Happy Community Focus Day, Guardians! We hope you are worm-deep in your adventures in The Witch Queen and we are loving the screenshots and feedback on socials! Today we are back with a new Community Focus (just wait until you see what Dan did this month) that we are so stoked to share with you. So, let’s get to it, ya?
Welcome EpicDan22! Let’s start off with who you are, where you are from, and what got you into gaming and content creation?

EpicDan22: Hello Guardians! My name is Daniel, but most people just call me Dan. I first off want to thank you for this opportunity.  I am a Twitch Partner born and raised in Alabama and originally got into gaming playing games like Super Mario Bros. on NES with my father. Since then, I've grown up with games my entire life, connecting with series like Pokémon (Gold is still my favorite one) and Jet Set Radio Future, to games like Mass Effect and Halo who have all helped shaped the gamer I am today. Content creation is nothing without community. Building a community where people like myself can feel welcome and included was important to me. I could not find anywhere that fit me just right, so I went out and created my own.
That is so heartwarming! Reminds me of the quote “be the person that you needed when you were younger.” Love that. So how did you find Destiny and when did you start playing?

EpicDan22: I've been a Halo fan since 2001 when my childhood best friend introduced me to Combat Evolved. I was blown away and played every Halo daily throughout the next years. They would release around the time of my birthday, so it was always exciting when a new one came out because it felt like they were giving me a birthday present. Once Destiny was announced, I knew I was on board. I remember finding the easter egg in Halo 3: ODST and being so excited for where Bungie were going. I tried out the Beta on my Xbox 360 and have been playing Destiny practically ever since.
What type of content do you like to focus on?

EpicDan22: I focus on helping and teaching players how to engage with and enjoy the more difficult parts of the PVE game. Raids, dungeons, secret missions—anything PVE that they may feel like they would have never been able to take part in. I help them build the confidence to dive into that content as well as feel confident enough to help and teach their friends.
Cross Play offered a PC-main like myself an unlimited number of people to help. Helping players grow became even easier without the barrier of where you play standing in the way.  If they are a solo player in my community, we are always willing to give them the fireteam they thought they'd probably never have. Social anxiety is a big thing for a lot of players, especially solo players who have been burned by negative experiences. It is important to me to strive to allow players of differing social levels in the space to engage as much or little as they feel comfortable with but always leave with a feeling of accomplishment and desire to do that content again.
I know your answer here (they say with a sneaky grin) but Warlock, Hunter, or Titan and your absolute favorite loadout?

EpicDan22: Warlock. (Cackles are heard in the background.) Even though I play Hunter and Titan just as much whenever something new comes out, I always take my Warlock through first. Sorry Titans and Hunters. I love you all still.
Loadouts are tough as I'm always switching it up but I think the weapons I always come back to are Huckleberry and PLUG ONE.1 with Reservoir Burst, or Heritage and Tarrabah (I'm excited for the new Exotic primary buffs) I do spend a lot of time on top-tree Dawnblade but I've been running mainly bottom-tree Dawnblade with Dawn Chorus lately (all the Solar explosions!). Sometimes I do love to go old school and just run bottom-tree Devour Void Warlock. Maybe I'll go back to it in The Witch Queen!
We are so excited to see what builds you and the community come up with in The Witch Queen! What kind of vibe does your channel have?

EpicDan22: The Epic Community is a community built on inclusiveness and a welcoming atmosphere. You can come chill and listen to some jazz (which is a staple around here) while learning all the ins and outs of PVE content so then you can teach your friends and become more and more invested in endgame content. We prioritize putting players in a position to succeed whether they're gaming with us or not. We talk a lot about food, music, and gaming. Among other things, that’s what you can expect when you come to the Epic Community.
Alright, with The Witch Queen only a few days post-release, what fun community events do you have coming up?

EpicDan22: While we recently helped over 1,500 Guardians get a Timelost Fatebringer earlier this month, currently I’m just playing a whole bunch of The Witch Queen and preparing for the day-one raid race. I’m excited to see what Bungie has done in the new raid and I’m excited to help take people through after the day-one raid race is over. My goal is to help at least 200 people get their raid clear so they can get their raid jackets. So, if you know anyone who wants to make sure they get their raid jacket, send them my way!
Well that sounds like a magical way to start next month off with a bang! So where can people find you?

EpicDan22: You can find me live every day on my Twitch channel. I don't have a set schedule because I'm pretty much on all the time doing some kind of community help. (You'll probably find me live while you're reading this!) You can also connect with me directly through my Twitter. I also share clips and occasional game guides on my YouTube and short clips on my TikTok. You can also check out my Instagram for food pics if you like that sort of thing. Feel free to join our Discord server if you're looking for a safe space to enjoy Destiny.
Anything else you want to leave us with?

EpicDan22: I'd like to give a special shoutout to the Epic Family and the community in my corner of the internet. Nothing that I do is without your support, trust, commitment, and belief in me. This and everything I've been able to accomplish has been because of you. From the mods of our Discord and Twitch channel to the daily support system that you've given me to be the best version of myself I can be in this community. To all the people that have been in my corner, thank you. Your support and belief in me mean more than you can ever imagine.

Thank you so much Dan for hanging out with us today! If you haven’t checked out last week’s Community Focus with Liana and Steve there’s no better time than right now! We hope you all have a great weekend exploring and please don’t forget to tag Liana, Cozmo, Dylan, or myself on Twitter with who you want to see featured in a Community Focus article.
