337s straight out of the way into this
339s revamped perks thing okay
342s all of this has been changed uh to a
345s degree
346s so let's talk about that just by showing
348s you this page alone i think you've
350s already gotten the gist of it i think
352s you already get it
355s pretty straightforward right
357s we feel like it should be so uh the left
359s side
360s has consolidated perks a bit better so
363s that doesn't look like there's going to
364s be a bajillion perks the right side
367s shows you
368s the progression of perk unlocks before
372s you get the one before it so here you
374s can see a good solid example you can pay
376s only 70 for full repairs has been
379s unlocked we are working on the process
382s to get pay only 70 for equipment repairs
385s and then we also see that beyond that
387s freehold repairs up to 30 of the maximum
390s hole hit points when docking is that
392s final third reveal
395s and it's all available right from the
397s get-go and this applies to every single
400s perk now so ones that have like a bunch
402s of them you get to see all of those
404s stats
405s before you unlock it the only thing you
407s don't see are the upgrade requirements
410s for ones after the one you're working on
412s that's what you don't see
415s but we are very satisfied with how this
418s is in operation now so as a player you
422s can quickly peruse your perks and be
424s like oh i i really want to get this
426s thing because of that third one instead
429s of the you know the first one that
430s you're on you don't see what's gonna
432s happen next right
434s uh like alec in particular like the
436s first one in conjunction to like how
438s he's going to assist you later i think
440s this is a really nice one because it
441s shows you he's going to upgrade his
443s weaponry and then it's going to add a
445s secondary missile um the emp
448s specifically uh and it just it every
450s single one it does this right this one
453s also is a nice one to see with the ship
455s dealers since you don't specifically
456s know what those are going to give
459s it's every single one

523s questions getting clarity so first

527s uh a location challenge and drake says
529s to find three submerged things the c is
531s huge i found just one next to a huge
533s skelly are there any
534s leads to where the other two are at this
537s point in time uh the only leads that
540s there's going to be are
541s basically how the level is designed
543s itself so like if there's a particular
546s pattern or design in the level itself
550s like the the
551s world's building if you will the or not
554s the world building the um what's the
555s term i'm looking for the
557s is it level design yeah i guess it's
559s level design you know like if you see a
561s little house on a hill there's probably
563s something to do around that site right
565s like if there's a mountain range that's
566s curved like this and there's like a path
568s that kind of goes down it then obviously
570s it leads your eyes up stuff like that um
572s so
573s at the moment um i don't think there's
575s anything other than little key visual
578s indicators that would clue you in as to
580s where they may or may not be uh but some
582s of those are actually a bit more
584s challenging than most other
585s others so
587s yeah there's gonna be a couple more
588s tweaks and refinements towards the
590s level design anyway we could in fact see
593s those in drake for
596s this specific mission so yeah there you

601s uh all right let's see then another
603s question we have comes from um here you
607s can also see this one we we simplified
609s this so it's not misleading since our
611s target is 30 levels for atom now we have
614s exactly space for

618s 18 perks here which would be after
620s getting level 30.
622s uh next question uh what are the current
624s plans on optimizing the game um
628s shoot that's there are so many different
630s ways to optimize um every version of the
632s game seems to run a bit less good
634s there's quit uh
636s quite a bit of hitching going on
638s especially in larger bases yeah i mean
640s you're gonna get that whenever we
641s especially when we release new content
643s like there's gonna be like a little
644s hiccup because we're just like throwing
646s a lot of that content at you and
648s optimization comes through like the
650s experimental branch for example but then
651s also through feedback of the early
653s access phase in general so if you're
655s looking for the most optimized game to
659s experience that's gonna be full release
661s that's that the full release is like
663s after everything
665s has been built
666s right like everything has been
667s established everything has been
668s optimized so through the process of
671s getting there you're gonna have some
673s clunks you're going to have some hiccups
674s you're going to have some
676s bobbly boops
678s you're going to have some
680s what's-a-do-zits
682s insert weird word here that is the
684s experience of early access
686s i know that that's not really an
688s expectation that gamers have anymore uh
690s but i think it's a last one that should
692s absolutely still be present
694s early access is very much not complete
697s and you will encounter issues guaranteed

703s and it's our job to fix them when they
706s come up it's your job to let us know
708s that they are coming up so thank you for
710s letting us know that you're having some
712s issues on your optimization
715s uh and or rather your experience that
718s feels like things aren't optimized i
720s know that we could even get
722s further with such a question if you
724s provided like your system specs on the
726s forums so that we could maybe even
729s identify a key issue at hand um whether
732s it's on your end or it's on ours so that
735s we can authentically do something about

738s i spent a lot of time talking about that
739s a little bit of a tangent but seriously
742s lower that expectation of early access
744s being perfection uh and realize there
746s are going to be bugs and issues and
748s all sorts of
750s whoops of daisies
752s all right uh i'm gonna do one more

756s slap back into actual gameplay instead
758s of just staring at the screen that's
760s really kind of cool actually i really
762s love how we've redone this um
765s but this one uh you could see the clouds
767s moving from space on some planets in
769s everspace one will that be the case here
772s as well or is it already pretty sure

776s pretty sure that's already

780s but uh shoot we can we can check it out

788s yeah i know that there's a lot of
789s especially like in super light we wanted
791s to make sure that there were a lot of
792s pleasantries when you're looking around

798s having super light exist instead of just
800s instantly going from one point to the
801s other like if if part of the journey
803s isn't the visualization of it then you
805s know so uh yeah anyway i also uh have a

811s wanted to go for something
813s a little bit more i don't know pointy
816s and i also changed my colors around to
818s this orange sort of highlight
820s so we'll be flying around coalition uh
823s as well as the drake system
825s itself with this new ship we also have a
829s couple new armaments that will benefit
831s our cause here
834s and one of those
837s is
838s a familiar
840s weapon
841s even though the artwork on it is not
843s done but let's talk about these cruise
845s missiles
849s let's talk about these cruise missiles
851s first off
853s that's a lot of damage for being level
855s 21.
858s and i want to clarify i want to point
859s that out for level 21 for a single
863s missile
864s that's a lot of damage
867s that's a
868s crap ton of damage so let's talk about
871s this
872s we have crap tons of damage we have a
874s range of 4
876s 000
878s meters
880s we have an incredibly slow fire rate
883s and a pretty long lock duration
887s i have what might be the best two
889s modifiers on this weapon
891s plus 10 damage for each second the
893s missile flies and remember it's 4 000
898s meters 4 000 meters okay
901s also what it doesn't tell you here is
903s the velocity of this cruise missile and
905s why is this important i'm going to show
906s you right now
910s this cruise
911s missile doesn't exactly go very fast
919s like we can dang near
921s fly with it and look it goes for a long
924s time
926s it goes for a very long time
928s all right
930s all the way up to this point now just
932s imagine
933s getting the maximum range where it's
935s getting plus 10 percent damage for each
937s second the missile flies i don't know if
939s anybody was timing that but i'm gonna
941s give it's give or take like eight
943s seconds all right
945s so take this damage and then dang near
948s double it
954s yeah
955s oh yeah
957s it gets better though guys because
959s remember
961s it does lock
964s so this is different from the plasma
966s torpedoes
967s it's
969s evolved since then
971s because even though the lock does take
973s some time
975s let's get in let's sit we're not going
976s to fire at the drone but let's just uh
979s use this as an example
985s it will in fact
987s lock
988s so if i fire it wonky it does in fact
991s correct itself
1001s shooting at a drone was a bad choice
1004s because
1005s even though its velocity is slow its
1008s turning radius is also sloppy so
1011s the lock is nice
1014s a very nimble target is still going to
1016s evade this
1018s a variable target's still going to
1020s invade this but if you're looking to
1022s take on boss's really big ships and
1024s whatnot uh to like just really clobber
1027s them you're gonna need cruise missiles
1030s especially if they get more tough
1033s uh anyway
1035s so cruise missiles those they're fun i
1037s like them
1039s i like them lots
1042s i've been able to uh experiment with
1044s them a little bit
1045s in little situations
1049s they're quite powerful
1052s so uh today we are going to fly over
1055s here to this drake research station
1058s uh two things to point out
1060s one thing first thing
1062s is that
1064s when
1065s uh when we talked about
1068s the
1069s tools to fast travel
1072s spatial bypass
1074s we discovered that
1078s it's broken for drake
1080s if you continue saves
1082s past acquiring spatial bypass
1086s this is one of those things that is
1089s an unfortunate side effect of old saves
1092s and not having their flags data
1094s accordingly
1095s so when i go here i am not going to have
1097s a spatial bypass opportunity whatsoever
1102s but if you start a new save
1104s you absolutely should
1106s you would absolutely be able to spatial
1108s bypass into the drake system
1112s isn't early access fun oh my goodness
1115s but otherwise what i want to do in this
1117s drake research station is the location
1120s challenge because i think it's lots of
1121s fun
1128s and we're going to use the cruise
1128s missile and stuff like that i do see
1131s more questions uh spawning i will get
1133s into another question phase first i want
1136s to do this research station little quest
1138s and we'll probably use another new tool
1141s that we have
1142s to help us out
1143s as well
1150s all right
1152s let's defeat these incoming waves of
1154s fighters
1157s also hang on a second
1160s okay
1161s just making sure it's not very hard
1163s you don't want somebody to think that
1165s we're not playing on a difficult uh
1167s level or something here
1170s also i don't want to get frozen so we're
1172s just going to use our front shield
1173s generator here
1188s excellent
1198s now i'm sure that there are plenty of
1200s you veterans of everspace one who are
1201s like yes red shield generator this is
1203s like one of my favorite things on the
1205s gun ship um well hang on a second
1207s because it gets better and let me show
1209s you uh just how it does
1212s so
1213s let's check out the front shield
1215s generator we have it mastered here
1217s projects an impenetrable shield towards
1219s the front of the ship for 19 seconds
1221s that's its mastery and then for all of
1223s you
1224s big fans of a certain character that
1226s probably exists in pop culture uh we
1228s have three modes actually named
1231s that do some pretty incredible things
1234s the first one
1235s avenger reflects blocked shots back to
1238s attackers
1240s well chef's kiss for those of you guys
1243s who love instilling as much pain and
1245s suffering on those who try to do the
1247s same to you
1249s next one which i'm using black damage is
1251s converted to weapon energy it's called
1253s all day
1256s very very nice if you want a clear
1258s sustained amount of damage to return
1260s fire
1261s and finally on your left
1264s shield is 25 smaller but it will
1266s automatically turn towards the closest
1268s enemy facing it let's go ahead and use
1269s that one right now
1271s just so you can kind of see how it works
1277s so regardless of where you're pointing
1281s say this other drone's been causing me a
1283s lot of grief it's not gonna cover me
1284s from that particular drone while i'm
1286s dealing with with other things and then
1288s i can come over here and take it out
1292s kind of a nice mix up nice change of
1294s pace
1296s except now we really need that front
1297s shield generator
1301s it gives you a lot more flexibility than
1303s the original
1304s uh front shield generator initially had

1311s now obviously certain modes are going to
1313s be for certain play styles
1315s some of you especially when you're
1316s getting overwhelmed by all the things uh
1319s you're probably not going to uh want it
1321s to be manually pointing you're going to
1322s want to point it to your liking

1330s so uh yeah
1332s pilots may vary and how useful these
1334s different
1335s modes can be
1337s as it should be
1339s i just think it's a lot of fun because
1340s it looks cool
1342s because that's how that's how it works
1344s right
1344s if it looks cool then it is cool right
1352s perfect i said that wrong if it looks
1354s cool then it's good that's what i mean
1367s wow my aim's a little off today with

1536s missiles to use on
1538s uh unfortunate that we used them all uh

1551s it's it's amazing uh that thing i just
1554s saw at the corner of my eye that thing

1634s much more impressive than that uh hang

1649s mass destroyed its armor
1658s yeah that's a that was a pretty chunky
1660s shot actually but yeah you can see it's
1662s doing a tremendous amount of damage it's
1664s probably the fact that i'm level 21
1665s firing a level 21 version of this on a
1667s level 22 but regardless you can tell
1669s that that's not a small amount of damage
1672s coming from a secondary uh weapon like
1675s at all
1677s last point to uh
1680s last note to point out actually is that
1682s every time that i fight i was 68k damage
1685s every time i'm firing one of these if
1687s you look right below me
1689s you'll see that there's actually a
1690s little cooldown meter now
1693s there's a cooldown meter that shows you
1696s how long you have to wait until you can
1697s fire again
1699s and that works on all weapons on all
1701s missiles
1703s so you can very quickly get a sense of
1708s when you can fire
1709s again yeah in comparison to our little
1711s pot shots here
1714s yeah we did a crap ton of damage
1716s with that secondary
1719s 34k in a single shot in each one of our
1721s little shots here is anywhere between
1723s like what 800 and a thousand
1727s that's quite the difference
1732s quite the difference indeed oh man we
1734s should have saved some more of them
1738s but obviously the compensate for this it
1740s shows up in a very low number so you
1743s can't have a lot of these um unless you
1746s have like all of your secondary weapon
1748s slots filled out with them uh but in
1750s general they only have like three four
1752s or five slots that you can fill with
1754s this missile since it does so much
1756s damage
1758s since it does so much damage uh let me
1760s also change the setting i don't like
1762s looking at numbers
1764s so i turn that back off uh and now let's
1767s take out this destroyer
1776s excellent
1780s protect ourselves from those little
1781s dronesies
1783s while we're focused on oh gosh
1791s that's pain that was painful
1793s but it's okay we can uh we can fix this
1807s i found a bug

1818s that is the best oh my goodness the

1909s this one's definitely showcasing how i
1911s have altered this save state to give
1913s this presentation anyway

2082s a spatial bypass location in grape

2105s it's almost like there's something i
2107s have to complete in this area to bring

2136s just to talk about two very important
2137s things
2139s so let's just talk about a little bit
2140s further yeah these cruise missiles can
2142s be insane it's gonna depend on how
2144s you're putting them together um and all
2146s of that fun stuff uh with your builds i
2149s think scout players are going to rejoice
2151s because uh we actually went through and
2153s we discovered something
2155s let me pull up my deets to make sure i
2156s get this 100 accurate
2160s uh but yeah so we fixed how the scout's
2163s expertise wasn't increasing the range of
2165s secondary weapons so this is after your
2167s particular build um this is incredibly
2170s relevant to tools like
2172s the high-capacity cruise missiles
2174s because what that means is that
2176s this is going to get expanded range
2179s so if you had something like damage for
2180s each second the missile flies that's
2181s going to increase that damage naturally
2183s authentically so your scout is going to
2185s be able to like do some major super
2187s sniping stuffs with secondaries as well
2190s not just primaries
2191s so for those of you who like that sort
2193s of gameplay style of always getting the
2195s jump on your opponent before they see
2196s you
2197s this could be a very powerful tool if
2199s you're flying around in the scout
2208s so uh yeah that's a pretty big one i
2211s feel like is coming to you
2213s all but obviously we are talking about
2216s this front shield generator a lot i'm
2218s gonna use avenger now just because it

5093s crafting worked to where
5095s if you crafted say a primary
5099s uh a pulse laser
5101s you could randomly get a jaeger you
5103s could randomly get
5105s a uh pulse laser stuff like that but we
5108s felt like that was actually too much so
5111s we scaled back the crafting and when i
5113s say we felt like i'm not saying just
5116s internally we didn't think about it very
5117s much we're like oh
5119s why spend a thought on it let's just ah
5121s no like it was based on feedback it was
5123s based on internal testing it was based
5125s on a number of factors we felt like we
5128s want to keep crafting in a more
5130s simplified format to fill those gaps

5136s added blueprints of variance in here it

5144s too diverse
5146s for what we're trying to supply in
5148s regards to what primaries and
5151s secondaries do in this crafting
