I'll just jump in here and comment on this.
Sure, from the outside it looks simple, but be aware that a lot more stuff happens behind the scenes than you might realize.
While I do not know all the details, and the details I know I can't really talk about, consider that DRG launched into PlayStation Plus at the end of the PS4 lifecycle and at the beginning of the PS5 lifecycle. It takes a lot of time to set up a PlayStation Plus deal, as it has to carry a lot of value for both us and PlayStation. I can't really see a scenario where PlayStation Plus would have happened without a PS5 version, all things considered. We didn't really "take the time" to do it, it was the only thing that made sense in that context.
As we are a small team, we also have to prioritize what we do, so our platform team has been 100% focused on that. We've hired more people to work on it, and we've also increased our QA by a lot since I started at GSG 4 years ago. The QA part is important because every new platform version of DRG we have to keep alive requires a lot of work to test and fix.
So, with that in mind, we couldn't have worked on both at the same time + worked on new content + planned out future content AND the future for GSG. BUT, not that the PlayStation version is live, it also makes sense to upgrade the Xbox version to a similar standard, so we are.
In a way, the PS5 version and its features have helped a lot in making the Series X version happen, since it's demonstrated what's possible and helped put focus on the want too.
TL;DR the Series S/X optimized version is coming, and I'm told it's going to be soon. Our press release said "very soon", but I think that windows is dependent on how many issues Season 2 has brought with it, but stay tuned.
