Ill write it down here, because since its a "classified" weapon some people might not be able to drag it up

Josef opened the door. Shaxx filled the hallway beyond.
"You look like hell," said the Crucible Handler.
Josef scoffed. "Get out of here. I have Hive to hunt. No time for Crucible today."
"Hive. You lost her on the Moon?"
Josef said nothing.
"You arent the only Guardian to leave loved ones behind on that rock." Shaxx held out a long, laquered box. "The
Gunsmith asked me to deliver this personally."
"What's Banshee thinking? I can't afford this."
"I took care of it. Scavenged parts from my personal collection."
Josef considered it a moment.
"It's a good gun."
"She was a good dog. This isn't a replacement. But it will help you finish your business with the Hive. Then I expect to see you back in the Crucible. We could use the inspiration."

So, Luna's howl is named after Josef's pet dog Luna as an homage to her. I imagine it was likely how an officer gets attached to their K9 unit. It's their partner, and while it's not explicitly shown, I believe Luna was trained to fight by Josef's side, and other guardians may have the same thing, Like Hawthorne and her hawk. SIMILAR to how Hawthorne has a trained hawk. (EDIT: Since people keep mentioning this, and I have gotten a message calling me an idiot because Hawthorne isn't a Guardian, Yes. I know this. So I'll rephrase it to get my initial point across.)
This lore is very cool, and adds some depth to the gun.
