850s so let's address some questions since i
852s said that's what i was going to do
855s looking over on youtube now um i've been
857s playing a bit of no man's sky lately and
859s i totally fell in love with the solar
861s sail ship class would it be possible to
863s see similar ships in everspace too in
864s the future i think that
867s based on where we're at with
869s development and um
872s and like how
873s our vision's been coming to fruition
875s like uh probably not
877s probably not gonna see like ship sales
880s and stuff
881s that's not really a theme that we are
884s going for um
887s but you know i'm happy that you enjoy it
888s from other sci-fi games they're they're
890s doing something that you enjoy awesome
892s it's just not uh not really the
893s direction that we're taking

900s so let's see let's uh answer some more
902s questions
903s how does energy versus kinetic damage
905s work energy weapons good against shields
907s kinetic damage good against armor
912s so uh basically yes
914s so the way that energy and kinetic
916s damage work let me try and give you an
917s example here
919s um there's there's no enemies in here
922s with armor at all oh hello asteroids
927s all right well
930s we'll do one with shields this is a
931s proto scout the shields if i were to use
933s this rapid autocannon against the shield
935s it takes a long time to break see that
938s taking a long time ignore the fact that
940s there's corrosion damage
941s doing work
944s um but the auto cannon didn't even break
946s the shields yet the corrosion damage
948s from my secondary actually killed him

952s uh but it does very little damage
953s because
955s the the kinetic damage
958s only deals damage to armors and the hole
962s and energy damage
964s only deals damage to shields in the hole
968s you'll notice i said pull twice in that
970s that's because the full amount of both
973s kinetic and energy damage is applied to
976s the hole
977s combine the numbers and that's the power
979s that's the strength of the weapon
981s barraging a defenseless opponent
984s but as you can see here with this rapid
986s autocannon our energy dps is a mere 217
990s very low in a level 22 standpoint
993s especially when you look at our synchro
995s pulse and it's almost a thousand so when
997s i'm attacking that shield with a kinetic
1000s based weapon that's not utilizing its
1003s kinetic damage output it's not going to
1005s do much damage at all
1007s conversely if the enemy had shields and
1010s i was using the synchro pulse you'd have
1011s the same effect the synchro pulse's
1014s energy dps even though so high would do
1017s nothing against
1019s strong armor
1020s and instead would only do that small
1022s amount of kinetic dps you see
1027s now you'll also notice that both of
1029s these weapons like if we were to combine
1031s the dps's the synchro pulse would
1034s actually be a little bit higher right
1036s so in actuality if we're comparing these
1040s two weapons specifically and we're also
1041s ignoring all the modifiers we're just
1043s looking at the numbers at the top the
1044s synchro pulse is actually more effective
1046s against the whole of a ship
1049s there you go
1054s hopefully that's some good clarification
1057s for you
1060s and if i can get some more examples i
1062s will absolutely do so
1065s oh here's a proto scout and its shields
1067s are just going to be melted because i
1069s used that cinco poles now my synchro
1071s pulse this thing is actually absurd it's
1072s a level 23
1074s um and i've boosted its energy damage
1077s further so its energy consumption is
1079s actually nuts um
1081s you can like it's completely drained i
1083s have to wait for it to recharge here
1085s i'm gonna just use it again
1088s uh but you can see like as i'm using
1090s this thing like it goes out fast like i
1092s can't fire anymore
1095s so it's really really important to have
1097s at least some degree of energy
1099s management
1100s through either consumable usage or just
1103s having a really nice dedicated uh energy
1106s core to
1108s emphasize weapon usage and regeneration
1112s so what i mean by that is like this one
1113s this one's straight across the board
1115s energy core
1116s outputs for weapons shield and boost are
1118s all completely equal
1121s it's a boring but it works well
1124s energy poor jack of all trades master of
1126s none but these can absolutely have more
1128s emphasis on weapons or shields or boosts
1131s depending on what it is you would like
1133s to uh
1135s push oh here's some armor
1137s so our pulse laser here is gonna do
1139s absolutely crap damage to this armor she
1141s can well if i hit it
1144s there you go see
1145s it's not doing a lot of damage at all to
1147s that armor
1153s yeah this is very base level
1156s sort of uh explanation of and showcasing
1159s of how energy and kinetic damage
1162s are utilized in this game space
1176s take out some of these enemies then we
1178s will keep chatting this is a very simple
1180s high-risk area and when i say very
1182s simple i mean it's just my level and
1183s there's no mutators at all
1186s we didn't have any mutators generated in
1188s here so this is kind of like something
1189s that you would be up against uh and the
1192s current build
1194s before the mutators have been added
1204s oh what's that question what's the max
1207s level for any weapon uh right now max
1209s levels are are bound to like the
1211s player's level at the at this time
1214s um but obviously i have a level that's
1216s one higher
1218s um
1219s because i fought an enemy that was
1221s higher level than me and it dropped it
1223s so i guess
1224s i guess i just lied you can get items
1227s you can get items that fall at one level
1230s higher as of right now but we are
1232s looking at other opportunities uh in the
1234s future of what that could look like
1237s because after all there is an ability to
1240s adapt weaponry that's a higher level
1242s than you
1244s and if you're only utilizing that to get
1245s a weapon that's literally one level
1247s higher that kind of
1249s feels bad man you know
1262s i think it's also important to mention
1264s that uh
1266s with the dynamic level scaling
1269s if you are a lower level than the area
1272s that you are present in
1274s you would be able to engage with those
1276s that are several levels higher than you
1279s and the gear that they drop is still
1280s going to be
1282s uh closer to their level as opposed to
1284s yours
1286s so if you are
1288s pushing yourself if you're challenging
1289s yourself in a higher level area than
1291s where you have uh progressed in the game
1293s space
1296s you can get items that are
1298s over leveled but then convert them for
1300s use if you have the resources
1307s this bomber was a really good example of
1309s the shield and armor you could see how i
1313s swapped
1314s my gear in order to gain the best effect
1316s this guy i took out his shields with the
1318s rim so well not actually a ram but
1321s the energized boost
1328s excellent
1349s why high-risk zones are risky outlaws
1351s are looting going to their base or
1353s looking for wreckage uh so i would
1355s consider what we what we are doing we
1358s consider these high-risk areas uh kind
1360s of like meet-up places for outlaws so
1363s whenever you are um
1366s whenever you are decoding these come on
1369s there we go whenever you are decoding
1371s these signals
1373s these signals are effectively
1376s telling you of like where
1378s outlaws are present in or rather where
1381s there's a
1383s large group of
1387s something happening
1389s because it could also be redeemers it
1390s could also be something else wink wink
1392s nudge nudge depending on what system
1394s you're in
1396s and what's going on in the game
1398s um and so through that once you decode
1400s the signal and get a lock on the
1402s positioning where these people are
1404s meeting
1405s then you go there it's high risk because
1408s you know that there are enemies there
1410s you know that they are uh
1412s they are
1413s opposing signals from you and then you
1416s are you go through the challenges to
1418s complete your tests
1420s that's uh that's basically why we have
1422s named them the way that we did i think i
1424s could one cycle this guy if he opens up
1431s all right we're gonna run out of we're
1432s gonna run out of juice all right maybe
1434s maybe
1437s nope not fast enough all right

1453s i think it's because i changed my passes

1494s when you take out the boss in a high
1496s risk it guarantees
1499s a blueprint to drop now generally
1502s speaking it prioritizes catalysts first
1506s okay so let me let me just say that one
1508s more time so when you're in a high risk
1510s area and you beat a boss
1512s it will always drop a blueprint always
1516s and it prioritizes catalysts first in
1519s fact catalyst blueprints only drop in
1522s high risk areas at this time
1526s but once you get all the catalyst
1527s blueprints you can
1528s absolutely start finding blueprints for
1531s all the other things by still doing high
1533s risk areas
1534s guaranteed drops so it's nice
1537s so it's nice
1547s yeah but why the outlaw there in lore
1549s logic and gaming of is pretty good as a
1551s challenge uh okay oh so you're wanting
1553s lore
1555s i love this question immediately so uh
1558s yeah i've i've been uh really cracking
1560s open dialogue about lore recently and uh
1563s so i love this question in short
1567s there used to be this grand war between
1571s the okar an alien reptilian species
1574s present in the belt of grades which is
1576s where this cluster is
1578s where we're currently flying and the
1580s colonials which are mostly humans mostly
1584s humans coming from earth in fact uh to
1587s find new opportunities right and uh
1590s things went down uh people died and then
1593s everyone was like we need to stop
1595s shooting each other so a treaty was made
1597s they started to demilitarize the belt
1601s grades hence why this is now known as
1602s the dmz the demilitarized zone the
1605s demilitarized
1607s yeah demilitarized zone
1609s and
1611s um there were a bunch of punks
1615s who decided instead of like following
1617s the treaties and they're like you know
1618s what i'm just we're gonna we're not
1619s gonna be colonial affiliated we're gonna
1621s say no to that we're gonna be our own
1623s boss
1624s we're not gonna operate inside of the
1626s law we're going to operate outside of it
1629s and uh we're going to stay and pick up
1631s all the militarized pieces we're going
1633s to scoop it up we're going to start a
1634s new life and we're going to have happy
1636s days
1637s and as you can imagine
1639s there's a lot of pockets of people that
1642s exist out here that are doing crazy
1645s things to try and survive
1647s most of them end up being hostile
1650s because instead of having a good
1652s meal to eat they got all this
1654s militarized goods these leftovers from a
1656s war uh that they need to utilize to
1660s either beg borrow or steal
1663s from others that exist in this area now
1665s it has been getting cleaned up a bit
1667s there are more noteworthy factions uh or
1670s rather manufacturers that have been
1671s making their presence known in the dmz
1674s but for the most part you're gonna have
1676s pockets of resistance you're gonna have
1677s pockets of rebels you're gonna have
1680s these outlaws that exists basically
1683s everywhere it's just a matter of
1685s locating them cracking open their
1687s signals and uh you know
1690s taking them out reforming them what have
1692s you and for our game because we like to
1695s you know shoot things and blow them up
1697s it happens to be shoot things blow them
1699s up and collect loot

1737s just crossed into
1739s the smuggler's wheel so our high risk

2100s the hotas host support
2103s i think he's inevitably going to be

2106s track ir support as well like i think i
2108s think he's the one in charge of that but
2110s regardless we do have track ir support
2111s that's also going to be showing up
2113s obviously that's not you know a
2114s controller but still like just
2117s highlighting some other things that are
2118s still happening in the future

2156s won't provide presets nor tests for
2158s pedals dance mats steering wheels

2165s so try using those at your own risk

2386s the zerulia
2387s uh faction if you will this is something
2389s that we've been talking about will make
2391s their presence uh soon in the summer

2398s another sub-faction of outlaws
2400s they're much larger than a traditional
2403s faction uh of them so instead of them
2405s just being general outlaws uh they have
2408s a lot more purpose they have a lot more
2409s weight uh in the everspace 2 playing
2413s field
2415s similar to that of like a blood star
2417s right
2418s so uh they have their own unique styles
2420s they have their own special effects
2423s and stuff
2425s and this is the first uh look that we
2427s had on their version of the scout bomber
2429s and drone they're just labeled as that
2431s right now could change not honestly true
2435s but let's keep cracking into this doing
2437s a little bit more
2439s we also have shown the okar prime combat
2441s units this is the concept art i think
2443s it's really cool to just look at this
2446s and see
2447s how well this was realized like this
2449s came out of an artist's mind

2503s was content locked behind the dlc
2507s that is so
2509s kind of actually awesome if you think
2510s about it because normally you know the
2512s gameplay experience anyway the point is
2514s the point is is that if you embarked on
2516s the quests with alec this friendly guy
2520s part of this faction known as the
2521s coalition uh he was having some trouble
2524s dealing with these phantom retired
2526s retaliators right and so you embarked on
2529s this sort of quest to help him uh build
2532s up his ranks and through that process uh
2535s you ran into this boss known as zack
2538s that you had a like surprise attack and
2540s then the coalition swooped in took him
2542s down uh anyone remember zack any of you
2545s and you guys out there you're like oh my
2546s gosh i know that name that's familiar or
2548s maybe there's one of you out there who
2550s was like oh yeah i was the king
2551s kickstarter backer who plugs that name
2554s into the game for the boss that'd be
2556s cool if you're present
2558s but otherwise you take them down you
2560s keep moving into new space new
2562s territories and you also take down
2566s a
2567s uh the previous coalition base that was
2570s taken over by the phantom retaliators
2574s spoilers but that's what you do with
2576s alec
2577s you go in and you clean out the phantom
2579s retaliators pushing them out of a
2582s certain system
2584s in everspace one
2585s now that system is not defined it could
2588s be a pocket base that they had in a
2590s neighboring system to drake maybe it was
2592s actually in drake
2594s it's possible i suppose
2597s but the retaliators are still very much
2599s alive and well and they are pissed off
2602s probably at the coalition and maybe at
2605s more people but as you can see from
2606s their general aesthetic
2608s they have this very
2610s icy almost like frosty store sort of
2612s aesthetic to them uh very cold
2615s uh you know these white these like
2618s bright neon sort of colors to highlight
2620s it uh and the you know the soft blues
2623s um and their variation of the you know
2626s drone carrier here shows them
2629s uh they
2630s i mean they're very present they mean
2632s pretty serious business and we'll see
2635s more of them i imagine pretty soon oh
2637s whoops wrong direction
2639s uh we also had seen the oak our clerical
2641s corvette we already seen that before
2643s let's get into some new stuff oh yeah

2650s understand all that beautiful rich lord
2653s but this one's actually a
2655s another wing set for the gun ship now i
2658s know that a lot of you guys are super
2659s eager to see more wings and they are
2662s being worked on uh they just aren't
2664s necessarily priority right now okay um
2667s but we do have this conceptor to show
2669s you so the gunship's still getting a lot
2671s more love this is probably the the least
2674s engine like wings that the gunship has
2682s oh my goodness oh i see zorillia in chat

2710s it's also less blocky i know that that's

2715s criticism of the gunship

2719s smoother angles

2724s squad uh this was something that we also
2726s talked about

2733s aiming for so uh gradient brunt also has
2737s you know particularly the more corrupt
2739s members of gradient run
2741s have a bit more aggressive painting
2743s schemes on their ships and you can see
2745s that here been a bit further refined um
2748s as well as the details of the ship like
2750s we're talking like the side wings and
2751s stuff like you can see a bit of
2753s variation that further distinguishes
2755s these ships apart and uh those subtle
2758s little nuances um especially when you're
2760s like fighting them in game seeing all
2761s these added angles and whatnot
2763s um
2764s or just protrusions in general
2768s for me in particular it tells me that
2770s squeak though uh it tells me oh hey this
2772s enemy's a little bit stronger this enemy
2774s is a little bit more dangerous uh so
2776s yeah more protrusions means more
2778s dangerous you know just like spiders i
2780s guess or something anyway

2791s i like this one this is another zarelia
2795s outlaw faction destroyer going on here
2798s you guys are probably picking up that
2799s zorelia's got this very fiery color
2801s scheme to it you know it's
2803s almost looks like there's lava coursing

2808s and with these destroyers uh yeah these
2810s are not messing around they actually
2812s have additional turrets uh they have
2815s thermal shields what's what's that all
2817s about that's interesting uh they also
2819s can ram

2825s man what what in the world is this thing
2827s designed for it doesn't seem like it's
2829s very similar to the standard destroyer
2831s but it's got a purpose it's got an
2833s incentive
2835s and uh yeah it's uh
2837s there you go these are
2839s these are definitely uh
2841s not fully implemented yet i don't think
2842s maybe they are uh but if they're not um
2846s we are we've been doing actually a lot
2848s of work on these factions within drake
2851s progress has been good i want to say

3019s possible
3020s that we might have an opportunity to
3022s have some sort of like
3024s viridium-based weapon or product maybe
3028s that the player could ultimately use uh
3030s we'd have to finagle the lore a little
3032s bit with that because sincerely
3033s authentically the lore between ogar and
3036s colonial tech is that they don't they
3038s don't blend they do not work with one
3040s another um and the closest that you get
3043s with that is how you have the mokar that
3045s side question ever space 2 where outlaws
3048s are hijacking oak car ships they're not
3051s even augmenting their
3053s standard like colonial based ships
3057s with oak artek because they can't
3059s instead they're they're stealing oak car
3061s vessels and finding ways to uh change
3064s the cockpit to fit inside
3066s but those are enemies right that's not
3069s the player we don't have uh uh
3071s incentives we don't have direction we
3073s don't have a desire uh to do that for
3076s the player side
3080s so hopefully that's a thorough answer on
3082s that front i also know it's probably not
3084s what you want to hear but i want to make
3085s sure you understand where we're at what
3087s we're uh creating on that front

3319s day truly the design direction the
3322s design direction for the player ship is
3324s to make it distinct and in order to make
3326s something distinct is by having its own
3328s unique silhouette that is not mimicked
3330s or copied
3331s anywhere else that's why the player ship
3334s has a lot of different modules for you
3335s to have your own distinct look you have
3338s your own color palette uh to present
3341s yourself in your game space as the only
3343s one with that customized vessel
3346s that's how that works

3373s factions you know the zerelia faction
3375s phantom retaliators the coalition blood
3377s star
3378s all of these factions were present
3381s during the wars
3383s when the peace treaties were made
3386s these factions then were created
3389s like for example the blood star faction
3391s i don't know if you know this but the
3392s blood star faction
3394s is the remnants
3396s of the workers of palemont
3399s palemon's wound when it exploded from
3401s the old car a lot of those survivors

3405s rather the few survivors and their
3407s families like in order for them to
3409s capitalize in the dmz and survive beyond
3412s that they decided you know what we're
3413s going to create our own group we're
3415s going to have our own rules we're going
3416s to do something about this and it
3418s started off as something good and pure
3420s and it got twisted as most things in the
3423s dmz tend to do
3426s the retaliators are also no different on
3428s that front they're actually they were
3429s part of a militarized uh group i think
3433s even maybe colonial specifically
3437s but you know things went sideways for
3439s them um

3451s same time as like bloodstar like when
3453s the treaties were made um

3467s the coalition in particular like they
3468s really butt heads with one another

4952s hear it like cut off and you don't get
4954s the added reverb of every single shot

4958s some pretty solid work on that front to

4963s pulse lasers you can hear the reverb
4965s beyond that
4967s right every single one you can hear um
4969s also on the auto cannons that was a big
4971s issue i think i was even creating some
4972s crashes for us um but yeah it's a

7084s are it's off the charts it's absurd and

7088s the colonials
7090s haven't really found too much of a use

7110s the energies that radiate from viridium
7112s also seem like they could be bound to
7115s interstellar travel that the old car

7130s though they're spaced out somewhat far
