You actually can neither disable nor actively enable auto-linking. It will always auto-link between entities on a property for the owner of that property and not auto-link for anything on a property you have access to, but aren't owner of.

Not sure what you mean, my statement is the exact way it was developed and works in code.

As I said above, that is wrong. QA just retested that yesterday on my request.

We might introduce an option for that later down the road, but currently there is no plans. It's actually a very split thing through the community like with keep backpack open on ESC as well. A lot of people (me included) wish to keep autolinking for ease of use without being newbies, unfortunately.

Isn't this kind of self-correcting? I recall you saying that the real goal is for stockpiles to have to feed into at least the crafting stations with a conveyer system. I mean at that point the autolinking goes away doesn't it?
I can't remember saying that, actually. When talking about conveyor belts the only thing I usually state is that they are the likely maximum of what we'll have for automation and that automation is well after Early Access. Conveyor belts also would likely only work over short distances and in enclosed rooms of high enough quality.

In any case, such conveyors - as other planned ways of transport from storage to storage I cannot yet say anything about - are more towards end-game, meaning linking will not become removed, just restricted in range.

In any case it is very true that linking is currently working a bit inconsistent between players of different access types and makes one half unhappy in either way, so will indeed be a perfect thing to note for a batch of the upcoming UX updates. It likely just won't be the first few batches of the revamp project.
