Greetings, dear Exiles!
We hope everyone’s been enjoying the recent update and that the Wine Cellar dungeon is proving to be the challenge you hoped it would be. Now, we have a new challenge for you: It’s competition time! We’re putting your skills and your creativity to the test in an emote contest!
Have you always wanted to make a direct impact on Conan Exiles? Here is your chance to be immortalized and become a part of the game. Since the Debaucheries of Derketo Pack is all about roleplaying and expressing yourself we want you to express yourself and let your creativity run wild!
It’s time for an emote contest!
The objective is simple: create and perform an original emote that you feel should be in Conan Exiles. The emote can be whatever you want, from a great warcry to a simple social interaction like a wave. Get as creative as you can! Think of any kind of movement or emotive action you would like to see in the game and show us your moves!
Once you’ve decided on what you want to perform, film it with your phone, webcam, or any other camera you have lying around. We can’t turn your entry into an in-game emote unless we know what it looks like, after all. Make sure the video is well lit, so we can see what’s happening, and try to record it against a neutral background or wall.
Upload the footage to Google Drive, Dropbox, or any other cloud-based storage service you prefer and send a download link to [email protected]. You can also upload the clip to YouTube and send us a link to the video.
Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity and “Conan-icity”, or how well it fits the Conan universe.
Categories:
We’re splitting the contest into three categories. You can enter videos into as many categories as you like, but you can only have one entry per category:
- War Cries – Any sort of war cry or shout meant to inspire your brothers in arms and strike fear into the hearts of your enemies
- Dances – Show us your moves (Original/public domain dances, so no Milly Rock or Carlton dances. If you’re feeling fancy, you can add music to your clip so we can get a sense of the rhythm)
- Social emotes – Everything from social interactions and day to day actions, from greeting a friend to juggling knives
Some Extra Clarity:
- Make sure we can see your entire body in the video clip and that your movements can easily be interpreted by an animator
- We don’t support emotes that require interacting with things that exist in the world (like opening a door, sitting in and picking up a chair, hugging another player, etc), so emotes that require this cannot be entered in the contest
- We will not use your likeness in the game, just your movements
All video clips must be submitted by October 15th, 11.59pm CEST / 5.59pm EDT / 2.59pm PDT. We will not accept any entries after this date. The winners will be announced on stream on October 24th.
The chosen winner in each category will have their emote animated and implemented into the game. They will also receive a Year 2 Season Pass (value: $30 USD)
- Film yourself performing a specific movement or dance that you feel should be in Conan Exiles
- Upload your clip to a sharing platform of your choice and email us a download or video link
- Entries must be emailed to “[email protected]”. Entries not submitted via this email address before the deadline will not be counted
- To make sure your email is for the contest, please make sure this is your subject line: Conan Exiles Emote Contest
- In the body of your email, please specify which category your emote falls under
- Only one entry per category, but you can enter all categories if you have three individual emotes
- Keep it SFW (Safe For Work)! If you wouldn’t show the video to your mother, it doesn’t belong here.
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
- By submitting your contest entry you are certifying that the video is your creation and that you have all necessary legal permissions to submit the entry and that you are of legal age to consent to these rules or have obtained parental permission.
- All judging will be done by Funcom staff and decisions of judges are final and at their sole discretion.
- The list of winners will be posted (on the Conan Exiles forums) within 20 days of contest closing.
- Contest sponsor is Funcom Oslo AS.
- Odds of winning dependent on number of entries.
