because they tend to be |
s | at the end of each pipeline so praise |
s | them praise them and QA so all four of |
s | those teams are like please give us the |
s | thing as early as possible just to give |
s | context for why they're typically at the |
s | end of the pipeline the development for |
s | many systems and or content is because |
s | you want to have all the iteration done |
s | for a particular animation or a system |
s | or whatever before you get to the phase |
s | of the audio visual effects or the UI |
s | um and and then typically when those |
s | systems all get completed now it's all |
s | stacked up and ready to get worked on by |
s | those teams |
s | um so yeah yeah and then the next one is |
s | from zika the Phoenix and they want to |
s | know about mounts and freeholds will you |
s | be able to keep your mounts that you've |
s | unlocked on your freeholds plot to move |
s | freely about as they please like in a |
s | stable or in a little fenced area |
s | um there are a number of different types |
s | of ways that creatures can be acquired |
s | some of them in a mount format and can |
s | be utilized in animal husbandry slash |
s | livestock placements um on the Freehold |
s | but from a cosmetic perspective uh we |
s | don't quite have a system in place for |
s | that yet I'm not going to rule that out |
s | for the future of post-launch but right |
s | now it's delegated specifically to like |
s | hunting taming uh livestock and animal |
s | husbandry |
s | all right and then uh Tyrann thraxis |
s | wants to know about moving freeholds how |
s | many times a year do you suspect that |
s | moving that most players will be moving |
s | residents based on nodes being |
s | eliminated from sieges |
s | that's a good question and there are a |
s | lot of variables that influence that |
s | answer I'm not sure I can give an |
s | average |
s | um |
s | but what I would say is that depending |
s | on |
s | the political Dynamic of a server |
s | if a server tends to have more |
s | um |
s | more combat and or sieges against nodes |
s | that is going to increase the amount of |
s | uh opportunity for freeholds to be |
s | removed from the world |
s | and then replaced |
s | um I'm not sure I have an average what I |
s | will say is that it is very important to |
s | remember that ashes is not a PVP game |
s | and it is not a PVE game it is a pvx |
s | game and that has a very specific |
s | meaning it means that as these systems |
s | are developed as they are designed and |
s | they are integrated with each other they |
s | are done so from a competitive |
s | Viewpoint and how that system relates to |
s | both PVE and PVP freeholds are one of |
s | those systems very much so and it's |
s | because of the cyclical nature that |
s | we're attempting to achieve with the |
s | development of nodes and the destruction |
s | of nodes the world is a rapidly and |
s | dynamically changing Place really so |
s | it's it's intended to be something that |
s | is constantly recycling and is is |
s | leaking out different types of content |
s | and new content that revitalizes the |
s | player interest and and stimulates new |
s | points of conflict or cooperation right |
s | that is what the goal is I'm building |
s | the history of the game like for |
s | instance if you're part of the node that |
s | is the longest running node in the |
s | history of your server like that's epic |
s | that's a story to tell right and I think |
s | that hopefully you feel |
s | um |
s | you feel like you are part of it so much |
s | that you want to to fight for your your |
s | Freehold and fight for your citizenship |
s | and fight for your uh your area that |
s | you're in |
s | um for anyone who has played a like game |
s | that has persistency like that it is |
s | there's a little bit of you know ego |
s | that comes with some of that I feel like |
s | when it comes to servers and and |
s | notoriety |
s | um and of course somebody I think biggie |
s | said uh PPP now stands for player verse |
s | Pig no when you killed the mama pig and |
s | the babies in front of the pig you don't |
s | know that the piglet was related they |
s | could have been from different Pig |
s | families there was no other mama pigs |
s | there we don't know that for certain |
s | Dr Bucky we need an update no just |
s | kidding |
s | to know oh |
s | I was gonna say |
s | um I loved the emote that they did with |
s | the chicken dance oh my gosh it was so |
s | great I was laughing a hilarious story I |
s | was late for a meeting yesterday with uh |
s | with Bucky Corey and uh Mike and they |
s | took a video and they sent me a video on |
s | slack and they were doing and let me see |
s | can I can I send this to you and you can |
s | show it yeah you can |
s | I think I |
s | they told me that I could show it hold |
s | up let me see maybe they're going to |
s | regret that oh no I think they might |
s | hold on |
s | um okay here we go got it and let me |
s | they're probably trying to run to my |
s | office right now and stop me from doing |
s | it |
s | okay I just sent it to you in a the DM |
s | on slack okay and oh it's in like uh so |
s | this was at this was after we this is |
s | after we recorded they uh they were |
s | waiting for me to come to a meeting I |
s | had I had to run out and do I had to run |
s | out for an errand and I was late for my |
s | meeting like five minutes and so they |
s | sent me this okay hold on I'm gonna |
s | drag it onto here |
s | oh it's because why is it an mov |
s | I don't know I don't know how they took |
s | it |
s | you probably did it on a phone or or on |
s | their uh I think because it's mov I |
s | can't put it oh but I can do it a |
s | different way I can play it on a screen |
s | and screen capture yeah of course good |
s | call good call yeah yeah so give me a |
s | second to so the uh the idea is that uh |
s | you know a lot of these different emotes |
s | are part of you know the game that you |
s | can kind of express yourself in uh this |
s | one was a leftover for those of you who |
s | uh who were in apoc and and tested for |
s | uh for apoc you had this particular |
s | emote I have six monitors so I gotta I |
s | gotta find the right manner okay I'm |
s | gonna transition here you're gonna get a |
s | full screen of whatever this is |
s | there's there's Bucky Corey and Mike |
s | [Music] |
s | they were doing I know people are gonna |
s | zoom in on the the animations their |
s | animation references |
s | the mocap for the no I don't think those |
s | were vocab to animations but they're |
s | good we made the mocap suit on them next |
s | time |
s | foreign |
s | but in regards to the data about like |
s | sieges and nodes and things like that we |
s | will be capturing a lot of that stuff in |
s | the back end so we could do some really |
s | cool like server statistic data |
s | um and I know from the marketing |
s | perspective I would love to do like |
s | um absolutely lots of Graphics like that |
s | with with details and stuff for you guys |
s | to to look at on the website when it |
s | comes to server |
s | um details as well the next question |
s | here is from zayer maintaining a |
s | freehold is there going to be an upkeep |
s | to freeholds and nodes that if not |
s | provided will degrade the Freehold such |
s | as materials required to keep things |
s | running |
s | um well as we spoke a little bit about |
s | uh through the artisanship and |
s | processing uh mechanics fuel is a |
s | necessary component of the |
s | actions that you can take with |
s | processing stations however if we're |
s | talking about like material |
s | excuse me if we're talking about |
s | material maintenance necessary for the |
s | actual uh Freehold itself uh no there is |
s | however a tax system which requires tax |
s | uh taxes to be paid on the property that |
s | you own and that tax system is |
s | um |
s | is informed by the number of permits |
s | from the types of buildings and upgrades |
s | that you have on the Freehold as well |
s | including potentially the business so |
s | those tax certifications are kind of |
s | what's necessary to maintain or upkeep |
s | the note |
s | okay and but in regards to like crops |
s | and creatures well they have to have |
s | some upkeep to keep those things alive |
s | and yeah that's that's the livestock and |
s | the crop rotations have a process |
s | oriented uh um uh uh approach which |
s | means that it includes things like |
s | watering and fertilizing and feeding and |
s | um uh you know raising those that's kind |
s | of the process by which you get these |
s | things to the mature State the other |
s | thing is that like different types of |
s | assets on the on the farming side or on |
s | the livestock side they have different |
s | types of interaction so right now you're |
s | just kind of seeing one interaction the |
s | system hasn't been fully implemented yet |
s | uh but you know certain types of |
s | creatures can be either butchered or |
s | they can be harvested for their wool uh |
s | or their milk and then they can be you |
s | know plants can be like uprooted they |
s | can be fruited they can be |
s | harvested there's different types of |
s | interacts that are available based on |
s | the type of asset from the farming |
s | perspective |
s | people are already zooming in on the |
s | whiteboard in the background oh no oh is |
s | there stuff on there I don't know but |
s | it's funny |
s | um next up we've got strange Abe who |
s | wants to know about super fast Freehold |
s | Gathering will there be quicker gather |
s | function in your Freehold than the one |
s | that was seen because right now you're |
s | like Gathering one at a time on the |
s | crabs uh well yes there'll be different |
s | types of tools and or Machinery that can |
s | be used to like plant multiple seed |
s | types within a particular infrastructure |
s | that gives you bundles and or many |
s | different harvestings that's part of |
s | progression so as you get more Adept at |
s | farming you have the ability to kind of |
s | mass produce and the same is true when |
s | you talk about quality quantity speed of |
s | processing across many of the different |
s | processing professions |
s | all right and then we've got Team |
s | America wanting to know about Guild Hall |
s | crafting and I did see a bunch of |
s | questions about Guild halls in the chat |
s | too but this was about freeholds not |
s | Guild Halls |
s | um will Guild Halls be able to build a |
s | high-end crafting stations or other |
s | otherwise different mechanics from |
s | freeholds |
s | um generally |
s | um |
s | let me pause on the Guild Hall |
s | discussion because there's still some |
s | active iteration being done on the |
s | designs for that based on what we've |
s | previously had so that'll be something |
s | that we'll update in the future on Guild |
s | Halls Google makes sense I mean we could |
s | probably do a whole thing just on Guild |
s | Halls that's why I didn't I saw a lot of |
s | questions about them in there I was like |
s | that's a whole other thing homies |
s | yeah jalon wants to know about Freehold |
s | PVP are you safe while on your Freehold |
s | or do you have to be in a building to |
s | have safety from other players |
s | currently the only safe space for the |
s | Freehold is the home so if you are |
s | within the home footprint you cannot be |
s | harmed via damage by other players |
s | do you have to like lock your doors and |
s | windows like some other games |
s | just on the footprint of the home all |
s | right |
s | on the footprint of the home what |
s | prevents players from pvping you is it |
s | just like a Zone type of thing where |
s | it's a hard lock when the system when |
s | the ability checks a valid Target the |
s | return is no |
s | okay just wanted to clarify |
s | further |
s | and paragraph granium or grinham wants |
s | to know about Freehold durability |
s | durability could you give us an idea of |
s | how durable a freehold is in case your |
s | your node is successfully staged like |
s | how does that you know how long do I |
s | have to basically go clean up my stuff |
s | yeah that's you know that's a it's a |
s | balanced question and it's something |
s | that's going to be a part of when we |
s | test that functionality you know where |
s | does Landing Right Live |
s | um and you know my expectation is that |
s | given the scope of time that's available |
s | for the Freehold to be destroyed |
s | potentially after a node Siege we want |
s | to cater that balance uh towards that |
s | period of time essentially and knowing |
s | that that's a few hours uh potentially |
s | um you want it obviously to Scale based |
s | on the number of participants and or |
s | attackers you might have but creating |
s | kind of a um a mini encounter slash |
s | experience there so I don't have a |
s | direct answer to you it's going to live |
s | within the time frame |
s | um uh of that period of time that the |
s | Freehold can be destructed |
s | awesome and these last two questions |
s | that were pulled from our Forum folks |
s | are not necessarily Freehold specific so |
s | you can it's all freeholds |
s | uh smucky wants to know about monster |
s | coins and World bosses will World bosses |
s | like the like tumak uh take part in the |
s | NPC sieges on nodes and will players be |
s | able to use a monster coin to play as |
s | one of those World bosses in an event |
s | that is the intent is that we will have |
s | varying quality of monster coins |
s | available |
s | creatures like tumak May participate in |
s | certain atrophy events or |
s | other types of events and if you have |
s | the very rare and legendary type of |
s | monster coin that's available to be used |
s | on a creature type like tumak |
s | then yes you could inhabit him that's |
s | the intent of the system |
s | um I love the idea that tumak like lives |
s | on this node area with you and is like |
s | protecting the roaming area around and |
s | then like you're starting to get Siege |
s | and he's like all right |
s | I'll I'll come help you like some |
s | diplomacy happens and he gets on board |
s | and someone gets to play him like that's |
s | cool I don't know I like that right |
s | right now I will say that um the monster |
s | coin system is used exclusively for |
s | assaulting nodes not for defending them |
s | but oh okay uh they took over your area |
s | little does he know we're gonna do that |
s | to it too but don't tell him that he's |
s | done |
s | low end it's fine uh no I'm just kidding |
s | uh jibs IRL wants to know about audio |
s | design from an audio creation standpoint |
s | how do you plan to make audio and Ashes |
s | of creation an immersive experience and |
s | I do want to mention that if you haven't |
s | watched our |
s | 2022 recap you should definitely go do |
s | that because Kat talked she didn't |
s | really want to be on the stream but she |
s | was wonderful and she did have like a |
s | lot of great things to say about the |
s | audio in ashes of recreation and her |
s | thoughts on it but yeah pass that to you |
s | Stephen for sure I mean audio is as |
s | important as visuals |
s | um and sometimes in certain cases more |
s | um for me specifically when you talk |
s | about the audio design of like creatures |
s | and you know the different types of kind |
s | of tactile responses you want to hear |
s | out of Mining and resource Gathering and |
s | artisanship I mean it permeates every |
s | layer of the game right so we have a |
s | phenomenal audio team here |
s | um uh that's comprised of both on the |
s | engineering side on the audio design |
s | side and cat is a phenomenal leader |
s | um she is very dedicated to kind of the |
s | audio Fidelity that we want to achieve |
s | with ashes I think you guys can see that |
s | in the demonstrations and the kind of |
s | previews that we provide of the game |
s | um you know that when we're talking |
s | about the the bar that we're setting in |
s | that quality it is it is on par with |
s | what you would expect from other AAA |
s | type games |
s | um you know our perspective is that we |
s | want to you know create an environment |
s | that's going to |
s | illicit emotion from the player when |
s | they hear these types of sound effects |
s | or when they hear these types of |
s | ambiances or soundtracks and music that |
s | it's accompanied and we want it to be |
s | defining either to the area to the |
s | encounter to the dungeon you know |
s | something that when you hear it you |
s | remember oh that's that place you know |
s | that this brings back the memories right |
s | um and so you know having having a team |
s | that's capable and dedicated and |
s | creating an experience for themselves |
s | you know as a player as well I mean that |
s | even goes down to Brand like one of the |
s | things when we first started was making |
s | that iconic like Screech sound when you |
s | hear the uh the Phoenix come onto screen |
s | and you know some people are like well |
s | why are being so picky why do you want |
s | that sound to be everything I was like |
s | because it's like the that sound you get |
s | when you're like you know what it is |
s | right away I think that to me that's so |
s | important for not only you know the |
s | immersion of in-game but in other |
s | external places as well for people to |
s | know your brand and see that it's iconic |
s | um and Stephen you made it |
s | all the questions all of the things I |
s | said at the start I think this would |
s | have taken about one and a half to two |
s | hours and I think we're just gonna be |
s | under two hours |
s | I think the next one's gonna be a long |
s | one too but um we hope that you have all |
s | enjoyed this Stephen do you have any |
s | final things that you want to mention |
s | before no I've seen quickly reminders |
s | absolutely I just want to say you know |
s | thank you guys for being great Sports |
s | and and dedicated supporters for the |
s | project |
s | um you know I know that development and |
s | the journey of development is not a |
s | journey for everyone and it means very |
s | much to us that we have this Rapport |
s | established with our core audience our |
s | our our our golden players |
s | um to kind of provide us with the |
s | navigational feedback and direction that |
s | we're taking on the game side and making |
s | sure that that's validated by what our |
s | core audience wants and believes in |
s | right I mean that is the best type of of |
s | relationship that that any developer can |
s | have With Their audience and we are very |
s | privileged and honored to have that |
s | relationship with you guys and we |
s | appreciate it |
s | um we hope you like what you're seeing |
s | and your guys are excited for playing |
s | the game because we're here every day |
s | hard at work trying to make this dream a |
s | reality everyone's kicking butt |
s | um and having fun while we're doing it |
s | because you know Gamers |
s | um but if you do have thoughts and |
s | feedback for us head on over to our |
s | forums |
s | forums.ashesofcreation.com we have some |
s | threads that are already pre-made but |
s | you can also create your own we'll be |
s | creating some feedback reports for our |
s | developers so please please share that |
s | information with us also don't forget |
s | that Stephen will be joining the Ashen |
s | Forge for their 100th episode over on |
s | twitch.tv theoryforge on July 9th so |
s | please tune into that it should be a |
s | really good time Stephen always answers |
s | sometimes leaks something so we'll see |
s | what comes with that |
s | we also have our monthly cosmetic swap |
s | over that's happening for songs of the |
s | sea on July 12th if you're interested in |
s | that and we don't have all the |
s | information on the swap over Stephen was |
s | giving you all a very big heads up that |
s | cosmetic packs and stuff are going to be |
s | changing in the future from pre-order |
s | packs so just keep that in mind we will |
s | have more information as uh we get |
s | closer to that but still we'll give you |
s | enough time to and warning in advance so |
s | don't worry too much about that and of |
s | course thank you very much to all of you |
s | for sticking with us for two hours and |
s | for following our journey we hope that |
s | you enjoy it is you know making games is |
s | not easy as people think it is |
s | um and we also want folks to we want to |
s | say thank you to Dr Bucky uh Mike Corey |
s | and of course Steven for presenting some |
s | really great information on freeholds |

s | will have the video up on YouTube |

🏡 We just dropped a bunch of Freehold knowledge!
❓ What info were you most excited to learn about?
External link →What are the odds we season alpha 2 by the end of this year?
Also next thing i hope we see is this node system, i wanna see how we're gonna play the game. Like i understand we may not see a loop but i want to see how this quest system works with the nodes.
We haven't shared any specific Alpha Two testing dates yet. Stay tuned for more information on that!
We're planning to have more Node information to share soon during a future Development Update livestream. We try to do these streams on the last Friday of every month, although sometimes due to our schedules we move them.
