TL; DR: Dear Bungie: With Cross Save, you ain't just letting people use their stuff over multiple platforms. You're connecting me to my kid. Thank you.
I've been a dad to this kid since he was 7. He asked me if I would be his stepdad at 9. Games were a big deal for us: On our PS2 and PS3, we played the crap out of Star Wars Battlefront 2, Little Big Planet, all the Lego games and more — anything split screen.
As a teen, he took the Xbox path. Thought that was a good idea at the time, because we'd have both systems in the same house. I got the PS4, he got the Xbox One.
We both found Destiny in year 1. Didn't really stick with him until I bought him the season pass with Dark Below and House of Wolves. That summer, we both get hard-core ADDICTED. We share adventures and stories about raids. We share strategies and watch each other play. I watch him dominate in Crucible, he watches me, well, patrol, then makes fun of me for enjoying patrols.
We both enjoyed the game, but couldn't raid together. Same planets, different world.
Now the kid is 19. Turning into a hell of a man. He has a fantastic job that let him get an amazing gaming PC and a PS4. A PS4!
Over the years, I've joined and become admin of a clan of really great guys and girls. We've done almost everything the game has to offer, and kept going even through the dark times of Destiny 2's first year. My kid wasn't so lucky: his group fizzled out. He hasn't done a large amount of endgame in Forsaken because of this. Now I get to take him through! Thanks to my clan, we'll get him raid clears! Shattered Throne! Maybe pinnacle weapons! Definitely exotic weapons! My excitement about this has ME feeling like the kid here.
EDIT: Thank you, Anonymous Guardian, for the silver!
