Your Windows is a little behind, is there perhaps a major update downloading? I've seen that cause symptoms like this.

KLMzer said: I get less lags at ingame speed 5, but more when I decrease it and worse of all is when the game is paused.
That is basically the opposite of the normal symptoms of poor performance ... hard to see what could cause that, to be honest.

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

If still no good, please send in new copies of all those text files in your OP, thanks.

I see some mods mentioned in there, you are testing this with no mods at all enabled, is that right?

Please disconnect that Xbox controller before you start this game.

Set the framerate cap in the game to 60.

And there's a slightly newer nVidia driver just out, may as well try that too.

Good luck!

The symptoms are still the same? Not too bad at speed 5, worse at lower speeds? I really find it hard to think what could possibly cause that.

The previous game CK2 is now free to play on Steam, does it have the same problem?

I see, so it's the machine or something in Windows, rather than just this game.

If GeForce Experience is running, unload that and see if you get the same problem.

If that doesn't change things, in the nVidia control panel, Manage 3D settings, force ck3.exe to use the "integrated Intel video" option as a test. That will be generally slower than the nVidia card or course, but do you still get that behaviour where lower speeds get more lag?

I have also seen this happen when massive Windows updates are downloading in the background, is that a possibility?
