227s there are there's immediately a couple

231s adjustments
233s that i can just dip into some maybe not
236s maybe not crazy but some that are just
238s pleasant
239s so we're just gonna hover over this
241s prototype um very subtle change here
244s this one's a lighter one but you can see
246s that now like your prototypes and this
247s also applies to star forged they will
250s have item borders to them uh so you can
253s just have a little bit more like wow
255s factor whenever you get to those bad
257s boys
258s uh good stuff good stuff just not just a
260s nice little convenience sort of thing
262s just to make it look just uh you know
265s give that added little i found a thing
267s uh sort of thing uh additionally i want
270s to be incredibly clear on this front so

273s the save game that i was using like the
276s last times we've been streaming it
278s became very clear to me that the way we
281s have rebalanced the uh experience gains
285s and the itemization generation
288s it is no longer
291s uh very realistic to be flying around at
293s like a level 20 space with fully maxed
297s out superior equipment in order to do
299s that you'd have to do a little bit of
300s grinding superior equipment is really
302s meant for like the 25
305s plus range
306s and um you know then you know we haven't
309s really cracked into legendaries yet but
311s the reason why i'm addressing this is
312s what you see on the screen here
314s this is a fairly realistic loadout of
318s what we would have
319s at level 23. so when you see something
322s like a superior item drop it should be
325s pretty exciting
328s especially if you start over
330s uh your save whenever the summer update
332s that's coming out this summer launches
334s um you know building yourself up from
336s level one you're going to have a lot
339s more especially with oh my gosh so many
341s things rebalanced it's nuts it's it's
343s just ridiculous uh the figures that are
346s behind the scenes bringing this all
347s together
349s um which we continue to talk about every
351s week um but yeah the tiers also being
354s addressed in that front and then you
355s know you have the prototype and the
356s starforge grades
358s that just we keep adding these layers
360s it's kind of it's kind of silly
362s in the best way possible now this is
364s something else which i'm not kind of
366s diving out of my orders uh incorrectly
369s but i don't care so this is this is one
372s that i think
373s is probably the most noteworthy uh thing
376s that we've had in uh some time
379s regarding how the mainframe expansions
381s work
384s so
385s very short previously the mainframe
387s expansions used to provide exactly 20
390s attribute points
392s and uh well that's no longer the case
394s here
395s if you if you look right next to my head
399s that i'm sort of blocking
401s this says that the mainframe expansion
403s provides a 15
404s increase
407s 15 increase that is not plus 15
411s that is plus 15 percent
413s so
414s that means that once all those numbers
417s all these all these
418s let me get my face all the way gosh dang
420s it eric get out of the way what are you
422s doing with with your life okay
424s much better so um
426s once you have those numbers
429s onto your ship and it all adds together
433s then main the number of mainframe
435s expansions in this case we have three
437s five percent for each uh
440s grouping of mainframe expansions up to
442s five right
444s each one
445s uh increases that number that is
448s calculated from all of your gear
451s and increases it by that percentage
453s point right so if we were to remove
456s these mainframe uh expansions
459s you'll see our value is uh
462s 1207 right so when we increase this
465s number 1207 by
467s 15 percent
473s that is what happens
476s so the mainframe expansion
479s is increasing that this value
483s your bonuses
485s as opposed to providing just that static
488s 20. so
489s in short
491s uh mainframe expansions are a freaking
493s heck of a ton better like we're talking
496s vast improvement over what they were
497s before so if you are taking the time and
500s energy to go and complete location
502s challenges to obtain these and plug them
504s in it will be beneficial as you are
507s leveling up i mean this is a direct this
509s has a direct impact on your scaling as
511s you're progressing through the game
513s right uh because if you're in a lower
516s level and 15 of whatever your value is
518s is still only 15
520s right it's like 300 okay well it's gonna
522s boost that by a little bit you're gonna
524s get something out of it versus in your
526s late game situation your firepower is
528s ten thousand i don't know whatever it is
531s then it's going to increase that value
532s by 15 or whatever you have right so uh
536s just a very simple uh update on this
539s front
540s which through our testing has already
542s felt so much better it feels so much
545s more rewarding having earned these
546s because they do have an impact
549s and in addition to this i even had a
551s quick chat with marco before the stream
554s my initial concern maybe somebody else
556s out there is thinking about it my
558s initial concern was like
560s man well what about something that you
561s haven't put like any stats into like
563s that's not gonna be very beneficial to
565s it whatsoever right
567s well
568s sort of so
570s when you're putting emphasis into one
572s stat like i have firepower is my biggest
574s stat here which really could use more
576s emphasis but you know stacking
579s the
580s mainframe overrides on it it's still
581s like you know it's nothing absurd but it
585s is very beneficial to have right like
587s we're taking it from
588s uh less than our precision and then
590s we're like really capitalizing on that
592s but if we wanted to use that on
593s something like structure and give that a
595s boon it's still gonna help hook it up
598s because you're gaining attributes every
600s time you level up
602s so regardless of how much emphasis
605s you've put across the board you're still
607s gonna gain those benefits
609s through whatever you put it into you're
611s never like losing the power um but i
615s think optimally how you guys want it to
617s be and how we're kind of viewing it is
619s that when you want to emphasize as much
622s stuff as possible like you really want
624s to crack home that firepower damage or
626s utility or whatever
627s when you invest the mainframe expansions
630s into it it's
631s multiplicative right it just makes it
633s explode even further so
635s that's a pretty big chain
637s of events on that front okay so i'm
639s gonna that was a bit just right out of
641s the gate so i'm gonna answer a quick
642s couple questions um what so let's see
644s here um
648s let's see is the summer update going to
650s become the fall update uh no it'll be in
653s fact the summer update that's coming out
654s this summer uh thanks for that t3 cube
657s uh chattaweek says why not have constant
660s rarity rates throughout the game i.e
662s similar chance to get a superior
663s legendary at level 1 as 30. because
666s that's just not the way we wanted to do
668s it honestly we wanted there to be unique
670s uh modifiers that show up progressively
673s over time that add depth to the loop
675s pull so that you are in constant pursuit
678s of something better uh that being said
680s you know if you are at a lower level uh
683s position and you are investing a lot in
684s your crafting and you're gaining a lot
686s of parts you can kind of like break that
688s formula if you will um especially if
690s you're grinding out blueprints for
692s example
693s so in a way that you can kind of like
696s bypass that system like if you're only
698s doing high-risk areas when you're a
699s lower level instead of progressing the
701s story
703s but if that's how you want to do it
705s you would find those routes but all in
707s all it's just the method that we wanted
710s to approach it we want those modifiers
712s to be that determining factor on that
714s front
715s then we also had just a couple quick

719s excelsior asked does it scale the same
722s for all attributes yes the scaling is
724s identical um it just depends on where
726s you are plugging it in so like if i took
728s our 15 out of precision we plug it into
730s structure it's also still 15

735s so and it's it's the the progression as

739s of those tiers as it moves up right

839s so this is a location inside of the
842s coalition's uh space if you will
846s as you can see uh man they've got
848s i got some serious issues with
850s retaliators and cerulea both goodness

854s so let's address some of this form

885s a beam laser though i like the way it
887s like the sound bends as you continue

901s that's a that's a big find right there
903s let's have a quick look at that that is
905s a star forged level 24 sensor
908s so you can also see i should have
910s should have slowed down there let it
912s linger in space but you could also tell
914s what it is in space like it has a little
916s extra circle around it um that's that's

921s that looks fantastic i think we're gonna

939s implemented this is a very subtle one

945s now whenever an attribute
947s isn't on the other one it's being
949s compared to we actually just list out
951s the attribute and show its
953s value that it doesn't have

958s since we have five power precision
960s resistance and expertise being compared
962s between these two
963s it shows the firepower difference
965s which of course is the entire amount of
967s the one that has it versus the one that
968s doesn't but then it also shows precision
971s resistance and expertise in that minus
973s volume again kind of subtle
975s but relevant
976s just to make it a bit easier
978s for a quick look to know what it is
980s you're gaining and losing

1041s a quick look so we have this
1044s coalition base
1048s look at look at that carrier my goodness
1050s all right ah we have this coalition base
1052s that's kind of like ebbing around the
1054s side of these rocks right
1057s it's almost like
1058s this used to be a super massive base and
1061s it's just this is all missing
1066s it's like you know we got these lights
1068s that are even like hey we we got this
1070s huge and it's it's just gone
1073s ha
1074s that's particular
1076s that's probably not good
1083s but yeah we've got this little coalition
1084s outpost here and we have these debris
1088s which are now highlighted to
1089s make it a lot easier to throw
1099s and we'll just kind of like zip around
1102s gather some stuff
1110s and obviously answer some more questions

1119s one thing we talked about last week
1121s was this combat mode not last week two
1124s weeks ago that was out last week oh
1127s but uh two weeks ago we talked about
1129s this addition of combat mode
1133s and you can see it subtly at the top and
1135s bottom of the screen there's a little
1136s right red highlight
1144s and we also talked about some of the
1146s implementations of how like that affects
1149s the game space so um
1152s real quick i just want to show an
1153s example here where we take these emp
1155s missiles and we equip them on
1157s and it's now it says 25 seconds
1162s what
1163s eric this is backwards this isn't an
1165s improvement you're freaking what are you
1167s doing this sucks you're making
1169s everything more difficult hang on there
1172s all right because i want to introduce
1174s you to a new perk
1176s we're talking about a new perk
1178s so we're going to go over to
1180s the hive
1183s and we have this one called startup
1185s delays
1189s startup delays
1190s reduces the startup delay after
1192s equipping the secondary weapon or
1193s consumable to 20 seconds so it reduces
1195s that from 25 to 20. you're like oh my
1197s gosh i have to spend a perk to get back
1200s to where i was at
1203s yes
1205s but don't worry it gets better
1208s so keep this in your mind as we're going
1210s to continue playing out this location
1212s without that perk and then i'm going to
1214s load up a save where we have everything
1216s and i'm going to show you its
1217s progression
1219s so a little tease
1221s little tease as we're moving into uh
1224s this new space
1225s and how we are
1227s designing
1229s this perk progression around this combat
1233s mode as you can see the location
1235s challenge here is to fix uh all of the
1238s leaks
1239s so we could do that
1242s i feel like i'll just leave you guys to
1244s this whenever we launch the summer
1245s update that's coming out this summer

1251s we build it you finish it

1466s making we still have new systems right
1468s so more music is inbound and
1471s that means that we could add in more
1473s music to the already existing systems so
1476s i could not say that any current system
1479s is complete regarding its music i can't
1483s say that because we could throw in a
1485s track and remove one we could
1488s replace tracks move them around
1491s so that's still a work in progress but
1494s do know that more music is in fact being
1497s created that is guaranteed

1807s so tier one you reduce that timer
1811s to 20 seconds now in a previous stream i
1814s had mentioned that when you are in
1816s combat we didn't want that timer to
1819s exist whatsoever which is set to this
1822s perk
1823s at tier two this
1825s removes the startup delays when not and
1827s uh yeah when not in combat so if you're
1830s not in combat
1831s you completely bypass
1834s having to wait around at all
1838s and then the third upgrade
1840s further reduces the start of delay
1842s when you're in combat
1845s to
1846s 15 seconds
1850s we're just going to grab that too
1856s so this whole combat mode mechanic is
1859s effectively tied to this perk
1862s so when you're introduced to it when you
1864s get it like yes there's
1867s you gotta invest the resources of course
1869s but once you have it it's gonna add that
1871s next level of convenience to where if
1872s you need something immediately like our
1875s secondary missile
1876s we we are hot swapping without any
1878s ramifications because there's nothing
1880s nearby and if we were in combat we'd
1882s only have to wait a mere 15 seconds now
1886s just 15 seconds
1888s as opposed to uh some of what we've had
1891s to deal with uh in other situations and
1894s cases all right so um next we're gonna
1897s do some high-risk area stuff and talk
1899s about some changes i think i actually
1901s need to discard this one and just
1903s generate a new one entirely

1945s but i can show you tracking uh resources

1953s like bouncing around i'm not sure what
1954s you saw that said mining tracker

1960s the summer update where you can choose
1962s what type of resource you're looking for
1964s and then it tells you where it's at
1965s provided you've added it to your map you
1967s have to discover it first
1969s before it populates here which
1972s that probably makes sense you can't be
1974s told where something is if you haven't
1976s been there like you have no data yet

1987s so we're in this high risk area enemies
1989s regenerate
1990s uh we have overheated systems so every
1992s 10 seconds which is actually reduced by
1994s a little bit uh because of our stats
1997s we'll have an overheated system and then
1999s enemies die in a corrosive dump
2003s so let's use our gear and best them
2007s one very pleasant change to high risk
2010s areas which i think a lot of you are
2012s going to appreciate
2015s is that now
2016s the boss meter fills up
2018s based on the type of enemy that you best
2023s i'm gonna say that again without combat
2024s going on
2026s your boss meter fills up based on the
2030s type of enemy that you best so if it's a
2032s drone it's not going to be much if it's
2034s a fighter it's going to be a little bit
2035s more if it's a big fighter or if it's a
2039s small freighter or something like that
2041s it's going to fill up even more et
2042s cetera et cetera
2045s so based on what you are fighting
2049s it will fill up accordingly
2055s my goodness we are
2057s in a little bit of trouble
2060s so let's just rectify that
2063s through our means
2071s there we go
2073s now we are playing on very hard in this
2075s state and we also have a loadout that
2077s would be far more applicable to where
2079s we're at what we are trying to
2080s accomplish here

2092s to be uh fairly competent on bringing

2129s survive if we get uh
2132s if we get destroyed which we did
2135s we absolutely did

2149s going to swap our device out for our emp

2154s more splash damage in on this
2160s as well as the ability to you know
2162s survive
2169s it's a lot of missiles oh and you're an
2171s elite oh that's no good
2173s but we are faster than you i can get
2175s around here
2187s oh i keep flying through that corrosion
2197s so what i'm gonna do here since this is
2200s not looking super great for me is i'm
2202s going to
2203s uh craft some large nanobots
2208s i'll have to wait 15 seconds but that'll

3393s tweaking and refinement and probably
3395s additions that will be added to the

3618s we had to revoke them because apparently

3628s this elite status renown earned from
3630s jobs is increased by 10 which just helps
3632s you get to that legendary status even
3634s faster and then this one jobs will
3636s always reward an additional item so
3639s uh when you are at the max
3641s level of renown anytime you do a job
3644s you're guaranteed at least two items
3647s you'll have increased credits uh you'll
3649s have like all of the additional benefits
3651s from every single one of these so jobs
3653s can be a sustainable source of uh
3656s looting
3658s in an in-game state because that's
3660s if it's not then what's the point of
3662s doing jobs at all right so
3664s but then in addition to that of course
3665s you're also getting these sweet new
3666s decals

3772s some of them might take a couple of
3774s minutes
3775s so it really comes down to if you're
3777s looking to like get something really
3779s quick maybe you're going through jobs
3781s and it's like oh they have a star
3782s forward shield i'm just going to knock
3784s this out versus you do a high risk area
3786s you know it's going to be a commitment
3788s but you also know you're going to get a
3790s bunch of stuff

3794s trade-off so it really just comes down
3796s to the type of player you are and what
3797s you're kind of aiming for on my front

4125s particular signal
4127s hence the name of a
4130s location of grouped up enemies whether
4133s it's a meeting location or a base
4135s whatever there's a high risk in you
4137s going there hence why they're called
4139s high risk areas so uh that process is

4257s trait is called evolution so um as i

4266s the weakest link mutator
4269s that would make it to where you could
4272s only target a single foe
4274s and we liked it
4277s but it also
4279s wasn't
4280s fun like we thought it was clever but it
4282s just wasn't enjoyable
4284s so what we did is we said screw this
4287s we ripped it out of the game just
4289s it's gone now chucked that in the
4291s garbage because it was literally
4293s the weakest

4295s anyway so then once we did that we
4298s decided well what if we did like this
4300s targeted enemy like a marked enemy that
4302s still had something that could be
4303s valuable to it and uh that's where
4306s evolution comes into play and there
4307s could in fact be a few more mutators
4310s that are utilized like this so um
4313s evolution the marked enemies level is
4316s increased every 15 seconds up to five
4320s times not that's not like mult
4322s multiplicative
4323s it's not like five times its level it's
4325s just five like
4327s one two three four five uh if the enemy
4329s is destroyed a new one is chosen so
4331s there's always gonna be one enemy that
4334s has a much higher level
4336s um and like i said i wanna put emphasis
4338s on this uh this could happen to like we
4341s could have a couple other mutators that
4342s enter the fray in the future
4345s um probably not by the summer update but
4347s after the summer update
4349s that do something similar to a random
4351s enemy yada yada because we do like that
4354s system
4355s uh it was kind of like utilizing cool
4360s uh so i also wanted to try it with the
4363s strength and death on this one because
4365s it could be very interesting but we're
4367s gonna start with evasive corrosive death
4370s and evolution so enemies are gonna be a
4372s bit harder to kill and if i fly through
4374s corrosion i'm probably gonna die and
4375s it's gonna be sad
4379s but we're gonna pop both of those
4385s i think we're gonna go with this star
4387s forge shield
4388s i think it's just straight better
4390s honestly
4398s i think we're also going to do these
4399s intuitive homing missiles

4444s highlighting a change to an item by the
4446s way so the recharge booster uh suffered
4450s dearly in regards to its capability to
4452s recharge
4453s versus the other boosters now we kind of
4456s took a quick like
4458s we analyzed the different boosters very
4460s briefly like the standard one the cruise
4461s booster and the recharge booster and
4463s what we discovered is that the standard
4465s booster um
4466s it actually has like it increases your
4469s uh speed
4471s a bit
4472s better than the other two then the
4474s charge booster has a natural bonus to
4477s the speed even though its speed bonus is
4480s equivalent to the recharge booster but
4482s then the recharge booster had no
4484s benefits at all to its speed
4486s so the other two were technically faster
4488s than the recharge booster but the
4489s recharge booster's intent was to
4491s recharge faster right so it does
4494s recharge faster because the uh the
4496s recharge
4497s speed
4498s is vastly superior on the recharge
4501s booster to the other two however the
4503s recharge delay
4505s was a second
4506s longer
4508s so the recharge delay on a standard
4510s booster and on a cruise booster is one
4513s second and the recharge
4515s booster
4516s had a two second
4518s recharge delay
4521s it didn't feel good so uh talked with
4523s hans christian he was like actually this
4525s could be a good solution we've made the
4527s recharge delay on the recharge booster
4530s less than a second
4532s so even though it doesn't have the same
4534s speed capabilities of the others to
4536s now this one should be able to be used
4539s more frequently because of how much more
4541s it's recharging for you
4545s makes sense i hope so
4548s because that's what we're using and
4549s that's what we did so it recharges
4552s faster means you can boost with it
4553s longer and when you stop it recharges
4556s faster at a much faster base so that you
4558s can boost longer
4560s so you're technically going slower but
4562s you're boosting for longer periods of
4563s time just get it
4565s good
4570s we're happy with it that's that's all
4572s i'm saying testing with it has been very
4574s good
4575s and now uh like for the first time
4578s union signal decoder perfect
4581s that's hilarious

4583s now i have a much more difficult
4585s decision of which particular booster i'm
4587s using because they each have their own
4588s sort of niche now the recharge booster
4591s is nice because you can always be
4592s boosting very great for light ships and
4596s their quick uh mobility
4599s uh because having that recharge back
4601s into the fray is uh is nice
4604s versus the cruise which just gets you
4605s out of situations entirely

4612s the um
4613s and the standard booster which is just
4615s kind of an all-around kind of does
4616s everything well but doesn't really push
4619s the bounds on any point either

4683s different item tiers are distributed in

4688s because we are re-categorizing that i
4691s have now outfitted my ship according to
4695s what an authentic build would look like
4698s in your travels up to this point okay
4701s now i say that because this particular
4703s save uh
4705s isn't an authentic progression all the
4707s way through i've started a new save i'm
4709s not quite to level 23 yet but on my
4712s progress there the equipment that i've
4714s been gaining uh has mostly been
4717s uncommons and every now and then i'll
4718s get a rare
4720s but i have only seen like one superior
4722s and that's it
4725s um and we've done this for a number of
4727s reasons uh but in short it's kind of
4729s help ironing out the itemization
4732s progression as a whole and so what you
4735s see on this ship right now
4738s is much more attuned to what an
4741s authentic level 23 space would probably
4744s look like that's completed the tasks and
4746s the challenges that i've currently done
4748s in this game space
4751s uh so yeah that's why now obviously you
4753s can still grind out whenever you reach
4755s your maximum level limitation
4758s and probably get all the superiors for
4760s sure

4764s uh i don't feel that that would be the
4766s best representation
4769s in the live stream

5374s one which i've completed is complete a
5376s high-risk area without taking damage to
5377s the hole that was before we
5380s changed figures around so that would
5381s actually be pretty difficult and then
5382s complete a high-risk area without having
5385s shield and armor installed um so these
5388s are more for you guys out there who want
5390s that we want to we don't want to put uh
5392s something like that as a mutator because
5394s that could seriously hurt um casual
5397s players um since you know individuals
5399s who would like a mutator like that
5401s you're gonna see a small percentage of
5403s the of the hole and i would see
5406s individuals just go into their inventory
5407s and be like oh scrapping that i don't
5409s want to do that mutator or just selling
5411s it for credits
5413s so it's it's all about that balance

5417s explore has it procedural of the type

5988s actually has a little bit more distance
5990s between it you're gonna start feeling

6506s um because level 25 has three new perks
6509s that you will be grabbing the first one
6511s is called
6512s retaliation and this allows you to
6515s reflect 30 of incoming damage back to
6517s your attackers not 30 damage that hits
6519s your shield specifically or your armor
6521s specifically or your hole specifically
6523s is 30 of incoming damage
6525s all of it back to your attackers okay
6529s the second one is called exploitation
6531s this one
6532s increases your critical hint chance by
6535s 50
6537s when attacking enemies whose movement
6540s is impaired

6613s damage so uh really useful for bombers
6616s also surprisingly useful for vindicators
6619s because you're generally not taking
6620s damage so even though they have one
6622s secondary weapon slot it can prove to be
6624s very powerful if you got your drones
6627s distracting your foes so uh obviously
6630s i'm sure you guys will find other ways
6632s to bring those into the fray but those
6634s are the three new perks that you will be
6637s able to have access to if you reach
6638s level 25

7487s then the slew of changes across the

7491s there's so much that is different
7494s than what you would have experienced the
7495s first time you went through it
7497s so again i seriously strongly encourage
7500s you guys to start a new game
7503s with this experimental branch because
7505s through that and what you experience
7508s it's going to be
