Posts require review?

Are we no longer able to edit our posts? I tend to make minor corrections for several minutes afterward, but today I found my post just gone. After retyping the whole thing (poorly), and making another edit (a few words for clarity), I got a message about my post needing approval. I'd appreciate if the first of those posts could get approved (and perhaps the second, lower quality duplicate deleted), but also a clarification of the rules or policy that triggered the removal for review.
