We’re aware of current intermittent connectivity issues where some players are being met with an “Authentication Failed” error message.
Our team is monitoring the situation and looking into the cause for these errors.

We don’t have an ETA yet.
We’re currently investigating one of the possible causes for this problem. Doesn’t seem to be tied to player capacity but to one of the services used for handshaking bouncing back connection requests past a very unusual threshold.

The current workaround seems to be basically keep trying connecting. It will eventually allow a connection. It’s not ideal and it may add to the threshold problem, but it’s something.

Another quick update:

We’ve most likely identified the cause of the issue. Playfab has been experiencing issues for the past few hours which align with the times we’ve seen this error pop up on Exiles. Their last status report is from 5 minutes ago where they have identified the issue and are working on implementing a fix.

Hey all, quick update:

The incident on Playfab’s side was resolved 6 hours ago. Our team has been investigating the errors on our end during the night and pinpointing other modules that may have been affected by the outage and causing timeout errors.

Just to confirm, are most of you still experiencing this issue playing on the Steam version?

That seems to confirm what we’re seeing on our end.

The other platforms have been showing normal population numbers for the last few hours but on Steam there’s still a dip. From our testing these are also the only servers that show errors on the logs that can be traced to these problems, while the rest of platforms don’t.

Thank you for the confirmation and patience. We’re continuing the investigation and will update this thread once there’s any new development.

Edit: It seems PC Gamepass versions of the game do also show this error. If there’s anyone on this version, could you confirm if these errors show up on your end as well?

We’re still looking into what caused this issue but in the meantime, can you try to login into your preferred server and see if you are able to get in?

As mentioned previously, we’re still looking into what caused this issue.
Our wonderful program engineers managed to do some magic in the backend (I’m not good with technical stuff :bowing_woman:) so if you can, please try to login into your preferred server and see if you are able to get in with no issues.
