As a disclaimer, there's another topic about this issue, but it's two days old now and it didn't seem to get any attention. I'm honestly not sure how active the devs are here, but I don't know how else to contact them.

I downloaded the game on Tuesday and absolutely love it, but my system has fully shut down without any sort of warning three separate times now: twice during a solo mission, and once on the 'mission failure' screen after a co-op mission with three other people. The last time it happened, I had to leave my PS5's power cable unplugged for nearly ten minutes before it would come back on after plugging it back in.

At first I thought about overheating, but I keep my system thoroughly clean, and the PS5 will give a warning about overheating before it shuts down. In this instance, there's zero warning of any kind, I'm just playing like normal and all of a sudden, the system shuts right off. I also tried moving the game from my additional M.2 SSD over to system storage after the first two shutdowns, but that obviously didn't help.

In the older topic I mentioned at the beginning of this post, there were four or five of us in total that were experiencing this issue, so I think it would be a bit coincidental if all five of us had faulty PS5s. Especially considering that I've never had a problem with any other game, and my system has never just randomly shut off before. I even tested a few other games for a couple hours after the first two shutdowns and had no problems, but within an hour of going back to DRG, the third shutdown happened.

I'm really not sure what to do, and it's incredibly frustrating, as I want to join in with everyone else that's having fun. But I'm honestly afraid that my system might brick after a few more shutdowns.

If I could get some help from the devs, or if someone could enlighten me with the best possible way to get in contact with them, I'd greatly appreciate it!

EDIT: Found another person on the PSNProfiles forums that seems to be describing the exact same issue. Including the older topic on this subreddit, that makes six of us now.

I’ve passed it on. It’s weird, because in the mass of new players, this seems extremely rare, which makes me think it’s possibly a hardware issue. This is just my theory, but Deep Rock is more CPU/memory heavy than GPU heavy, which tends to stress games in new ways, which could be why people affected won’t experience it in other games.

same. i thought it was only fortnite until i started playing deep rock for the first time. it’s now just these two games that cause a shutdown, i think it might be a software issue

That's interesting as both are Unreal Engine games.

Sorry to bother you again, but I'm just wondering if the dev team has found anything in regards to these shutdowns, or has managed to replicate the issue? Another four or five people have responded to this post complaining about shutdowns, and someone else made another topic about it. That makes around twelve or thirteen of us in total, and there may be more that just haven't posted in this subreddit.

I understand that there's not much that can be done if you guys are unable to replicate the problem, but I figured it didn't hurt to ask. I absolutely love the game when it works, and I really want to keep playing without having to worry about my system shutting down or eventually bricking.

Sorry about the delay in reply - a lot of stuff is going on with the launch and COVID rampaging.
The issue is on our list, but currently the connection issues take precedence as the crash issue seems extremely rare (just to add perspective; the userbase on PlayStation is absolutely massive currently, and we're not seeing a lot of critical crashes considering the amount of users playing).
Some other users seem to be having same issues with Fortnite, and since they are both Unreal Engine games that might give a clue to what it is. Can't promise anything though, but I am passing it on to QA.
