[2020] Massive performance issues with the new patch (CK3)

I switched back over to the previous patch and loaded the game up; absolutely no issues. The game runs perfectly like before. Repatch back to 1.1.1; welcome back to lag town.

It is rather frustrating, as I have had zero issues with the game until this patch has dropped.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox/CK3/logs/ folder, attach system.log , error.log  

Try updating that AMD driver to the May 2020 one:

I don't see anything else in there of concern unfortunately.

Does disabling autosaves change anything?  

Another person which this problem here found a clean reinstall fixed it for them, so please try that too:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "uninstall" in Steam-CK3
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/CK3 AND Documents/Paradox/CK3 folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add CK3.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam CK3 or Documents CK3 locations, before installing again.

This thread is about performance issues, but if I read you correctly you have a completely different problem, the game crashing? Is that right?

If so can I ask you to start your own thread, with full problem and system details? Thanks!

Did you try the clean reinstall I described? As mentioned above that did help one user for sure.

Mac performance will be worse than Windows but sounds like yours is something more than that. And the sound issue is not one other Mac users have reported ....

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

Your C: drive is a little low on free space - probably not related to this issue unless Windows is running out of swap space. Can you free up another say 10gb on that?

And what kind of fps are you getting in the game?
