Idk, I think the pistol-carbine for Recon has made PTFO reconning way better. (Although it sure would be nice if they could fix specializations)

Also, the m28 rifle for the medic enables a completely new playstyle for that class

I’m a pretty lousy Recon (haven’t got that sort of muscle memory or play style) so I’ve got a lot of appreciation for the Carbines.

Big fan otherwise of the Trombonjovi from last Chapter on Medic. Suits my Medic style from BF1.

u/PartWelsh and u/Braddock512 you guys dont deserve any of the hate you guys have been getting. Its clear that both of you are very passionate about this game but are getting the stiff end of the stick by being the official Voices of Dice. Just know that some of us in this community know that you are doing your best and are extremely limited on what you can reveal to us. Some people forget that you guys interacting with the subreddit is of your choosing and not a necessity. We are very passionate about this game and we look forward to what comes next.

Kind of you to say. Doesn’t mean that we don’t want to help work with you all to see the Train put back on the track. I’ve recently been exposed by Jack and Westie as someone who spends a lot of time playing the game, so all of us at studio share the frustration. We only want to be having fun playing the game and we know just how much fun everyone was having when we released Mercury so we want to, and can get back on track.

I’ll hopefully have news about a second swing at the Hotfix tomorrow, and we aren’t that far away from the next main patch. Both me and Jeff will stay accessible for as long as we are welcome here and we are grateful for the mods here and their continued invitation for us to play a role in the community they’ve built here.

Sincerely - kind of you to take the time out of your day to type that. It’s appreciated by us all on the team.

Tbh, it's not a good situation to be at atm. Will get better tho.. and hope.

I think folks are perhaps attributing a lot more here to body language than needs be. This was recorded just before 4.0 dropped (hence the slightly incorrect suggestion that the Karabin was the first gun released this chapter) so there’s nothing to read from the current issues faced in Battlefield.

Neither me or Adriaan are otherwise media trained people designed to be jumping up and down with hype like Game Show hosts, so all that you’re really seeing there is us just being super natural!

Doesn’t mean that either one of us are satisfied with the state of the game today, I just think you’re maybe reading a bit more into the expressiveness or two European dudes sitting on chairs that are way too comfortable to be bouncing up and down on.

Adriaan is an intensely passionate dude about this stuff and he’s worth chatting too on Twitter if you’re a fan of historical guns. Him and the team have some crazy attention to detail to guns.

I mean, official confirmation would be appreciated, since there are some empty weeks in which (i hope) there will be more weapons

We have a pretty hard and fast rule about commenting on leaks and speculation. Nothing here I can help with (just didn't want you to think I was ducking the question)

Surely you're not though

Typo on my part - probably a borderline double negative. Tidied that up! Thanks for the spot.

Is the Tromboncino ahahahah, i hope that we can get more carbines like the Jungle Carbine, the G33/40, the Mosin-Nagant M44, the Berthier Carbine and the Arisaka Type 99 Carbine

Trombonjovi is my compromise around the studio - folks were getting way too confused with me calling it the Jon Bon Jovi.

This isn't an accusation but do you guys see while playing why the community isn't happy with what we have right now? Are you guys happy with the Operations and the overall scale of the game? I think it's incredibly lacking but I'd like to hear what you think about it? Because I feel like the entire stuff that is missing from the game is a lot of immersion and context and it always feels like it's the elephant in the room nobody at DICE likes to talk about...

I respect entirely everyones individual take on the game. Everyones free to feel as they do and free to express that.

My personal take is exactly that, personal. I'm happy to volunteer it here in the interest of having a conversation but I'll volunteer that when I do, it's generally met with negativity and folks too easily focus on my job title when I'm speaking in this regard vs. me as the individual.

I personally have a grand time playing the game, and I rarely reject an offer when I'm home at night to hop on and play with folks. I'd be a lot happier if everyone was getting a consistent level of performance with the game but in respect to the sense of scale, I have no complaints. It's as Battlefield as every other Battlefield I've played (and I've been going since Desert Combat).

Immersion isn't a priority for me when playing a game (hating to repeat myself - my personal view - it's not to take anything away from folks who do find it important), and neither is context. If I want context around something from our History, I generally don't seek it in Video Games. History is often a miserable (but fascinating) pursuit for me, and whilst I'm happy to pour through hours of documentaries on Netflix, pick up a book on my Kindle or rabbit hole on Wikipedia, it's very rare of me to seek an interactive form of that. I prioritise what's fun, and satisfying and I personally don't have any reservations on that side.

I'm in agreement with you on the Operations front. It was my number one mode played in BF1. Not for the History/Context side, but just the 'We push, they push' feeling to it. I know that the teams keen to see about recapturing some of that but there's nothing we're ready to share until we get much further down the road with it.

Putting my work hat back on - priority for us is to make a fun Video Game. That's the number 1 question we ask in all our design decisions 'Is it fun', that's our core value at DICE (https://twitter.com/ogabrielson/status/1000042210690240512)

I'm happy to hear that. It seemed a bit as if the dev team didn't consider it to be a priority so I'm happy there is in fact incentive to improve it. Thanks for the response!

Cannot begin to tell you how much time I spent on Devils Anvil. Attack or Defend, I bloody loved how intense Verdun Heights could get. I felt that it was super well suited that mode vs. on Conquest.

Why not just revert the game to the previous patch? I’m not a programmer, but with the current state of the game that seems to make more sense.

As best as I understand it, it would 100% break any progression or ability to earn CC. So if we were to entertain that, we'd basically be putting the entire game on pause. There'd be no Tides of War, no unlocks, nothing.

Cheers - we were doing 20 minute+ videos before this and there were fans of that format too, but what we were seeing was that ultimately no one was watching them. We've tried something different with this run of 'Dev Talks' and we'll either do more in this format or have another think about how else we can do it.

What's everyone's take on livestreams?

https://twitter.com/PartWelsh/status/1148677729065283585

The S2-200 will be available on Thursday, and going forward, there will be a 1 week gap between the Weapon being earnable via Tides of War, and then purchasable with Company Coin. We'll be a lot more consistent with that going forward and we'll continue to adopt that approach.

Dear u/braddock512 and u/partwelsh... I echo the message of “not shooting the messenger” and I appreciate your recent empathy! Please share your thoughts on my comment below when/if you can.

Not sure if I speak for everyone but outside of the hotfix for xbox users (so they can at least play). I would be willing to put up with invisible soldiers for another month for ample QA time.... I would much rather have the next patch kick some serious bug ass than have to listen to another video hearing about the next patch breaking more than it fixed.... if you’re allowed to shed some light how a common/major bug like soldiers not rendering made it past the last QA testing it would be helpful. To be frank I can’t wrap my head around it not happening at all during QA when it literally happens every game every time.... makes me believe the patching process either has too little QA, or someone is pushing out unreasonable deadlines

We have made some great progress in resolving the invisible soldier issue.

They’re still working on the issues with Al-Sundan.

I hope so. I’m tired of getting stuck in the window and having to crouch to get out, while getting shot at. Lmao
