Greetings Exiles,

We’d like to update you on the mod caching feature.
This feature was introduced in 3.0.5 to assist modders in patching their mods.

However, some issues followed:

  • An issue with the mod mismatch window was made worse with mod caching, preventing players from logging into servers.
  • While there was an opt-out option for clients, there was none for servers that are actually more bound on disk space than we anticipated

We do have a fix for the first issue which will be implemented in a future patch.
However, the available disk space on some server providers might not be enough to support the feature.

For that reason, we are disabling it today and have no plans to enable it for the time being.

Please note that even after disabling it, the cache folder won’t be deleted automatically. You can find the folder at:
\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\ModsCached

Additionally, a restart of the client and/or server twice will ensure the update applies.

We apologize for the inconvenience and confusion caused and thank you for your understanding

Greetings Exiles,

We heard the suggested workaround might not be working for everyone, so we would like to share additional steps that might better assist you:

  1. Delete .pak files from the Conansandbox > Saved > ModsCached > Workshop Folder
  2. Unsubscribe to all mods
  3. Resubscribe to the mods
  4. Verify the integrity of game files
  5. Restart Steam
  6. Launch the game. The process will take a while, but it should load.

We would like to thank @Vathelos for sharing these with the community! We appreciate your assistance in this matter Exile!

Also, thank you all for your patience and feedback. Our team is following your comments and we will continue to work towards a better service.
