While DRG is listed as playable, but not verified, on the Steam Deck I gave it a whirl last night. The only warning was about some text too small to read, but since I ignore anything management tells me anyway I wasn't worried. I installed DRG, fired up the game, and was dumped into the greenbeard training mission. When I exited, this sync'd to Steam Cloud, which then also turned me into a greenbeard on my PC. I wasn't too worried as I've got full system backups every hour, but there's also a built-in mechanism to prevent this from being an issue. The game creates backup save files on its own. Now this is obviously a sample set of one as I haven't seen any other complaints about this (the extent of my research was searching "Steam Deck" in this subreddit) and maybe it's not common. Perhaps I launched the game before Steam Cloud had a chance to sync and bring down my initial save to the Deck?

If you find yourself in this predicament, the fix is fairly simple, navigate to the equivalent folder on your PC:

%programfiles(x86)%\Steam\steamapps\common\Deep Rock Galactic\FSD\Saved\SaveGames

Find the file that's named $steam-id_Player.sav and copy it to a safe place, find the most recent one that is $steam-id_Backup_# and make a copy of it, renaming that copy to the name of the first file. Launch the game on PC, make sure all is well, and exit. Then, on the Deck, browse to the game and make sure you see Steam Cloud resync and download the file. Everything went well for me after that. While the game creates backup saves on its own, I'd recommend taking your own backup of that folder before launching on the Deck just in case.

Hope this helps someone! R&S!

Just a note, I find that Steam can have trouble syncing regularly between two different installations. It's great for backups with wipes or a new machine, but switching between computers gives me issues on most games.
