While the bricks will get an overhaul in regards to their color (and potentially more color options as well), that is intended and there is no plans to change that. I wish I could send you the wikipedia article on what kind of bricks those are, but it's not available in English, unfortunately.

Ah cool, they are a special kind of bricks, though, that has specific traits, they got their own article on german wikipedia to explain that.
