411s some weapons here to talk about finally
414s so you guys knew that more set items
417s would eventually make their way into the
418s game this is just a sampling we've got a
420s slew of of equipment that's still in
423s route
424s for the spring update you will have
426s access to both of these bad boys though
428s so what are these what's penumbra what's
430s umbra
432s well basically it's a blaster and a flat
434s cannon
435s some people might be going wow i never
437s use blasters or flat cannons because
438s they're kind of underrated or or maybe
441s they're ineffective especially like 1v1
443s battles right and you're kind of
446s partially true so one of the goals that
448s we had in mind for this particular item
451s set bonus was not only taking these
454s weapons that aren't as
455s popular
457s and then transforming them to be
458s incredibly cool when they're used
460s together
462s so we are going to plop both of these
464s bad boys on and you'll see from the set
466s bonus itself
468s it's a very simple one
470s very effective however switching primary
473s weapons increases their damage by 30 for
476s 5 seconds
480s this is effectively a straight 30
483s damage boost
484s just for having them equipped in tandem
487s yeah that's that's a pretty big bonus
490s that's a pretty big bonus so we are
492s going to be showing that on these lesser
495s used weapons and maximizing their effect
497s and of course they also have their own
499s sound effects and they have their own
501s visuals you're wondering what those look
503s like and sound like so let's uh let's

608s bright star looking one and then you
610s have like i mean that straight up looks
613s like little eclipses

619s so we are very pleased with how this has
622s come together and these weapons i mean

626s you've heard me bash on the flat cannon
628s a strong number of times
630s uh when i stream um and this does happen
633s to be one of michael's the ceo one of
635s his favorite weapons the flat cannon
637s itself um and you know i really like
640s that single target damage if you're
642s using the flat cannon though in like a
643s range of like uh drones and stuff oh my
646s gosh the thing absolutely shreds and
648s when you pair it with the union eclipse
650s set bonus though uh this this black is
653s not messing around
655s yeah you might be thinking oh it shoots
657s so slow but that's because every single
660s shot i mean look at this damage

664s that's damage per second

673s single enemy hits within a 50 meter

852s temporary right now it's temporary in
854s the sense of uh it's gonna change
858s a pretty healthy amount actually right
860s now it's a very rudimentary difficulty
862s system where when you scale it up and
864s down it's basically like a little bit of
867s stat changes and that's it that is not
870s the vision for what we have for our
872s difficulty system just so everybody is
874s aware it's not just a matter of how many
876s hit points your enemy has and how
878s accurate they are it's gonna be more
880s deep than that uh just refer to
883s everspace one on that front where you
885s can actually see how the game changes
887s based on the difficulty selected we will
890s inevitably have those uh that
891s information included here in the game
893s difficulty as well but for now we're
895s just playing on very hard that just
897s makes it the stats increase for now for

967s you didn't get a prefix guess what you
969s can just bloop add on a catalyst you
971s just need the resources for it resources
974s are much more convenient in this spring

978s that's it that's all we had to do now if
980s we also wanted to make this again and

983s penumbra as well you guys probably saw
985s that that was a selection for me when i
987s was modifying
989s you can do that
990s note it does not become an efficient
993s rapid penumbra
995s it removes the currently assigned prefix
998s and replaces it with the new prefix all

1002s i said one more time just make sure
1004s everybody understands
1006s when you are adding

1009s catalyst that modifies a prefix it will
1012s take the prefix on there off and then
1014s add the new one
1016s right you cannot stack a bunch of
1018s different prefixes

1028s dps uh it's gonna be hard to hit because
1030s the spread of this weapon is actually a
1032s little bit crazy but that's fine uh
1034s because we're gonna be firing a ton as
1036s the stinger definitely the stinger ship

1050s do some high-risk locations
1054s in the stinger for now
1056s and then we are going to cycle over to a
1059s couple other player ships to talk about
1061s some rebalancing
1071s does the addition of the catalyst change
1073s the modified flag uh i believe it does
1077s no it doesn't ha ha it doesn't so that
1079s means when you add a catalyst that does
1081s not change the modify which means we
1083s could actually still modify this thing
1086s in regards to other elements that's
1088s actually another talking point which i'm
1090s glad was brought up thank you kazaa for
1093s asking that over on twitch
1096s so you know how there's this requirement
1098s of modifying where uh you can only do it
1102s once

1110s so basically there's a couple things
1112s that have been changed on that front
1114s basically you can only increase the
1116s rarity once
1118s uh you can only increase the level once
1121s i think is currently how it's working
1123s and then you can of course remove the
1125s level restriction but some of these

1132s you just have to pay for it that's all
1134s that's honestly the difference let me

1199s one thing once and that's it

1214s going to help you as a player with this

1219s truly get the best bang for your buck if
1222s you're gathering the resources if you're
1224s crafting the components you're going to
1225s be able to modify a lot to your liking
1229s in this spring update that is soon that
1231s we'll be talking about its release date

1395s maneuverability
1397s and in order to not take a lot of damage
1399s on very hard you have to be moving

1463s and we got the swift catalyst to boot

1474s area of effect damage through its

1479s all that energy back to you

1485s really good about this it sounds a lot
1486s uh louder today all right hang on a
1488s second it might just be the weapon
1490s itself yeah we're we're operating at

1496s amount but uh it's just a loud weapon

1522s what's the plan for the final version of
1525s difficulty scaling what will change
1526s between levels that is a fantastic
1529s question that we're not a hundred
1530s percent capable of answering at this
1533s time because
1534s some of it is content related
1537s and it would be revealing
1539s but in short
1541s the main goal of the difficulty system
1543s is to you know
1545s increase the challenge that's that's the
1548s end goal but we don't want it to be this
1551s is less grindy and this is more grindy
1553s that is the that's the no-no territory
1555s we want to go with a difficulty
1558s selection okay
1559s the entire point of difficulty is so
1562s you can have more engagements you can
1566s uh get things to be a bit crazier
1569s you can have more opportunities for
1571s utilizing your combat and the easier
1572s modes are for if you want to focus less
1575s on combat right if you don't want to
1577s have this crazy dogfight six degrees of
1579s freedom challenge maybe
1582s that's just not the type of gamer you
1584s are you just want to have a more casual
1585s experience you want to focus on you know
1588s just collecting resources or
1591s you know stuff of that nature
1594s we want you to be able to adjust it
1595s where you
1597s are at and how you want to experience
1599s the game now obviously
1601s everspace 2 is a looter shooter so the
1605s core functionality is to be shooting and
1608s looting
1611s but still
1613s i just figured there'd be i mean it'd be
1615s nice to have a little bit more
1616s versatility and player agency uh
1619s regarding how that's hitting you in the
1621s face
1630s more challenging and more rewarding so
1632s i'll say this so one of the things we
1633s don't want to do cake take nine over on
1636s youtube uh great question
1638s uh we don't want to make it to where
1640s there's content locked
1642s behind a higher difficulty right
1645s content gating is not something that we
1647s want to do
1648s when it comes to just the difficulty
1650s slider so if you want to experience all
1652s the content that doesn't mean you have
1654s to crank it up to very hard
1656s furthermore if you go down to very easy
1658s because that's just where you're at and
1659s that's how you can play
1661s you're not going to miss any content
1662s there either
1664s now if you do the math
1666s if you're fighting one enemy versus four
1669s enemies
1670s the chance to get an item that you're
1672s looking for is far less from a single
1674s enemy versus from multiple enemies so on
1677s that front it's more rewarding but it's
1680s effectively creating a high risk high
1682s reward situation as opposed to content
1685s gating situation okay
1688s so that is what the end goal is for the
1690s difficulty system

1735s that will be dropping pretty soon

1762s but a big aspect of the spring update is
1765s a balance and overhaul change to
1768s foundational systems in place

1772s it's a balancing and overhauling of the
1775s game systems
1776s primarily with a couple you know
1778s sprinkled in items a new player ship of
1781s course
1782s there's some there's some more content
1784s that i'm not going to be you know fully
1786s diving into just yet at least not until
1788s we uh
1790s get into the full launch mode

1815s this update is focused mostly on those
1818s back end overhauls and balancing things
1828s and then the summer update is probably

1871s you see here okay uh specifically these

1875s this stuff you can kind of avoid uh you

1927s they're not exactly where they need to

1937s most notably and i kind of hinted at
1939s this at one point in time the sentinel
1941s okay so we'll talk about each of the
1942s ships and i'm hoping to fly the sentinel
1944s if it's an option here uh because each
1946s one of these
1947s and i'm sorry wiki editors it's going to
1949s be a lot of work going through each one
1950s of these
1951s but it's an important change
1954s so shield and armor as a whole have been
1956s revamped across every single
1959s player class ship
1961s player playership every single ship
1964s all of them
1965s that plus sign by the way means that
1967s these can be modified further uh through
1970s items and uh modifiers whereas whole i
1972s mean it's straight up that is the bonus
1974s that you get
1975s all right so
1978s spirit
1979s the scout
1980s class
1982s each of the scout classes now have a 15
1986s shield bonus and a 20 armor bonus all
1989s right so they're a little bit meatier
1992s than i believe they were before uh in
1994s fact a lot of the light ships as a whole
1997s were uh some of them actually took a
2001s took an l
2003s if i recall correctly some of them that
2005s was like you had negatives
2007s so you lost a bit
2010s so uh yeah so
2012s these changes are applicable to how the
2015s ship is handled how the ship is meant to
2017s be played and the play styles that we've
2018s been seeing you guys pick up as well as
2020s the desired play styles that we have for
2022s it
2024s so in short
2025s the scout you know
2027s obviously its focus is long range
2030s we want it to be incredibly powerful at
2032s that range but if you get one-shotted in
2035s it
2036s doesn't feel very good so we beefed up
2038s the armor class a bit further
2042s and made sure that this ship is far more
2044s sustainable to take some hits allowing
2046s you to fly back around and issue your
2048s guerrilla tactics uh behind
2052s asteroids and you know all that type of
2054s stuff
2055s without too much worry
2057s and i'm not gonna go through every
2058s single one of these ships here guys if
2060s anybody's wondering is he really going
2061s to do that no no i'm not but we'll get
2064s there eventually when we update but now
2066s you can see that the middle ships
2068s the medium classes um
2070s wow
2072s this is a interceptor class ship
2075s it's a tier 2 plus
2077s and it has a 65 shield bonus
2081s 65 shield bonus armor bonus is 45
2085s armor bonus is 45
2088s a big thing that we were recognizing
2090s through the medium ships is their
2091s survivability was actually um
2095s not ideal
2097s in comparison to all of the ship classes
2100s this isn't just like if you compare it
2101s to the heaviest because the heavies are
2102s supposed to last longer but
2105s as a whole
2106s all all of the mediumship classes they
2108s needed a little bit more oomph to them
2110s so you'll have you'll see that through
2112s all of the mediums as we see uh through
2115s here vanguard um
2118s he's
2119s fierce with his shields
2121s with the overcharge bonus
2124s we wanted to make sure that this paired
2126s more accordingly to that bonus
2129s while still being a light fighter
2134s another vanguard another vanguard oh
2136s come on
2137s we got the gunship oh man you guys are
2139s gonna love the gunship now
2141s if you guys hate getting shot by outlaws
2145s uh this is the ship for you honestly
2147s because do you see that armor percentage
2149s do you see how it's over 100
2156s um
2157s yeah so the gunship
2160s is a tank we've talked about this this
2163s is no surprise
2166s but its armor has been
2168s further increased
2171s so much further increased
2174s that when you are taking kinetic damage
2176s so long as you have the right plating
2178s involved so long as you are equipped
2180s thoroughly you're gonna maximize your
2182s opportunities here
2184s you'll also notice that the hole itself
2186s uh 1 317 i don't think we actually have
2189s like a ton of bonuses hang on one second
2190s i want to
2192s do a quick uh
2193s quick compare i need to go to my
2195s inventory uh
2196s yeah our structure isn't really super
2201s but like when you're comparing um the
2203s gunship obviously to the stinger you
2206s know it has
2207s almost a thousand more hit points
2209s that's nothing to scoff at
2212s that is nothing to scoff at remember
2213s this these these things can be further
2215s improved by items and
2217s tweaking your attributes and whatnot

2338s pretty substantial boon to how it

2345s completely honest this is not a popular

2352s flying it and it makes me sad
2355s but maybe you'll start flying it when
2357s the shields
2358s are 80 percent
2360s increased
2362s when compared to its expertise that
2364s straight up reduces the shield
2367s damage so if you are maximizing your
2370s expertise with this insane shield bonus
2373s that it provides

2953s player agency
2955s so as you guys know

2960s this very briefly um each one of these
2963s sectors actually has a unique level
2965s associated with it so when you go to a
2969s system
2970s you're going to have the system level
2973s compared to your player level in most
2975s cases
2977s that's going to make the enemies either
2979s easier or harder for you depending on
2981s that system's level in addition to that
2984s you also have jobs that have specific
2986s levels that don't care about the
2988s system's level at all so you could go to
2989s ceto take on a level 25 job and you're
2992s going to be challenged by level 25
2994s enemies in a level 25 situation
2997s and then you also have high risk areas
3000s which will always for the sake of the
3001s high risk area be more challenging than
3004s currently where you're at as well
3006s so there's a lot of way there are a lot
3008s of ways
3010s to bend the game's formula to your
3013s advantage if you're looking for those
3014s opportunities and there's also a lot of
3017s ways to have a more casual laid-back
3019s experience through the game's internal
3022s settings as well it really just comes
3023s down to how you're approaching that and
3025s what you want to do
3028s because we're not forcing you to take a
3029s level 25 mission
3031s a job you know um you choose that you
3034s could also take a level 15
3036s job if you wanted to rewards are going
3038s to reflect that for the challenge but

3363s challenge based on your skills not
3365s because of some stats hiding behind the

3895s well there's two three reasons why you
3898s might want to use something else
3900s because the flack is the most
3902s inefficient
3904s of the mining weapons
3907s so while it is the fastest
3909s it's not necessarily going to give you
3911s the highest yield of resources
3914s it's not going to it's not necessarily
3915s going to give you the greatest quality
3918s of resources but if you look at
3919s something like the beam laser there are
3922s modifiers on that that can make it so
3925s much better to mine with absolutely so
3928s much better but it does take a little
3929s bit more time to do so since you have to
3931s shoot each individual part
3934s of the mining
3936s bits the resources bits
3938s so um
3939s for those of you who don't want to take
3941s any time with mining flax going to be
3943s your ideal weapon or a missile you know
3945s however you want to do it but if you
3947s want to get that quality
3949s as opposed to just speed
3952s there are alternate means it's almost
3954s like we did that intentionally for you
3957s to decide how you went to mine

4641s the ships effectively have gotten
4644s stronger and more um the variation
4648s between ships has also increased this is
4651s to make the classes stand out a bit
4653s further and how you can capitalize on
4656s their specials and on their bonuses
4662s will we get a charged laser at some
4664s point oh there is a charged laser in the
4666s game
4667s uh you will have access to it in the
4669s spring update i believe it's called the
4670s decimator

4673s it's either the decimator or the
4674s disintegrator it's one of those two
4678s but yeah there is a really cool beam
4679s laser on that front and it can also get

4698s callus to your blaster does it replace
4700s the catalyst prefix is the behavior the
