[2021] Constant Crashing and Launcher Won't Start (Fedora 34 Linux)

So two separate problems, the launcher and the game, ISTM.


The black launcher screen in Stellaris could be this issue:

My launcher just updated, and the launcher interface appears completely black. It is still functional, but you just can't see everything. You can launch the game, close the launcher etc. just fine if you know where the buttons are. But it is... forum.paradoxplaza.com
If not though, The launcher logs are here:

• $XDG_DATA_HOME/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/logs/ (if $XDG_DATA_HOME is set)
• ~/.local/share/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/logs/ (if $XDG_DATA_HOME is not set)

For the game I see no real problems in those logs above, except maybe in the sound area - do you get any sound in the game? Are you on alsa or pulseaudio?

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

I have not seen this before but the launcher appears to install itself okay anyway.

The bootstrapper runs okay but does not even attempt to update the launcher from 2021.4.1 , no idea why. Was there no cpatch.log?


Your nVidia driver says it is 465.31 yet the latest I can find is 460.84 , from only 2 weeks sgo:
NVIDIA DRIVERS Linux x64 (AMD64/EM64T) Display Driver Are youu running some beta version of it or something?
